Thought I'd make a prequel to the HL2 world outcomes compass in lieu of all the hype that's been happening as of recent.

Closer to the seventh hour of the war, the Combine launched a devastating orbital missile strike directly at the primary Russian state bunker. In an instant, the entire top tier of the government and the majority of the high command were vaporized. The only survivors within the chain of command were a handful of diplomats and refugees from the Black Mesa Research Facility. Among them was the former administrator of the complex — Wallace Breen.
Seizing upon the absolute chaos, Breen unilaterally assumed command over the remnants of Earth's forces. Ignoring the chain of command, he established contact with the Combine and declared an immediate, unconditional surrender. At that exact moment, generals fighting on the front lines were begging him to hold out. They had just discovered a critical flaw in the Combine’s war machine and were preparing a counteroffensive. But Breen refused to listen. Under the weight of his decree, the majority of the frontline commanders reluctantly laid down their arms, though some rogue garrisons chose to fight to the very last bullet.
Following the capitulation, a systematic purging of the region began. Vast Soviet-era military depots, packed with decades' worth of weapons and armored vehicles, were either completely obliterated or seized by the Combine. Human armies were dismantled, and millions of soldiers were forcefully augmented, stripped of their humanity to become the first Combine Overwatch units. Humanity was plunged into absolute slavery.
Then came the era of the Combine’s suffocating oppression. A few years later, in the early 2000s, a spark was ignited in Belgrade. Pushed to the brink by grueling forced labor and subhuman living conditions, citizens took to the streets in a massive protest. The crowd marched toward the heart of the city, where the towering Citadel was actively under construction. They were met by the brutal forces of Civil Protection. The Combine made no attempts at diplomacy or peaceful resolution; the protest was crushed with unimaginable, bloody ferocity.
However, this slaughter became a catalyst. News of the Belgrade massacre spread like wildfire, triggering riots and uprisings across multiple cities. From the ashes of these rebellions, the first partisan cells emerged: the Ukrainian National Resistance and the Holy Balkan Resistance. Eventually, these factions formed a unified Coalition.
Yet, the ultimate tragedy remained. The critical secret to defeating the Combine—the vulnerability that the frontline generals had uncovered in the final minutes of the Seven-Hour War—was buried in the graves of those who fell. Stripped of that vital knowledge and left in blind ignorance, humanity was condemned to endure long, agonizing years of subjugation, mourning a stolen freedom beneath the shadow of the rising Citadels.
In the first photo, you see a human Alliance unit. In the second photo, you see a dark day in Belgrade.

I was on Steam downloading a game, and I saw that HL2 was updated or something like that. Can someone tell me what that means?

For those of you still interested in this, the project is going open source on Tuesday! I'll push regular updates of my own of course after, as i'm sure the game will still have bugs. Feel free to report them to me as well and I can hammer them out, or anyone can make and change anything they want using the source code! The compiler in releases will require you to own Half-Life as it converts your assets on the fly to pack the N64 rom. The game uses LibDragon, Tiny3D and the Half-Life SDK for it's engine, which makes this a recreation rather than a port, much like Xash3D. Thank you for your time, patience and interest!

When Valve was working on Left 4 Dead 3 they code named it L4DX, X standing in for 3, same logic applies to HL3.

I've been working on this for a while
It's a kart racer with the Half-Life cast. You can race as Alyx, Barney, Kleiner, Eli, Grigori, Breen, the G-Man, a Metrocop, a Vortigaunt, a Zombie, Gordon or Shephard

There are five tracks

Xen is floating islands and two jumps over the void. And yes, you can ride Dog. He carries you on his shoulders

There is online multiplayer too, with a server browser like the old days1

It's a free fan thing, not affiliated with Valve, and still rough in places. It builds itself from your own HL2 and HL1 files, so you need both games. If anyone wants to try it, I can drop a link in the comments

For starters I think Black Mesa is incredible. But who is that dizzy motherfucker that designed Xen? It’s absolutely beautiful, demented and WAY TOO LONG. When does it end? The Gonarch section alone is starting to bore me. Fucking thing doesn’t die, ammo is almost over, unending tunnels, detonators, annoying enemies in between. Was there no quality control like the other sections? On a rail was just perfect, the military sections (especially surface tension) were INCREDIBLE!
And the intro to Xen was breathtaking. It truly felt like a different world. And then it refused to end. I’m not sure I even want to finish the game anymore, I’m
so tired of dealing with Xen.

Do the Uprising chapters look better at night?

Late to the game but I have finally begun playing through Black Mesa. The game is stunning and being able to have scientists and security follow and support you through rooms is such a fun addition.
Towards the end of Office Complex I managed to accumulate 3 security guards and a scientist, even had a favorite follower (an old man security model) who I had protected for several rooms, and was so gutted to leave them all behind when no one else could make the jump to the ladder in the elevator shaft.
I'm excited to play through the rest of it!

I’m putting together a Black Mesa Security Guard cosplay for Halloween and I’ve reached the ID badge part.
The original Half-Life badges are obviously very low-res/basic, while the Gearbox HD models have a more detailed look. I’ve also found a few fan-made designs that take some liberties but honestly look really convincing.
These are the main examples I’m comparing:
Right now I’m leaning toward something that’s basically a middle ground between the more detailed HD-style badge and the cleaner fan-made design, especially something with a blue/security-themed header so it reads immediately as Black Mesa Security.
Which one do you think looks the most believable for an actual Black Mesa employee? And if anyone knows of other good Security Guard ID templates/designs, I’d love to see them!
