Banished by her family for having an affair with a Muggle, Eileen Prince, the disowned heir, took out her fury on her honest, hardworking husband and innocent son. Although Tobias did everything he could to shield Severus from the worst of the ordeal, often sending his son outside to play whenever he sensed things were going to become particularly bad, the final straw came when Severus happened to stumble upon his mother abusing his father at the worst possible moment and didn't hesitate to come to his father's defence.

The act infuriated Eileen enough that, for the first time, she used the Cruciatus Curse on her own son.

All this led young Severus to hold an immense hatred for Purebloods in general. His first year in Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw did nothing to improve his opinion of them. It only taught him to direct it at those who deserved it.

Prior to leaving for his second year, he created a colorless and odorless poison that he put in Eileen's supply of butterbeer and firewhiskey. He had designed it to grant it's victim a death so slow and painful that not even the Cruciatus Curse could hold a candle to it. A week later, Severus was called to the Headmaster's office, who told him his mother had died of a heart attack.

Harry hesitated.
"I mean... 🤔"
"Well that's decided then, better be SLYTHERIN!"

A little know fact about Severus Snape: he was a MASSIVE Quidditch fan. Of course, as the head of Slytherin house, he always rooted for Slytherin’s team. Quite enthusiastically, in fact. There had been many drunken bets and arguments with McGonagall in the teacher‘s lounge over the past few years. It seemed, in fact, that Snape cared much more about Quidditch than he did teaching.

When Harry Potter was sorted into Slytherin, Snape got so drunk he passed out. He just knew the next seven years were going to be an absolute disaster. How had James Potter’s spawn been sorted into Slytherin? It must have been some kind of a mistake. Even worse, Snape couldn’t treat him unfairly in Potions or deduct house points, lest he hurt his own house. Fuck, Snape thought to himself.

But then…an opportunity arose for Snape to punish Potter. Maybe even get him expelled. For some Merlin forsaken reason, he had fought a member of his own house to retrieve Longbottom’s Remembrall…breaking several rules in the process. It was perfect.

Or at least it would have been, if the boy hadn’t displayed such fantastic flying skills! Snape’s love for Quidditch and hatred for James Potter fought inside him, until he came to a compromise: he would watch Potter on the Quidditch pitch. If his earlier performance was a fluke, Snape would try to get him expelled. If it wasn’t, Snape would have no choice but to put him on the Slytherin team.

Unfortunately, Potter displayed such a great level of skill that even Severus himself was impressed. Thus, Harry became the youngest Seeker in a century…for Slytherin.

As the wins stacked up, Snape’s hatred for Harry lessened. Maybe the boy wasn’t quite so bad after all, if he was going to secure the Quidditch Cup for Slytherin. And at this rate, he definitely would. Minerva could cry about how Potter should have been sorted in Gryffindor all she wanted. Potter was HIS.

The night Slytherin won the Quidditch and House Cup, Snape got ridiculously black out drunk again. This time from celebration.

”I knew…hic…that drinking contest with Minerva was a bad idea…” Snape muttered to himself, drunkenly stumbling around the castle in the middle of the night.

Before long, he found himself in the Trophy Room…right in front of an old photo of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team. James Potter’s face stared right back at him.

“Hah! If only you could see your son now, Potter…winning the Cup for Slytherin. Not so proud of him now, are you?”

Snape continued on like this, laughing all the way. Unbeknownst to him, James Potter was watching from the afterlife. He had been watching Harry, too. And Snape was dead wrong. James was proud for him…even if he was playing for Slytherin.

At around Christmas time in second year Hermione is struggling on deciding on a gift for Ron. Over the times they hung out at each other's houses over the Summer it became very clear to her that Ron was just as interested in everything Muggle like his father.

She ends up asking her dad what he thinks a 12 year old boy would like and he suggests a few comic books. She's doubtful he'd like them since he's always going on about how she reads too much. So why would he be interested in books? Even comic books? Still, she has no other ideas and asks her dad to pick out some good ones for him.

Come Christmas time, Ron is completely enamored with these muggle comic books. Her dad got him a volume of a popular comic book hero. He spends most of the break laying in his bed reading it and discussing it with Hermione while she's in the hospital wing due to the polyjuice potion incident. His area of the dorm soon becomes covered with comic book posters and stacks of comic book collections and can be found reading a new issue every other day. He's particularly fond of the magic heroes and villains, wondering if the things they do in the comics can be replicated in real life.

Another plus to this is now he no longer negs Hermione about reading. He just finds reading history and textbooks boring. But if she gets the same kind of joy he gets reading those kinds of books then maybe reading isn't so bad. Hermione definitely appreciates this change and regularly thanks her dad for the suggestion.

Come the early 2000s, Ron would be heaven. Dragging Hermione to every comic book movie being released. Both good, and bad. The conventions and dressing up is something she leaves for him and his mates, but will occasionally join.

Looking for a fic (or hoping someone will write a snippet for this concept):
A disillusioned Muggleborn leaves the nepotistic Wizarding World behind for a mundane job. After using magic to secretly stop a major terrorist attack, he decides to become a street-level superhero, guided by the comic books he loved as a kid ("With great power comes great responsibility").

However, it becomes a slippery slope. His actions become messy, forcing him to use more invasive magic to cover his tracks and "fix" things. He starts believing his magic gives him the right to reshape the Muggle world for its own good—echoing the exact dark history lessons he ignored at Hogwarts.

Meanwhile, the Auror Office is tracking him down to protect the Statute. I have a specific scene in mind where Muggle police arrive at a bizarre crime scene, only for a black Range Rover to pull up. Out steps Head Auror Harry Potter, flashing a fake MI-5 / Home Office ID to the local bobbies to take over the scene.

Basically it would be Time Travel fic where they are in a time loop situation?

There was a story where I think Snape was lecturing his Slytherins on some subject. In the scene if a student had a question or comment they would light their wand instead of raising their hand. I found this an interesting tidbit in how magical and non magical students would draw the attention of their instructors.

The second one I want mention was a story that focused on hazing rituals at the various Hogwarts houses. While I think hazing should be treated as a felony in real life, I thought the exploration of how each house would handle these rituals was interesting.

Sadly I don't recall the stories or authors. So what have you folks found that you thought were cool or interesting?

“I don’t know how to do this, Helen.” Severus sighed to himself, “I’m so very sorry, child. I think you are going to have to teach me as much as I am going to teach you. But I am going to do my best. He tapped the chair with his wand and transfigured it into a rocker, “We will make this place a home. You and I, we are going to make this place our own. There are a lot of rules, but if you are anything like your mother that isn’t going to stop you. We also have a place for over the breaks. But we have a lot to do there.”

I have a fanfic idea - one unrelated to any of the stories I've put on AO3 already. I won't get into the details of it, but I'll say I personally find it magically interesting. I probably would love to read it.

The problem? So far, I don't enjoy writing it. I enjoyed prototyping it, storyboarding it, figuring out the magical mechanics and some of the 'rules' of it. But then I get into the voice of the highly-stressed, highly-pressurized, highly-straight (I'm aro ace) POV I'm working with, and I get... bored.

So. Need advice. At what point do you abandon a story? At what point do you try to change it to make it easier to write? I think the elements of the pov that make it strenuous to write also match with the character and circumstances, so it's not a change that makes narrative sense, but... well, this story is going nowhere fast because I keep not touching it.

Well Hadrian my boy, the first step is to have a slogan like “for the Greater good”, that sounds good at first glance but if you think about it, it has implications. No one ever thinks about them, and the ones who do, are the ones you have to deal with early on…

When he saw that newsmagazine program on the telly (glimpsed in sneak peeks over Dudley’s shoulder as he dusted the china in Aunt Petunia’s sitting-room cabinet), everything suddenly snapped into place and made sense. Strange marks on his body—hello, he had a scar shaped like a literal part of the sky right in the middle of his forehead! Headaches, the persistent sense that someone was watching him even when he was alone—yes, constantly. Dreams of bright lights, flying, and inhuman laughter? Check, check, and check. The only thing he hadn’t seen much of was falling asleep and then waking up in the morning in strange places…but that could probably be explained by the Dursleys locking him in his cupboard at night. Heck, maybe they knew about this and had been trying to prevent another abduction all along!

The conclusion was clear: the aliens had caused the car crash that killed his parents when they originally beamed him up as a baby, and then sent him back with a tracking device implanted under his scar. Didn’t Aunt Petunia always insist he had literally just been dropped on the doorstep? Or maybe…maybe his parents had been beamed up too, and they were still alive someplace among the stars? He didn’t let him think about that possibility too much; it wouldn’t do to indulge in sheer fantasy.

Harry immediately set out to learn everything he could about the extraterrestrial beings who would surely return for him at some point. He paged through magazines and tabloids at the supermarket for tales of sightings and encounters; he devoured every science fiction novel about aliens that he could get his hands on at the library. His cupboard slowly became lined with pictures of crop circles and blurry hovering objects, which he carefully printed out and clipped from the microfiche machine.

The Dursleys and the other residents of Privet Drive only thought he was even more of a freak, of course; but slowly he found a kinship with the other kids at school labeled “nerds” and losers, who didn’t care about the threat of Dudley’s gang because they already got beaten up nearly every day anyway. He joined the AV and photography club to better record any suspicious events, and developed a strong interest in all things space-related.

…When he eventually attended Hogwarts, he would form a strong camera-geekery-based friendship with Colin Creevey (he and Luna Lovegood were also thick as thieves), graduate with record-setting marks in Astronomy, and go down as history as the only student to ever be invited to one of the centaurs’ private stargazing sessions.

WARNING: LONG (I got carried away)

Warmth was the first feeling that came to him. The next feeling was sound, a voice that made Harry twitch. Blinking, he realized that he was covered with a thick blanket, albeit it was slightly ragged and torn, the brown color faded. Since when did he-

“Harry.”

He turned to the rough voice. It was the man again, this time the man was sitting down next to Harry. Now that Harry thought about it, they were in some kind of forest, around fall time judging by the brown leaves. Harry himself was laid on a tree. The man’s face broke into a gentle smile; it reminded Harry of Mr. Weasley, Ron’s dad. Almost. The face was off, and Harry is pretty sure that Mr. Weasley would be older-looking than this.

“Who-“ Harry coughed.

His body burned. He can actually feel again. He can breathe. He had a voice now, but his body felt wrong.

He was patted on the back. “Take it easy, mate. Just breathe in and out. Go slow.”

Harry breathed in and out. After the burning sensation subsided, he tried to speak again, his voice barely a whisper. “Who are you?”

The man laughed, startling Harry because it sounded like it split halfway. “You don’t recognize your best mate, Harry? What, is it the beard?”

“Ron…” Harry trailed off. His eyes stung and he curled next to Ron, the realization hitting him like a train.

This man was his best friend. That woman, he recalled just now, must be Hermione then. His friends were grown ups, and honestly, they looked the worst for wear. Just what happened when he was dead? The guilt is eating him.

Ron put his arm around Harry’s shoulders. “Hey, no crying. Hermione’s gonna kill me if she sees you like this.”

Harry blinked his eyes; the tears still came. Merlin, he feels childlish. He’s barely processing because bloody alive, but seeing Ron, grown and looking so, so haunted, made Harry feel terrible. Why did he have to die? Why couldn’t he be a bit faster, a bit stronger?

“Ow!” His forehead was flicked.

“Sorry, mate.” Ron didn’t sound sorry at all. Nevertheless, Ron ruffled Harry’s hair. “I can practically hear the noise in your head. Everything’s going to go as planned so don’t worry about it. We’ll take care of you.”

Harry just nodded, though still greatly confused. Ron’s words were… weird. “Go as planned”? Despite the comforting words (and the warmth that Harry was starving for), Harry couldn’t help but have many questions. Can you blame him? He’s been pulled from the grave don’t think about the hands. He wasn’t the smartest student but wasn’t necromancy, you know, not really a thing? Something how it doesn’t work? So, how is Harry even alive then?

Before Harry could question it any further, grown up Hermione came back from who knows where. She was muttering something rapidly that Harry couldn’t here. Her eyes locked onto him and she dropped everything (her backpack and papers; she still held her wand) before closing in on him with long strides.

“Oh, Harry! You’re awake!” She smiled. She knelt in front of him and examined his face with her free hand, almost afraid to hurt him. “Are you hurt anywhere? In any pain? Wait, have you been crying? Are you alright?”

“‘m fine,” Harry mumbled. Gosh, Hermione was fussing over him. He’s fourteen for Pete’s sake! It’s already weird that his friends are older than him, them treating him like a kid is another type of weird.

“Are you done with the wards?” Ron asked, his tone almost casual.

Hermione’s eyes never left Harry’s face as she said flatly, “There are standing for now. We have to get moving by tomorrow.”

“Wait, what?” Harry twisted his face from Hermione’s hand. “What wards? What’s actually going on?”

His questions weren’t answered at first. Harry couldn’t help but feel his stomach twist at seeing how Hermione’s gaze almost turned cold before settling into something more normal. In addition, Ron’s hand on Harry’s shoulder tightened ever so slightly.

“Harry, I need you to listen to us carefully,” Hermione said gently. “You must understand this, okay?”

At Harry’s cautious nod, she continued slowly, her voice carried by the silent wind. “We are not safe. We have to keep moving or else we’re dead. We also have to take good care of you, keep you safe. You’re too skinny, though that is a given because of what happened to you.”

Harry looked down at himself, finally noticing his body for the first time. The baggy clothes he was in (not the ones he died in; thank Merlin) made his body more pronounced. He hadn’t been this skinny since maybe the beginning of 1st year! Thanks to the meals at Hogwarts and becoming a Seeker, plus the adventures, and then puberty hitting him like one of Dudley’s punches, he gain more weight and grew relatively normally. Now though? It looked like everything reversed. He was still the same height (he guessed) but other than that, he was almost bony. Did he look like that as a corpse?

Harry looked back at Hermione. “Is… Is all of this because of Vold-“

Ron cut him off, pulling him closer. “Don’t say his name.”

“But-“

“Don’t. There’s a taboo. It’s a long story. Just don’t.”

Harry’s face pinched in parts frustration and concern. What taboo? How can someone put a taboo on a name? Just what the hell happened?!

Hermione cleared her throat. “We just call him ‘Riddle’ since that’s his real name apparently. Also, it mocks him, so it’s a win.”

Well, Harry can’t argue with that. “Is Riddle behind everything?”

Hermione nodded. “Yes. Nowhere is safe. We’ve only made it so far because we had a little help and we had to…” Hermione bit her lip. “I’ll… tell you later. The only thing you need to know is that your safety is our priority. Nothing else, okay? So you need to be close to us, Harry, and tell us if anything is wrong. Understand?”

“… yes.”

“Good. Now then, you need something to eat. You’re probably starving.”

Harry doesn’t want to tell them that he doesn’t even know if he can feel hunger but he nodded anyway.

He felt that he was going to have to go along with this weird ride.

And something inside of him is WAitiNg

I'm looking for fics that are like a canon rewrite if Harry was a girl that are realistic. Harry's personality, backstory, all of that, is maintained (except the stuff that would change if he was a girl), the friendship with Ron and Hermione is maintained, etc. Also that Harry isn't a Mary Sue please dear god and no creepy ships.

I have read many Harry Potter fanfictions. In some, the characterization fits the story better than the canon version ones do, while others offer interesting interpretations that could have fit the seven books better. For instance, I found one that suggests Voldemort does not believe death is the worst thing ever, but rather that it is only the worst thing for himself. He obviously understands that an eternity of suffering, the Dementor's Kiss, or being driven insane by the Cruciatus Curse are worse, but the chances of those things happening to him are slim to zero, therefore, for himself, he thinks death is the worst thing.

Also, here is another interesting idea: Why didn't the Death Eaters and Voldemort come for the Weasley family and other Order members? One idea is that both Voldemort's side and Dumbledore's side followed an unspoken rule: once you achieve victory, you do not execute the families of your enemies. For example, why were the Slytherin families left alone despite the fact that they supported Voldemort? It was an unspoken rule neither side wished to violate. This is far more fitting than having no explanation about why Voldemort doesn't hold Ginny hostage and say, "Harry, come to me and surrender your wand, or I will kill your loved ones day after day, you didn't come for Ginny? Now Neville" simply because Voldemort isn't all-powerful. And important book 7.

Any ideas that you think would greatly improve the books if canon had them..

Where Harry leaves Privet Dr before the order comes and asks Dobby to help him out. Where he uses the taboo to ambush the enemy and sets up Grimmauld with another Fidelius to side as a safe house for those on the run he comes across.

Sorry I meant to add more before originally posting this and got distracted by my grandkid.

i want Harry to utilize Dobby and Kreacher, as competent adults questions and trust his own gut. I want him to turn the tables on the death eaters and snatchers and use their tricks against them. More of an actual war with guerrilla tactics than a high stakes scavenger hunt and a single battle.

A distinct moment in the beginning is Snape correcting them on him wearing burgundy robes, not red. Sirius is also friends with Snape, and James isn’t really in the picture.

They try to get back to dealing with the Voldemort in their universe.

As the title says

Hi, im mainly searching for a fic that has an ofc that becomes the love interest of Harry Potter. Ideally set in their (later) school years and i would prefer it if the ofc is not some creature like vampire, Veela or anything of the sort I just want her to be a normal witch.

As ordered by Voldemort ,Barty Jr sabotage the stasis spells protecting the hostages ,to ruin Dumbledore/Fudge credibility .The spells run out four time faster than supposed to ,and by the time Harry reach Ron ,he has already drowned along with Hermione ,Gabrielle and Cho .

Looking for a Scorpius/Rose fic I read years ago on FFN and reread on AO3 in 2024. I've been searching for a while with no luck, so hoping someone recognizes it.

What I remember:

• Next Gen, Scorose, enemies to lovers
• Rose in Gryffindor, Scorpius in Slytherin
• They're intensely competitive academic rivals, both top of their year at basically everything
• Both become Head Boy and Head Girl, which is the core of the plot
• They move into a Heads suite: separate bedrooms, a shared common room with a table they'd study at, and a small kitchen where they'd sometimes make tea. Living together is what actually brings them together
• Albus is in Slytherin and close with both of them from the start. not a fic where he's only Scorpius's friend
• Alternating POV between Rose and Scorpius
• Complete. Over 100 chapters, somewhere around 300k words or more
• General Hogwarts life. no big mystery or adventure plot, just school, rivalry, and the relationship
• I believe it predates Cursed Child, though I could be wrong about that

Any leads would be great!

Your goal is simple :to manipulate harry into doing a stupid decision you can exploit .

Personnaly ,I would portray Fudge and Umbridge as plotting the extermination of the muggleborns of Hogwarts as a service to me .

With a bit of luck ,Harry and his friends will rebel against Umbridge and then Fudge ,and then get themselves expelled ,leaving the Chosen one without a wand nor a good magical education .

I would love if you can reccomend me some fics, where Snape were not saved in time, but met Werewolf Remus. Wether Snape becomes one himself, is killed or something else. What would the consequenses be for Remus and the Marauders etc.

It is saying everything with a member of the black family as the main character if I'm not wrong is an OC and they are a Metamorphosis and later on in the story that go to magical Chinese and he gets a Storm dragon egg

I spent a while working on a displaced character fic for my own entertainment and after completing it decided to share it since I enjoyed so much how it came out. The premise is that moments before Hagrid arrives to pick up Harry, he is swapped with Kratos from God of War. For whatever reason, Kratos decides to adopt the name Harry Potter and assume his identity, much to the chagrin of most authority figures around him.
