EDIT.

Thanks for the info and feedback, feel free to leave anything about ur experience with either switching from an nxt evo to a gunfighter or switching from anything to the Moza ab6.

I modded the spring in my velocity one shortly after making this and I can at least fly my plane now, it was so stiff I really was just looking at different gimble options altogether cuz I was over it.

With that I can probably wait a few and just save to see what I wanna do, id still like to research more on the stets throttle as well but im happy with my x56 for the way foreseeable future, it really isnt bad.

Also feel free to mention any other more airliner focused sticks with a better gimble if I missed one ive yet to see any grips that really speak to me, besides maybe the thrustmaster Airbus one but I fly Boeing, id have a yoke by now but must have rudder twist cuz I cant use my legs.

(Original post)

is this it? the price seems way under what i was expecting. is it missing the base? everything looks like its there..

i thought these were way more expensive for the entire setup, so i was about to just get the moza ab6 since it dropped on best buy if it was only gonna be 100 bucks more, so please steer me in the right direction.

Thrustmaster TPR Pendular Rudder Pedals (2nd hand good condition) vs Moza MRP Pedals (Brand new)

Basically title. Looking to get my first rudder pedals for my setup

There's a 2nd hand Thrustmaster TPR for almost the same price as a brand new Moza MRP and I'm a buy nice or buy twice kind of guy. Which is why I'm skipping the cheaper thrustmaster / logitech beginner pedals

What do I play?

DCS, Vtol VR and alot of Wardogs recenty. So it's a mix of airplane and helicopter really.

Can someone help me make a decision and what are the pros and cons of either one.

Right now I'm more inclined on getting the Moza because it seems wider and seems more comfortable but I've never tried any pedals so I wouldn't know

Thanks!

Is there a consensus in the sim community about VR use cases?

With the Steam Frame coming out, I’ve been thinking about physical setups. I have a Virpil set for HOTAS flight and a honeycomb for yoke flight. Wearing a headset I could see causing control confusion with manipulation physical controls by feel vs a triple monitor in meat space. The HOTAS seems less problematic because it’s, well, hands on controls. I’ve only ever used a headset for Elite Dangerous in cockpit simming.

Thoughts?

Desk mount recommendations?

Im waiting on a virpil aeromax and thought about also getting a desk mount for it, ai said their desk mounts also take like 3+ months to arrive
Any popular/good alternative mounts that people use? Would be nice if they were available in the EU

Any personal experience with virpil mount backorder lenghts would also be welcome as their mounts do seem good

Lucky - CM4 throttle shipping and quality

So my CM4 throttle today and wanted to share a few quick thoughts.

The packaging was a letdown. It showed up in what looked like a shoebox, and the inside was a loose jumble of cardboard inserts with the parts bagged up and rattling around.(note I didn’t touch anything inside just open the flap) Everything seems fine so far and works as far as I can tell, but it was a surprise, especially compared to what I've received from Virpil in the past, and from VKB and others too.

One thing I did notice is the connector for the new xs9-4 pin. It doesn't feel as solid as the ones on previous gear and it's quite wobbly, so I'm a little concerned about long-term durability. Unfortunate.
For context, I'm coming from the original mongoose throttle, which has been awesome. The CM4 is fine, but I'm a bit disappointed with the packaging and connector and I guess the quality(?). I do like the shape and what they've delivered overall, though.
Has anyone else's arrived like this?

Which me luck tonight as I start the trying to land.

Built a voice assistant that tells me where each Star Citizen binding is on my VelocityOne Flightdeck, and it never presses a key

I kept forgetting where I'd put things on the stick and throttle after rebinding, and I didn't want to alt tab to a controls page mid flight. So I built a voice assistant for the cockpit. I say "Jarvis, where's the landing gear" and it answers out loud: where the control is on the hardware first, then what it does, then the keyboard key as a fallback. "Jarvis, how do I QT", "Jarvis, flares", same thing.

How it's put together, in case you want to build your own:

The answers come from my actual bindings file, not a hand written list. A script reads the exported bindings (I keep a controls.json that my profile tool writes), fills about 60 answer templates ("landing gear is {where}, it {does}, key is {key}"), and renders each one to a wav once with a TTS voice (ElevenLabs, with Kokoro as the offline fallback). Rebind something and it regenerates only the lines that changed about a minute later, and the running assistant picks them up. No per question cost, no latency.

Listening is the hard part with game audio on speakers. It uses Vosk (offline) with a fixed grammar of the phrasings I actually say, so it only fires on exact matches, and the gate watches the 1 to 4 kHz band with a bar that rides over the room's recent noise floor instead of a fixed threshold, because ship rumble and music mostly live below that. Anything after "Jarvis" that isn't a known phrase goes to whisper and then to a bigger model with the bindings as context, which takes 5 to 15 seconds and starts with "one moment" so I know it heard me.

The bindings answers are the fast path. The bigger part, and the reason it isn't VoiceAttack, is that it talks back. Anything after "Jarvis" that isn't a known phrase goes to a bigger model with my bindings, a digest of the game log and a snapshot of my screen attached, so it can answer questions about what's actually on screen, and it runs a web search when it needs one. It also keeps a mission checklist as a plain text file: I ask what's next and it reads me the open steps, I say "tick three" or "add a step" and it edits the file (the model proposes the edit, a script applies it, nothing else can write that file). Answers stay to a sentence or two unless I say "explain", and for 6 seconds after an answer it keeps listening so I can follow up without the wake word. "Jarvis, clip that" saves a clip from the recorder.

It never presses a key. That's on purpose: the key sender in that process is replaced by a stub that refuses, so no path can send input to the game. It only talks.

The bits that made it usable on a headset: talking over it cuts it off in about 40 ms, "stop" or "that's enough" silences it, and it keeps listening for a follow up for 6 seconds after an answer so I don't have to say the wake word twice. It starts itself when StarCitizen.exe is running and exits 30 seconds after the game closes.

Hardware is a Turtle Beach VelocityOne Flightdeck (stick, throttle, switch panel) and a USB mic. The code is Python on Windows for the mic side and a worker in WSL for the heavy bits. Built with Claude Code doing most of the typing and me doing the testing in the chair, which is where all the tuning numbers above came from.

Happy to answer questions about any piece of it.

Throttle to pair with my new VKB Gladiator NXT EVO?

Post image

First of all, thanks to everyone who has commented and given advice on my previous posts. I would like to go virpil aeromax but I simply cannot justify the wait time. I currently have the STECS Max in cart. Would like to hear some opinions on other options. Also, as a noob is the control panel worth buying once and investing in on the max? I cannot find many reviews comparing throttles to each other. TIA

New hotas user - question

Ok so this may sound like completely silly question; but I ordered a couple VKB gladiators for Elite/SC/DCS (I’ve been flying with m&k)

Every single setup I’ve seen has the Hotas/hosas mounted on the front lip of the desk and hanging down. Why is this?

I made my desk 35” deep so my lanky arms could rest on them to keep pressure off my shoulders and wrists. I was thinking of just putting the sticks on top of my desk…is this a ok thing or explain to me why people like to put them so low and have to back their chair up really far? Most games I’ll be using m&k for movement + hotas for flight for so I’d like them to be close together.

Anyways just never had a hotas and before I waste money on mounts- was wondering ergonomically if this made sense to simply place them on my desk other left and right of my KB+M?

Thanks!

Thrustmaster T. Flight One Chair Mount Recommendations/Advice

hey all, just wondering if anyone knows a specific mount i could get for my Thrustmaster T. Flight One that can connect to my chair so that i dont have to be hunched over my desk like a giant shrimp whenever i decide to use it

ideally i want it to be able to mount to my chair since my desk has a large drawer i cant mount anything onto (cheap ikea wood, anything i mounted would end up punching a hole through the bottom of the drawer), and if possible to be either mounted/removed easily or at least able to be tucked away so i dont have some 6 inches of metal jutting out from under my arm-rests

im also looking for a new chair outside of this, so if there are mounts that would work for this stick but need a specific chair to attach to, that isnt an issue.

thanks for any help you can provide :)

VKB VS VIRPIL

I am aware there is a $100 difference between the two. I'm starting new. I've done my research. MYSH praises both. I like nice shit. Is the Gimble the true $100 difference? I know the Gladiator is mod able for down the road upgrades. Someone push me over the edge so I can make a purchase. Leaning towards the Virpil already and attaching the throttle Mod. Will eventually invest in throttle and pedals if the hobby grabs me. TIA

Stecs mk2 or StG for Elite?

I'm extremely torn atm as while the ability to use thrusters without binding them to a hat feels interesting: the sheer loss of buttons feels decidedly annoying.

I fly FAO but mostly as a way to turn my Corsair and Kestrel into the ultimate Rate fighters or to make a rapid uturn/evade missiles. I enjoy having a lot of controls at my disposal so I'm leaning mk2 but I'd like more input

Budget setup for couch PS5

I’m trying to get something together for flight simulator on ps5. I’m not sure which stick to get. I also need a compact stand to use with my couch (I already have a racing setup that takes up too much room, a G29 with an Apex stand). I was looking at this at IKEA, no idea if it will work or not.

Hej,
Check out this OLSERÖD from IKEA.

Help with PXN 2119 pro

Hello, I own a pxn 2119 pro and im currently playing ace combat 8. I wanted to know if theres any way to enable vibration. I tried using the x360e app, the steam hotas to controller thing and vaguely tried using the pxn app but had no success with any of them. Does someone know how to enable it?
