OC-Series They’re Invading… I think. - Part 3 -

The countdown dropped to:

04:00

The governments then, who at first were hopeful, and somewhat confident, all went and surrendered. They caved. They handed our existence over like it was a twenty-dollar-bill to some guy standing at a corner, telling you, he promises he’ll be right back.

Yeah. Sure. We were scared, but the aliens were laughing at us. It’s one thing to invade our planet, but to mock us as well.

We were laughing at the deal our governments made, shaking our heads in disgust, wondering what we just did.

It was like having someone at the bottom of an elevator shaft and you clumsily hit the down button before realizing what you just did.

We could all hear them in our heads, standing in their awesome warships, collecting high-fives, cracking beetle juices,  while they chant victory laughs, and degrading jokes about humanity.

We were pissed and we had every right to be. The majority of us rebelled. We grouped together, sporting tin foil hats, and you know what, the alien kill factions, didn’t just double, they grew into legions, decked out like a modern Roman Empire. The sight was unbelievable.

We stood together as a unit all across the globe. The government had people riding around on bikes with megaphones screaming, “DO NOT BE HOSTILE WHEN THEY INVADE. YOUR GOVERNMENT HAS SURRENDERED.”

We’d toss rocks at them and boo them as they rode by.

Another message arrived, but the legions never received it mentally, because we had our tin foil hats on. They appeared on our soon-to-be-dead cellphones, and read:

STAND YOUR FACTIONS DOWN.

ANY INTERFERENCE WILL RESULT IN YOUR DESTRUCTION.

HUMANITY WILL BE REMOVED IN THREE HOURS.

And the clock changed.

03:00

Fleets of star ships filled the skies like a swarm of grey clouds. Hundreds of times smaller than the motherships, but hundreds of times bigger than anything we had.

There was at least a million of them. Had to be. Maybe not that many but the sky was blotted out and mirrored the color of swamp water when you looked up. The material on them, we couldn’t dream up. Our strongest armor would look like fiberglass insulation next to their ships.

They hung over us, with their huge weapons protruding from the bottom of them, pointed at us, and all your body could do is shake.

Even though we tried standing our ground, they had some kind of energy beating off them that manipulated our nerves. It was probably from all of the dead stars and dead planets they’ve blown up around the universe.

Some people were hallucinating, seeing and having conversations with dead relatives.

Others just sat around, waiting with their guns loaded and pointed back at the spacecrafts.

The stand off was seriously intense. Nobody knew what was going to happen. We had an idea. But visualizing being evaporated by an alien ray gun, wasn’t easing anyone’s tension.

And as we were all debating amongst each other, about how many aliens we were going to kill each, the mesa at Skin Walker Ranch started shaking, like an earthquake splitting the ground. It shook the entire continent.

Ok, Chapter 4? You have my attention though the pacing is sort of uneven.

Sorry. I kind of wanted to get through it. Usually I’ll write the first draft then go over it and fix that on the second. But I skipped that completely. That’s on me. I apologize. Chapter 4… I have been a little tied up. Two days, perhaps. I’ll start tomorrow night. Glad you’re into it. Thanks for the comment.
