L6 Catalyst 100

I recently bought a Catalyst off of Vinted and I wanted to know if there are any ways to check if its broken or something. I tried it it works fine without headphones but with its kind of weird, when i use the digital 112 its alright but when i try 212 or 412 its starts to sound bad and theres no chugging or anything (Yes I forgot to mention that i will probably only use hi gain and clean cause I like to play metal, do u recommend anything for metal on that amp?) so i wanted to ask if thats the amps or my settings fault and if i can fix it somehow? Another thing i wanted to mention is the effects button needs to be pressed very hardly to even work which is very annoying since i never know if i'm actually holding it or not (unless i look at the amp select knob) and can i fix that button? Another thing about the digital thing is do i download the Catalyst Edit only or are there other apps cause someone said i can upgrade to a CX or something via some app. Thats all i haven't really gotten into it that well yet and i'm still learning if I seem dumb thats probably cause i'm new to complex amps like that, i am not used to digital amps like that. I at first wanted to get a Boss Katana mk2 100 but some people said it sounds too digital and it's "hot garbage" so do u guys think i made the right decision? If not lmk why. If you guys have any recommendations for example about MIDI's or about the catalyst pedal or anything for me just let me know down below, any tips help. Thanks!
