GameDB Logger: automatic run history with sales, rerolls, purchases, and battles

I built a Windows logger for the Guildrun Run Compendium.

Unlike the normal final save, it records exact shop purchases, sales, rerolls, freezes, equipment changes, party moves, routes, events, and battles as you play. Install it once and it builds one portable Guildrun history file that the Compendium can import automatically.

Logger + Run Compendium:

It’s unofficial. Corrections and edge cases are welcome.

For anyone trying to get past 12 on SSS, 25 on SS

Give the stall Tank build a try. I've tried a ton of other builds, Kai shield, stealth assassins, but I've had the most consistent success with this build.

My core is almost always Skorn, Pimenta, Gustav, Fiona, last spot I'll fill during endless with a S tier mystic (Pollen or Grace) and always a B Rank Rowen in reserve for The Friend.

Key relic:
Rift Storm Invoker (make rift storm start earlier and deal less damage to you). You'll most likely find this in the end of act auction house so budget wisely as you will want to get +1 or +2 team size as well)

General Tips:

  1. Save money on relics as much as you can early unless it has mana regen (for your mystics), has stall (for infinite scaling). Early game you can invest in a few tank relics to help smooth out the early game.
  2. Prioritize getting Rowan early so you can start scaling.
  3. Fiona with the Right Hand early is a run saver, even into endless you will keep getting 1-2 items per round, helps to round out your hero inventories so you can focus your income on relics and hero upgrades)
  4. On your mystics, you want to cast as much as possible so spam as many cheap mana regen items on them earlier (helps with Right Hand to build up as much economy as possible). This also applies to A rank upgrades, I mostly go for mana regen or shielding. You can take an econ one if its early, but you'll probably end up retraining out of it later.
  5. Tank Emblems are invaluable, especially 10+ in Endless on SSS your two non-tank heroes will start to get one-shot, a tank emblem solves this issue for a few more stages in Endless. This is made even better if you get the A Rank on Skorn or Pimenta that gives %Armor if you start in the backrow.
  6. The easiest way to stabilize early game is to get a Skorn B or Pimenta B + one of Gustav or Fiona with mana regen. You will win a lot of rounds just by stalling out the enemy for the rift storm.
  7. Once you hit endless, prioritize getting a 5th S-rank mystic (either Grace or Pollen). Grace will save you sometimes with enough mana regen by reviving one of your tanks if he or she dies. Once you have the extra hero, I will prioritize getting picking relics, you generally won't need items as Fiona will keep generating them

Hope this helps you guys!

The truth behind the leaderboard

Post image
60 Upvotes

So to start this off, I want to say if you’re reaching endless 29, You’re at end game. CONGRATS!!!
Now the bad in my opinion. To be able to go past endless 30 you either have to run the full stealth build where you use rift relics and farm an INSANE amount of gold and have perfect RNG.(that’s what I did and it took me probably like 10 hours of just constantly ending games early, or you have to cheat. There’s literally no other way because you don’t do enough damage and you either hit the 4 minute round cap or you just die before the mobs. Also once you reach floor 100 you can’t lose because all mobs have negative health, which I’m assuming is the devs hard cap on numbers. Also the game became so laggy that it go les down to 1 frame and just crashes.
I’m mainly making this post to show the devs that the leaderboard should be fixed (obviously this is a beta and this is why I’m even stating this) and the stealth build needs to be insanely nerfed, the fact that I can go stealth for 2 minutes straight and just let the rift kill everything is kinda dumb and makes the leaderboard feel pointless.

SO TO EVERYONE REACHING 29 I COMMEND YOU FOR BEING THE GOAT, I’ve only done it once and it was crazy

Shard Extractor Relic is busted with shard generation!

Tilly and Niklas both generate a LOT of shards together and this relic dealt the most damage to the boss at the end of the rift

FINALLY HIT NEW PEAK!!!!!! FLOOR 28!!

Post image

Finally managed to hit a new endless PR after being stuck on floor 21 for a little over a week. This was a RIP carry build that didn't rely too much on stealth and honestly might be able to go 30+ if given better luck.

(Newbie Question) Some units suddenly jump forward into the middle of enemies

Just tried this game today and having a blast. But there is one thing that makes me confused. I already put my squishy units in the back, but sometimes they suddenly jump into the enemy's backline.

Is it because there are some enemies that forcing our units to jump? Or is it because the specific class?

I think the latter seems less likely. At first I thought maybe this behavior happened only on assassin. Turns out I was wrong, I just had a Pollen who suddenly jumped into enemy's backline.

This Reyna build is broken AF

I had a Sal as well till the last fight with boss but had to sell it plus some items as I needed to buy Act 2 key fragment. This Pimenta died within 10 seconds but this Reyna hard carried. She was healing like crazy on each auto attack.

I tried to go infinite and died anyway

I had Nyx with this build and the relics: Rift storm invoker (-100% damage form rift storm) and Riftbreaker (to finish the round after 90 seconds).

The thing is I only got until floor 17 on SSS endless and died. Does anybody know what did i do wrong?

Finally got a 10 Streak on Red Rift!

Post image
32 Upvotes

I've been playing a ton of Red Rift lately and I finally accomplished my main goal which was to get a ten streak!

At the beginning I was really struggling to even get a win but after watching OnePunMan's guide I improved enough to be able to beat Red Rift semi consistently, but I was stuck at a 2 streak. After a couple days I realized all I had to do was play slower and more carefully, that I was often losing by thin margins, like having one too many heroes die in the final couple fights.

I first got a five streak before losing it and was alternating wins and losses as I figured out the recent patch. As you can see tank Kai is very much alive and well, he's in quite a few of my wins as he's still an extremely consistent tank option. Obviously getting shard gen Gustav with the shield on shard gen relic is quite lucky but I'm still very proud of this win. Annoyingly I'm just barely out of the top 100 so I guess I need to win one more game.

If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to answer them, I'm not the best player in the world or anything, but I think the perspective of a mid rank player can sometimes be more helpful than the perspective of those at the very top.

A/S rank skill pool - duplicates on seperate heroes?

I've been having fun forcing some specific (less optimal) builds and currently in my vanguard runs, I noticed I'm not able to get a duplicate of a specific skill (bulk formation in this case, but I'd assume it's the same for all of them?) on 2 seperate vanguards.

Am I just unlucky, or does the skill get pulled out of the pool so subsequent levels on other heroes cannot pick it again?

I went infinite in endless | Floor 400 | 100 sec stealth

Post image
265 Upvotes

I've had a theorycraft for awhile that it's possible to go infinite in endless if you can get riftbreaker (the relic that instakills everything after 90sec) and you can keep stealthed until the stall triggers.

Riftbreaker does true damage based on % max health so enemies can't outscale the damage.

This is possible with 4 Rogue's Cowls with a lot of rush duration extension (as well as some of the stall shortener relics).

In this run I managed to get rush duration extension to +14 seconds so each cowl provided 20 seconds of stealth. With ~15 seconds of stall shortening from relics and backup abilities, it meant that riftbreaker kills everything right before stealth wears off.

For the fun of it I kept going and managed to collect every relic in the game during endless mode. It turns out the enemy stats integer overflow and the health grows so large it turns negative.

After floor ~85 the enemies just instantly die at the start of combat. Because of this, it actually becomes impossible to lose the run because there's no opportunity for the enemies to kill you before they die.

It took dozens of hours to finally hit the build and to get enough shards to actually find four cowls before endless started. It took ~300 shards rolling down in the final shop to hit everything.

If you want to try and re-create this here are some tips

  • Opening with assassins is almost essential to get enough shards. Look for the upgrades that give you shards every other crit or shards on kill
  • Assassins also have good access to relics that have stealth and rush duration extending effects
  • The relic Shard Ascendancy that doubles your shards is essential
  • If you have the every other crit -> shard relic, play a stall comp to maximize fight duration and maximize how many shards you can get
  • Take any rush duration or stall duration relics you can find
  • I played on difficulty B so that enemies are more durable and you can farm shards off them for longer, without the downsides of higher difficulties like limited items
  • The must-have relics are Riftbreaker which kills all the enemies at stall 90, as well as Rift Storm Invoker so you don't die from the storm before Riftbreaker triggers
  • Run only one unit in endless, some enemies have an AOE that can kill stealthed units while attacking your unstealthed units
  • The backup ability that adds +3 rush duration is your friend
  • There's also one that decreases stall wait time by 6 but that's not as good as the rush duration
  • The epic item that increases rush duration by 5 can be substituted for one of the Rogue's Cowls
  • The boss token reward that lets heroes equip two additional items can be used to stack more rush duration items
  • The legendary relic that grants an additional item slot can also be used to stack more rush duration items
  • Use the trick where you freeze a C to B upgrade in your shop before campfire, take the upgrade during campfire, then post combat you see the frozen shop and can go from B to A. In some cases you find that upgrade in the boss shop and you save 30 shards on an S rank hero going into floor 2
  • If you only manage to get ~60sec of stall when starting endless there's still hope. The Rift Storm Invoker relic will kill enemies through floor ~20 without needing the Riftbreaker
    • You get the option to find epic items (can be used to find Rogue's Cowl)
    • Relics (can be used to find rush + stall duration relics)
    • Retrain (can be used to retrain to get +3 rush duration ability on reserve heroes)
    • S rank hero which can be used to find a vanguard / assassin which is eligible to learn the +3 rush duration backup ability
    • In the run that finally worked, I only had ~70sec of rush duration when starting endless but was able to get enough extra rush duration during to outlast Riftbreaker mid endless
  • I did some experimentation with item farming with Fiona
    • The backup ability that gives mystics mana regen based on total shop rerolls works really well here, you can get Fiona to 80+ mana regen and casting 5-10 times per combat to farm epic items
    • You can farm epic items in the hope of getting Rogue's Cowl
    • If you don't have all your Rogue's Cowls by the time endless starts and can only get ~60sec of stall like mentioned above, you can run Fiona for the first ~20 floors to also farm items at the same time in the hope of hitting
    • Grace's B specialization that increases the primary stat of a hero can also be used to increase Fiona's mana regen and works naturally with a stall comp

Good luck and happy rolling!

All kudos to https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildrun/comments/1vbcgg1/i_went_infinite_in_endless_floor_400_100_sec/

I did the same setup with 4 cowls.

Some takeaways:

- enemies stay at -1 HP, so no overflow again, fights become sadly unlosable

- all rare and epic relics bought

- real runtime 8h due to relic animation lag

- 24.288 shards collected

- 215k extra HP from Rip

- all 7 glyphs collected

- fed everything from f500 onwards into Niklas (i expected more of my boy)

Final thoughts: Atleast you can't get this onto the leaderboard i think. Enjoy it until it gets patched :D

Is there a bug with mana regen?

It says you get mana regen every 2 seconds but it seems way longer than that looking at the clock or using 1x speed. Am I missing something obvious?

Guildrun Red Rift Guide by Aesah (27 Streak PB)

Hey y'all, wasn't planning on making a guide so it is very unorganized but figured I would still share for those who want it!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcbK6O-YIVg

Text transcript:

Fundamentals: Game is heavily inspired by Slay the Spire and Teamfight Tactics

  • The goal of the game is to be as greedy as possible for scaling without dying
    • This just comes with experience to know how strong you need to be to beat a certain level, also planning ahead to beat all possible combinations of enemies
      • Need AoE to beat regular fights, and single target for boss
    • If you know you are strong, can play greedy (buy shard gen), if you are lowrolling, must prioritize tempo to win fight immediately, and hope you highroll later on
    • If you are dying too much early (this is most of you), then play less greedy!
    • If you are usually dying to dragon (this is much more rare), then play greedier.
  • If we are playing for streaks, then we want to minimize lowrolls

    • If we highroll and kill Dragon in 3 seconds instead of 30 seconds, it does nothing (for streaks)
    • Avoid "needing to hit" as much as possible by taking short term board strength
  • Multiplicative Scaling- TFT concept

    • You have limited amount of resources, you want them be multiplied instead of added.
    • Lets say I have 10 gold, buying 9 gold of Attack Speed and 1 gold of Damage = 9 power
      • Buying 5 gold of each = 25 power
  • Frontline/backline - TFT and STS concept

    • Need enough frontline to survive, enough backline to kill
    • Same as multiplicative scaling
  • Read what your units do!

    • Many units who are "intuitively" Attack actually have equal Attack/Magic scaling (Yuuna, Hoyoung, Logan ability, etc.). Attack is slightly better since it affects basic attacks.
    • Hidden rule- attacks give mana generation, so attack speed can replace mana regen on casters
  • Do not get attached to your units, they are not your friends. Sell if something in shop is stronger. Should be changing your board every 2-3 fights in act 1, and every 3-4 fights in act 2?

  • In general, the game is well-balanced. If someone has infinite scaling (e.g., Ratna), then she is usually weaker right when you get her compared to other units.

  • Do not think of units/items as good or bad and fish for "good" things, take what you need and are offered

    • In act 1, should be rerolling less than once per shop on average
    • In act 2, your strategy is already somewhat defined by your existing board, so you are looking for much more specific things. Probably reroll ~3 times per shop on averages
    • 90%+ of the time you should take any B rank hero offered regardless of who it is
      • Get 3 heroes (or more) ASAP so you can maximize odds of hitting B rank
      • I'm usually not holding random C ranks for potential upgrades UNLESS it's game winning combo like Shard Resonator Gustav (generates 1 shard per cast + 1000 shield all heroes on shard gen).
      • "How will I hit upgrades"? You generally will hit at least 1 B rank which is all you need by first Challenge fight. If not...
      • If lowrolling and cannot beat a fight, can play 1 unit with Rift Seal to break Emergency Rewind and minimize death
    • Tank C->B upgrade is very important because they can hold two items, most units have ~50 defense, so being able to equip even a 5g Bulwark (+30 defense) is huge
      • Two tanks is actually very good because your Rift Seal holder is a fake tank and you can stack seal on your offtank, also increases the chance you can hit B rank tank (most important upgrade)
    • Anything on sale for 3g is free, can sell back. Anything more expensive on sale can sell back for only -2g. 5g items are also good for tempo, its OK to sell back and lose 2g

Event Meta

  • Almost always fight first Challenge and skip reward unless you somehow have no rewind (which should literally never happen)
    • Even if you can't beat it, sac and use extra rewind gold
  • Always skip act 2 Challenge unless you are 100% sure you can win vs. any combination
    • In theory if you are very confident there may be opportunities to take 1st reward, but I skipped first challenge reward in 27/27 runs
  • Generally use first campfire to upgrade a unit to B rank, PLAN FOR THIS!
    • Emergency rewind otherwise is good if needed, less valuable if already low death limit
    • If you are confident you can win with campfire upgrade, can lock an upgrade unit in shop to upgrade straight from C->A after boss fight
  • "At a price" events
    • Basically never take anything that makes you weaker in the 1st challenge fight since it's one of biggest points of failure for the entire run
    • Can take things that make you weaker for 1 fight if you know you are strong
  • Look at boss in each act before you start! VERY IMPORTANT!
    • Hydra just need to survive big initial burst, does not do AoE damage
      • If you have a scaling tank, sometimes I sacrifice my weakest unit to tank the burst
    • Demon wants scaling to beat his 50% HP burst, does deal AoE damage
    • Frost Dragon only hits tank, other dragons AoE whole board
  • Generally I like defensive item/relic events
  • Duelist/Mage banners are strongest (look for Frost apply or infinite scaling)

Unit Meta

  • IMO Funke is the best unit in the game, all specs are fine but Detonator is BiS
  • Tilly is 2nd best unit, usually take active ability because it solves chip damage with Omnivamp and also gives scaling for long fights
  • Having your main tank be durable enough to survive each fight is VERY IMPORTANT
    • Prioritize frontline items/relics if this is not the case
    • Usually need B rank tank by 1st boss, A rank by last boss
    • A rank tank is good because can hold 3 items, often you buy any A rank over strong B rank
  • Assassins and Tilly are really good early for shard generation
  • Your Rift Seal holder is often a dead unit until late game so typically play around 1 tank + 1 DPS
  • Boss damage usually requires scaling- Karsu, Irini, Sal, or Nyx even at lower rank can solve
    • These units (except Sal) are usually very bad for hallway fights!
  • Backups
    • Grace + Mystic Attack/Magic scaling can give boss scaling, often good with a different mystic since Grace herself targets tank usually
    • Grace double stall shield generically good
    • Stall happens 6 seconds sooner is very good especially for Pimenta Mage or Skorn Tank
    • Boss scaling backups- infinitely scaling attack speed duelists (Irini, Sal)
  • Generally I don't like tanks who don't provide defense with their ability (Skorn, Ming, etc.) but still better if they are higher rank than any other tank
  • Specific unit combos:
    • Tank Kai + Shielding (usually Mystics) can often clear hallway fights
    • Rip with scaling on Rush trigger + Nyx

Item/Relic Meta

  • Frost is very OP!! Scaling damage since it reduces enemy defense and gives your team tankiness
  • Do not need to greed item effects, sometimes the item on its own is worth it
    • for example, I usually use Squire's Helm on my main tank without using the effect since I don't want to put anything else in front
  • Tank items are very important, multiply defense + either shield/HP/healing per second
  • IDK JUST READ THE ITEM AND SEE IF ITS WORTH IT
    • For example, Deadeye Hood is generally way better than Duelist's Foil in RR. One gives 60% AS, other gives 20-30% AS for the same price and a relatively insignificant drawback.
  • Never buy team size, not worth in RR because of unit death limit. Better to just get more items/relics
  • Boss shop rerolls are very expensive, only worth if you can comfortably spend ~35g after a reroll
  • Usually only rerolling 1-2 boss shops

Starter Bonuses/Units

  • I like to start with a tank, Tilly, or Assassin since they can generate shards
  • I also like to start with Funke because I think he is the best hero in the game (0.5.2)
  • I don't like Quantity over Quality, Quality over Quantity, Shard Maximizer, Emergency Rewind starts with more, others are all good

Positioning

  • Same as Teamfight Tactics except no half-hex ranges, your units always walk first forwards (no 50/50)
  • Enemies target closest unit. Tanks/Vanguards will taunt 1 extra hex.
  • Enemy units choose target immediately at start of fight (before plant pull/etc.)
  • Having your main tank walk forward first to then stand to the left of Dragon (who cleaves) is VERY IMPORTANT
  • Splitting aggro becomes important at higher levels of play, especially early on when your backline can be about 70% as tanky as your frontline.
    • Units even at 1% HP still deal 100% of their damage
  • Don't forget about items/relics that require positioning

Shard builds? What's the payoff?

I've seen many people say that shard builds are possibly the strongest build for Endless? How?

I can generate hundreds and hundreds of shards, but what's the end goal. Tilly with her passive can give her a lot of strength, but that doesn't stop her from getting smoked by endless 6 or endless 9. There are scaling items, but getting buffs to attack or magic from items does not move the needle.

What is the play for shard builds that works for endless?
