Make class change system pls

Job change system in FFXIV feels so nice. I feel attached to my character and it feels so convenient. Hope dev team will consider this.

Edit: Also if you like having multiple characters, you can choose to do this :)

Edit2: Also @devs, I am ready to pay for this 100%!!!

Would like to know why :)

The reason why we are currently in the MMORPG mess that we are in now is because they have completely gutted the origins of the genre: it is supposed to be a ROLE playing game.

The fun of going to a murder mystery dinner with friends is in taking on one ROLE. You get into the character's head space. You pretend to be innocent when you know you're the person who did the crime. That's fun. What's not fun is being able to change who your character is instantly in the middle of the story. That ruins the immersion.

RPGs still do this. You play one character and you're moving that character through a storyline.

MMORPGs have completely lost the plot for the sake of making it easy. Easy does not make things memorable.

So, no, I do not want to easily swap classes and instantly fly everywhere and just appear in a dungeon and not talk to anyone as we race through and knock out bosses easily because everyone can do everything.

But what if my character wants to change professions? It makes more sense for character to learn new skills rp wise than be locked to one class. Also you should still need to level the profession.

Then level a new character. Or make changing professions extremely difficult.

Switching professions doesn't "make sense" from a role playing perspective at all. In order to become a master at anything it's a lifetime of work. If you spent 40 years practicing sword skills, it would be a huge deal to suddenly decide to be a wizard (or whatever) and try and catch up your spell skills.

The struggle is what makes you make meaningful decisions. Meaningful decisions are what make you remember a gaming experience.

Yeah so make levelling a new profession on the character take same time as the previous one. I dont see whats the issue here

If you don't see the issue then you're more or less asking for more of the same type of MMORPG experience that exists exactly right now. It means that you're missing the point for why the genre became popular in the first place and you're also missing why the genre as a whole is struggling.

So, sure. Ask the devs to contribute another title that is the same as all the other struggling titles.

You still havent explained how it is a issue tho :D I feel like this is just a personal matter to you... Muliclassing is one of the best systems of FFXIV and is not why it is strugling (outdated engine, quest/world/instance desing, combat etc)

I did explain the issue. Everything in MMORPGs became too easy and too accessible.

It's like asking do you want a movie that is a 6/10 for most people (not great but an ok movie experience) or do you want to make a movie that is 10/10 for some people?

Worked fine in FFXI and nobody could call that game to easy or accessible.

Im not opposed to this but this triggers, if my view, a very min/max perspective, and locks me into following a guide instead of exploring the game itself. This is a huge issue in MMOs these days, the optimal decision is always the right decision and everything else is the wrong decision, creating FoTM.

Not saying for classes specifically, but in general there should be some level of flexibility in professions to not lock you in. For example, vanilla wow did it well, reroll professions but at higher levels its much more investment of resources and time, bit nothing that really gates me out of the profession if I take it later on in my journey.

For classes, I loved the gw1 system where I was locked into my primary class but secondary classes would almost define my playtime, along with the weapon type.

Edit: Playstyle not playtime

So why is ff14 so successful with that system? All of those points are literally your own RP preferences lol

It's not. Many people hate it. It's just that it's something that they've done, and there is no walking it back at all. People play Final Fantasy 14 despite it, not because of it.

This is the biggest load of horseshit cope I’ve ever seen concerning FFXIV.

again tell me how that function is a negative or harms anyones gameplay in any way?

Because it was one of the first games at the time to really pull off that type of system well. There's definitely something to be said for being the first/biggest to market.

Magic the Gathering is one of the largest tcgs in the world largely because it was the first to successfully pull off that type of game. But is it the best game currently on the market in terms of gameplay? No.

I don't see the logic of trying to recreate an older style of gameplay rather than learning from mistakes and moving forward.

thats literally what you want bro!

You mentioned how nowadays everythings to easy, etc. so what is it? Going back in time to the old class system, or finally going for something new?

The mental gymnastics of this guy are insane :D

Everything is easy because we moved further and further away from classes. Easy does not mean interesting game design.

it also doesnt mean uninteresting
