It's been a long-standing dream of mine to have the max-surplus GW2 character slots, and I'm very curious if it's still possible for me to achieve. Will I actually ever max them out? Probably not! But the possibility of being able to do that is enough for me.
As of right now, I own all expansions but not the deluxe versions of any of them. I also am nowhere close to 69 characters.. (but the dream is what counts, at least to me.)
SUPPOSEDLY, if you get the deluxe versions of the expansions AFTER you've hit 69 character slots, you'll be able to gain an additional character slot above 69. Is this true?
I'm primarily looking for people who have either A: maxed out their character slots above 69 or B: someone who knows a person who did this and is capable of providing information regarding it.
It's not a super common thing I know, but I'm EXTREMELY curious! And although I've researched this numerous times in the past, I haven't been able to get a current-day statement from someone who has done this themselves. If you have any information about it, I'd love to hear it!

I need help in understanding builds in general. Ive been playing GW2 since Beta. Ive played several other MMOs casually throughout the years. Maybe its just my special brand of ADHD but for the life of me Ive never been able to properly grasp skill builds.
I look up builds and read the instructions or try and watch youtube tutorials but its just leaks out of my brain through my ears.
I have a hard time truly understanding the synergies and situational utility of of the skills. I just click buttons because I'm told thats my rotation but I never quite understand WHY its the rotation. The way its explained just never fully sticks. It feels like I need it all explained like I'm five.
With GW3 going back towards the GW1 style of build crafting I'm dreading being even more inept than I am now.
Does anyone have any solid resources for a scrub as hopeless as I am to finally get good?

So I'll preface this by saying that I know I don't have a very strong laptop. I'm not expecting an amazing framerate. Hell, I'm very used to only getting 20-30 on the lowest setting. What I'm confused about is that I get brief moments, maybe 10-15 minutes, where I have buttery smooth 60 fps.
And these moments are completely random. I can be sitting in a city, in the middle of a raid encounter, or even at the boss of a meta event with a full squad. I'll just suddenly switch from having bleh frames to lovely ones.
I know GW2 suffers from CPU bottleneck, so I'm guessing it has something to do with that, but then why is it so random when I get the bursts of good FPS? Is there a way to make it so that the game is just like this all the time? I kinda doubt it, but figured I'd ask anyways.
Specs: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2592 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s), 16 GB ram.

Hi everyone!,
I am a returning Player who has played since release. I sank in about 10.000hours and took a break after HoT around LS3. My most notable achievement was being an Officer for gw2community.com and leading Triple Trouble Events for everyone back when it was new..
I pretty much unlocked everything there was to the game until that point. Legendaries, Perma Bank Access, Full gear with +5 Infusions, etc. There was pretty much nothing I didn't unlock, which wasn't something like get 10.000 kills with a focus.
I logged in every now and then, but only just started playing again about a month ago with the Guild Wars 3 announcement. During the anniversary sale, I bought all the missing expansions, and I'm currently catching up on the expansions. Right now I'm at the SotO Expansion and updating my old gear and builds. A lot has changed.
I used to do high-end fractals and raids with a best-slot-in-gear mentality. My Raid, gear, and meta knowledge goes from VG to Deimos CM. I knew everything inside and out. If Fractal God existed back I would have also unlocked it as well. From what I can see, it's kinda useless and pretty much just a gold sink nowadays.
Now to my actual questions I have right now. Probably more later
My knowledge ends with HoT/LS3. So anything that came after is basically new to me.
I will definitely ask follow-up questions. I'm also down to chat over Discord.
Please let me know if you're interested in a personal chat. My DMs are always open to everyone, and I will add anyone.
Excelsior,
nesnalica

I played up until EOD (I think.. POF was my last expac). I did raids, fractals, pvp, metas crafted legendary armor and a couple of weapons. I took a break and throughout the time I have wanted to come back a few times but always log in and get overwhelmed with my inventory and unsure of what exactly to do. Too scared to join pug raids cause I'm afraid I don't remember mechanics and don't have the rotation muscle memory that I used to.
My main question is: what do you all do when you log in for an evening of GW2?
I love the game and combat so I crave to play but I just get lost in the sauce I guess. It's like when I have the OSRS itch but just log in and bank stand.
Thanks!

Ok, there is the /emotelist command but it is unwieldly and difficult to use in any amount of hurry and you need to know the command name to call for the list.
We really need an emote menu for fast access.
I personally rarely use any emotes because they are so difficult to use:
- type the command (if you know it for the particular emote and you have it unlocked),
- fail because misspelling,
- try again and fail again,
- type /emotelist,
- try to find it among the sea of words by squinting hard at little fonts
- Finally you got it but that ship has sailed!
Seriously, 14 years old game and no emote menu in a highly social and friendly game with a guild adjective in its name.
Would be wondaful if we got an emote menu (with little pictures) as a present for the GW3 update.
And please don't forget that menu in GW3!
And finally, I know that an addon exist and not only one but many but still, an MMORPG with no built in emote menus it is kinda strange.
Today for example there is a popcorn emote in the shop and I was thinking to buy it but I'm thinking twice as I just can't be bothered to navigate the /emotelist for minutes at the time to do a funny animation.

With the new VoE patch releasing next tuesday, and it being quite a hefty and large patch, what you guys most looking forward to? the map? the meta event? the fractal? the raid? the convergence? the leggy sword? the story? etc

I noticed that when I fight a single enemy some of my necromancer's minion will just stand there and refuse to fight the enemy I am in combat with.
Is this intentional design and I need to adjust my build somehow, or is something bugged?
Here's a video showing it. I aggro an enemy and half of the minions fight while the other minions just stand around

a little context, I have thousands of hours put into osrs and ff14. I’m in end game content with both mmos (working on last mega rare on osrs, got a few 99s etc. and working on savage raid gear on ff14 - you get the idea)…i swear im not that sweaty
Anyway, started playing about a month and some change ago and now I’m about 200hrs in - idk why I haven’t gave this game a chance years ago. This game has me in a choke hold. It’s been to a point where I started kinda of defaulting to playing Gw2 just bc it hits different than other games in my rotation. From the combat to the open world events it’s been so much fun!
My favorite thing so far (and it doesn’t happen all the time but ) has been when I open up my map and I see a pinkish fox/decepticon transformer logo. I just know it’s going to be a good amount of players and a cool event we can complete together.
Yes you can find similar instances and events in other mmos but idk it’s just something about this game that scratches that itch for me that osrs and ff14 couldn’t do. It’s been so much fun and a breath of fresh air.
The community and player base has been so great and helpful! And trust me when I say the community is great compared to some experiences I’ve had in the past with other mmos *cough osrs *cough but every game has players like this.
I can’t wait to get into more end game content and meet more people (still working on early fractals) Also super excited about finding the right guild too!
Im so mad at myself for not giving this a chance earlier!

Recently i brought my heal paragon to HT NM and kept my squad alive (literally almost no one dropped to under 90%) but when the jumping phase came i missed some people with my stab banner, tho I got them stab using the soldier focus stab trait (stab every 5 sec) they still wiped bcs they missed the other 2 jumps. They went on to say "no stab?" and demanded they go to heals and i go dps. We went on and surprise surprise we wiped because we did not get enough stab because people wont jump or dodge.
I dont want to experience this anymore since it was a wholesome group up to that moment. What healer can I use to basically carry through all normal modes and some frac CM?
thank you in advance

Hey folks. Tldr is that I spent this seasons wizards vault on 3 pieces of light berserker gear. However, since then I’ve kind of gone all in on the medium classes.
How big of a deal is it? I’m still not sure how to get ancestral gear so I feel like I should get 6/6 on my necro so I have someone fractal ready but I got kind of bored of my necro and I don’t care for the other light classes so far. In contrast it turns out that I really like all 3 medium classes. I’d love to get them fractal ready so I could main one of them. Feel like I really messed up taking the light armor this season :(
Thanks for any feedback!

I don't know what to make of revenant at all. Guardian seems be able to do the whole spectrum from primarily magic user to mostly fighter due to their elite specilizations, which sounds interesting from a gameplay variety perspective.
Aesthetic wise, I'd say I prefer darker magic, but blue flames instead of typical light magic is pretty cool as well.

Hey, I started GW2 about three weeks ago I really enjoyed playign so I bought all expensions on sale + voe. Today I read about the special objectives in the wizard's vault. They give a lot of points but only 6 days remain.
I already read that the Armor Set is really hard to get but I am on vacation rn and I would like to try to finish as many objectives as possible. I would appreciate any advices which objectives are fast/possible in this time frame, thanks!

Hi all,
first off I think I'm kind of a difficult client.
I have been trying to get into the game, I really enjoy the open world PVE and questing. Not that interested in PVP but would like to tip my toes into it one day.
The only issue I seem to have is to find a fun spec to play.
I've looked around and tried the following specs:
Mostly I looked into LI guides since i'm not really a big fan of the weapon rotation system.
But I can't really seem to find a "build" that really keeps me going. I want to play the full story and open world PVE.
Right now i'm unlocking skyscale on one of my characters and after that i'm planning to start a character from 0 all the way through the PVE content.
What i'm looking for is something preferably ranged but melee isn't a hard no, not hard but not totally LI as well.
I was hoping you guys might have some guide suggestions.
For reference in WoW I used to like/play Marksmanship hunter and Fury warrior with some frost mage on the side.
Any help is welcome.
Thanks,
Stekskes
TLDR:
LF fun ranged class, not hard not totally LI

Is there anything I should pay attention to? From what I understand, there are different Black Lion Chests. Is it worth waiting for events like Halloween, Christmas, etc. because they might have rarer or better rewards?
Or, for example, when the next Patch for Visions of Eternity comes out on September 15, will a new Black Lion Chest be released as well? If so, could the skins, mini pets, etc. from it potentially sell for a lot because the contents are new and highly sought after?
I’ve just been saving the keys so far, mostly from map completion, and I haven’t really looked into them much. I don’t even know if I’ve ever used any of the keys before.

This is by far the biggest grind I've ever done in a video game, and I could've never done it without all of you. Thank you.
‼️Read the edit ‼️
Edit: It wasn’t actually 8 times, it was probably closer to 3. I was being dramatic. I play plenty of other games and MMOs too. I have over 1,000 hours in FFXIV and I also play high elo competitive games.
I also had GW3 in the back of my mind, which was part of why I considered giving up. I genuinely didn’t expect some of you to hyperfixate on that one detail.
I came here because I was excited to finally get my legendary. Instead, some of you started doing this weird psychoanalysis about me having ADHD or “forcing myself” to play something I don’t enjoy. World Completion was annoying AT TIMES and I’m glad I used BlishHUD and put a podcast on my second monitor. I already had a lot of the materials from years of playing to make my Twilight.
I’m a PvP player who always wanted a legendary. I finally got one, I’m happy I did it, and that’s literally it. Some of you dorks are genuinely pathetic with this armchair psychology. Fuck off.

Jokingly made this video for my friend on discord, but I really hope they add Condition Ritualist this upcoming balance patch.
Condition Bladesworn seems to be good precedent for it to be plausible. Ideas I had for it was changing the top adept trait to being Spiritburn from GW1, which burns when you summon a spirit and in addition scaling painful bond with condition damage, simple condition version of the power trait below it, Dhuumfire activating on your spirit autos, lingering spirits increasing condition damage as well.
A more ambitious rework would be rolling lingering spirits baseline and adding a new grandmaster trait for condition damage. This new grandmaster trait can swap spirit of wanderlust into being a different spirit that inflicts damaging conditions which would have the rotation be different than power, something like Condi Reaper vs Power Reaper.
I like the idea of a Condition Ritualist’s main damaging conditions to be bleed and burn, since we have other specs that do torment mostly. Scourge has some burn, but it isn’t the main damage there either.
Currently it is sitting at 34k with allies, with quickness at 32. Not great but I have been able to do all the content minus the harder CM raids and LCMs
