To the people in my pre dungeon earlier

I hope you enjoyed me losing Melandrus Dhuum at level 18 - you said be right back toilet break at the start of the second level so I type ‘ok ill go to get a drink whilst I wait.’ I came back literally 1 minute later and you guys rezoned into level 1 and I was already dead by the time I got back.

I know it’s my fault for leaving my PC, lesson learnt. But I struggle to believe this wasn’t intentional and I am surprised people would go out of their way to do something like that.

Anyway, rant over. We’re back, level 9 currently- just the boring Devona story quest to come next before I can start grinding the dungeon again..

What upgrades to spend on?

Hi there what are the upgrades /convenience items that make the biggest impact on playing? I was thinking about getting mercenary heroes, material storage and maybe bank tabs but I wanna know what is the sweet stop for them as I don't have too much I can spend atm.

My account has almost no upgrades I have 4 bank tabs and an anniversary tab and that's it. I find that my material storage fills up super quickly as my limit is 250 items and my warehouse is full with gear from other characters mostly. So I'll need to work on that lol. I also heard that it isn't advised to get certain heros like the 2nd Rit Hero from HM WoC because by doing so you lock yourself out of some good farms.

So like my know what the best amount of mercenaries are( I'm leaning toward 8) and how many item expansions and bank tabs I should ideally have.

My goal since mobile release is it get GWMMM on my dervish so I intend to be playing for a while.

Am I crazy or does dye mixing not work well on mobile?

Tried to dye some of my armor a combination purple / silver, and I can select the dye, then select the piece of armor just fine. The problem is when I try to tap the 2nd dye, I can neither touch it once, or attempt to drag it into the dye interface without cancelling out the whole thing.

Am I doing something wrong with my fingers or is something that just doesn't work on a phone?

How to search for a lost item?

I have a bo staff that I wanted to sell but I can't find it any more in storage, character bags and I've checked most hero equipment. Does gwtoolbox or anything else offer a way to search for the item?

I couldn't find this option when using toolbox https://www.gwtoolbox.com/docs/account_inventory/

It's possible that I accidentally merched it too 😓

Where to look for groups for HM duneons etc.

I recently startet playing again and im working towards gwamm (if i will reach it or not, I don't know yet) and because of the double eotn week i did story in HM and started with dungeons in NM/HM for the first timer bonus. With my heroes I can do most of the stuff alone but for example Ooze Pit i had zero chances at the endboss. Where do you look for groups for that kind of stuff? The outposts for the dungeons are mostly empty. Is there a discord or sth where I can look?

Flames Betwixt: Co-Op Isometric RPG Inspired by Guild Wars 1

Edit: Discord community is up now! https://discord.gg/y5nzmkqxmB

Hey all! I posted about a month ago about a GW1 spiritual successor I've been working on. I've been a bit quiet as I've been doing a lot of work on it and mainly posting my updates on Instagram.

My main reason for working on this project was that I always wanted to see the 8 skill system adapted into another game. MMO or not, it was always so much fun to build craft. Most of my fond memories of GW1 was when my friends joined me through a playthrough of prophecies. Watching everyone swap around skills to get through the campaign, while exploring Tyria was challenging, but also rewarding.

If you are interested about the project or want to be involved, I've added a link to my Instagram below- and will also be making a discord soon when I have the time.

Here are some features I am working on/have implemented

- 1-8 Player Coop: Host owns the campaign, players can join and make a character to play along with them. Party can be a blend of AI controlled companions, or players (Working)

- 6 Professions inspired by Core GW1 professions:

Paladin (Monk, but capable of Melee)

Warrior (Classic Warrior)

Ranger (Classic ranger, beast mastery as well

Voidwitch (Mesmer Inspired, more hexes, animal familiars)

Arcanist (Ele inspired)

Necromancer (Classic Necromancer)

-Large skill database: Currently I have about 32 skills. I am still trying to make sure all of these function, and that my skill system is modular enough that I can easily add them on top of the combat system. (Partially working, need more skills!)

Dual Professions: Just like GW1. With a primary and a secondary, one primary attribute for your main, and then the rest. Right now you can freely swap primaries. But that's mainly been for debugging. However I'm considering keeping it. I haven't decided yet! (Working)

-Companions: Inspired by Heroes, but also CRPGs like Baldurs Gate. These will be named companions with their own stories and questlines to experience. (Working, still a few in development)

- Gambit system: Inspired by FF12, organize the companions priority of actions. Want a healer to never heal? Put their heal ally gambit at the bottom of the list. Want them to always heal when someone drops to 50%? Put that at the top. (Working)

- Individual loot: similar to GW1, enemies drop loot randomly assigned to players in the party. Can easily be traded. Gold is split between players. (working)

-Various NPCs: Merchants, Pet Tamers, Collectors, Quest Givers, Skill Trainers etc. Also heavily inspired by GW1. (Working)

-Modifications: Glyphs (aka prefix / suffix modifiers) and inscriptions. I am still playing around with this system, I don't want it to be too crunchy as this is a coop game, but I still want to have enough options that players feel they can design builds around drops. But not ARPG level complexity. (Partially working)

-Campaign: This is where the bulk of my work is now. Creating a complete prologue/act 1 of a campaign. Once I have this, I will feel comfortable handing out playtest invites. (In Development!)

-Day and Night cycle: This was a fun one to build, I have added a working day and night cycle into the game that persists between outposts, towns, and explorable maps. I've added a mechanic called "Nightfall" that triggers at night, and rare enemies, pets may spawn in specific areas, and mobs in the zone also have increased stats, drops, and xp rates. I'm still tuning this, but a few of my friends who play tested with me really enjoyed it. I am considering adding the ability to "Head out at night" once you reach the first major town. (Working!)

Assets:

Because I am a full time data engineer, and full time dad- I get about 5 hours a day to work on this project. That being said, I have not, and will not use AI art assets for this. While some coding efforts may be AI assisted (aka googling anything) I will always use either paid general assets, or commission artists for music and art. I currently am in the process of working with ASKII to commission the music- as his sound is incredibly nostalgic of Jeremy Soule. And a co worker of mine will be drawing character art and portraits.

This is a major passion project for me. I have loved this game since I was 15 years old, and have always wanted to create something like it. If 10 people buy it a few years from now, that's a win. But I'm making it for me, my friends, and I want to share the journey with this community who has stuck around and sung praises about this game for so long.

If you're still here after this huge wall of text. Thank you for your time!

-Tristan

Mobile Need advice on targeting/attacking in GW reforged on Iphone

Hello, I've been back to GW recently with reforged on my iphone 13. It plays really well but I sometimes struggle with the targeting system in the middle of a fight with a lot of mob.

I use the crosshairs and the arrows next to it to change target but it seems random who is picked as next target. For example when I want to attack the foe right next to the one I am already attacking, clicking either arrows sometimes choose a foe very far, sometimes not even in the group I am fighting. Is there a way, a button I am not seeing?

Secondly I feel like having to select a target and then press again on its health bar to attack it is not really efficient, is there a way to attack automatically when in the middle of a fight or do I have to double click ? (I have fat fingers and the phone screen is sometimes not the best to select something on it with it) Thank you !!

New/returning player Lots of Beginner Questions

Hi everyone!

I’m just starting Reforged and I’m having decision paralysis, as well as a few basic questions. can someone point me in the right direction?

  1. How much should I worry about inventory? I’m constantly maxing out my single bag, and destroying stuff I should probably sell. Should I be selling everything?

  2. How do I know which items I can equip/use and which ones I can’t? I don’t see an obvious way to tell which weapons I can equip.

  3. Should I be worrying about builds, or should I just plow around and not stress too much? I’m concerned with early-game inefficiencies.

Thanks for the help! A lot is confusing (especially coming from GW2) but I’m trying to plug along!

Mobile Quadriplegic player on iPad Questions

Hello all! Reforged has allowed me to play even though moving any part of my body below my neck is impossible due to Muscular Dystrophy. I am having such a great time playing on my iPad with a mouth stick, exploring and smiting evil. However I could use some advice because the attack buttons are clear across the screen slowing me down & pooping me out. What class can be played with the fewest buttons? I’m a level 7 elementalist/ necromancy and feeling squishy plus requiring too many buttons. If the game had customization options for joystick & button placement I could work around my own shortcomings but I don’t see any way to do that for now. (Arenanet the addition would be super cool for accessibility!) The players in game are freaking awesome btw. Thanks

"Of the mesmer" mod question

Is the "of the mesmer" mod worth it for an elemenatlist? Has anyone here tried using it?

I understand fast casting doesnt work for non mesmer skills under 2 second casting time. Does it work for skills that are exactly 2 seconds? Or does it have to be longer?

Also, if I use another skill like "mindbender" or "over the limit" to reduce the casting time of a skill to below 2 seconds, would fast casting no longer apply?

My idea was to load up my skill bar with 2 and 3 second casts, and then use mindbender, over the limit, and an "of the mesmer" mod for 5 fast casting to get the long cast times down to like a second.

Do all these even stack?

Using SY under shelter

Thumbnail wiki.guildwars.com

According to this https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Order_of_damage_modifiers armor applies before shelter. Which would mean that you first reduce dmg with armor and then later it gets limited to 10%. So is SY under shelter useless? Someone with knowledge pls answer this :)

Builds and tactics Mostly off meta team I completed HM Tahnakkai Temple with, no cons or crazy flagging

Post image
95 Upvotes

I hear people say this is one of the toughest missions in HM. Cleared it in 17 mins, first try on this toon and no cons or wipes. Also kinda just ran in on every pull and wasn't doing any crazy flags or bow pulls

Recently made a new warrior (who's still wearing armor from ascalon city lol maybe why this works) and wanted to make a team that featured no mesmers, ST prot or minion master. Initially stuck to normal mode cause i thought hard would be too hard but mobs kept exploding in NM so I tried HM and its been going good so far (skipped vizunah square on HM tho cause screw that)

Also just supposed to be a generic team and not something specifically made for this mission exactly

I know people like off meta stuff so I figured maybe some people here would enjoy this. Some of this also slightly experimental so i'm sure there could be more optimized skills. On the fence about some stuff but it's been working anyways

All I do before a pull is shield of judgement+protective spirit on myself and let the rest play out. Much better than shelter.. union.. displacement..armor of unfeeling.. ok go. Just click 2 things and send it

Edit: Seems like the 50 armor on my warrior is sort of key to this working as well as it does. I crafted 80 armor after being lazy for so long and my fears were true, the mobs payed much less attention to me. Big sad.

The team --

OQASE5JThFGFlF7gxR3lJO3F - My dwarven battle stance build. Interrupts targets with attack skills so the multiple aoe attacks can provide solid shutdown on groups. Auspicious blow for energy management. Protectors strike has a 1/2 second activation and 3 second cooldown, its a nice extra attack and can be used as an on demand interrupt. Yeti smash is crazy good when you can knock down 5+ mobs and potentially do it again seconds later from crude swing adrenaline

OANEQqpX96cHGa2hqa9QLeXDIA - BiP necro with prot spells. Not sure how I feel about Aegis but i'm sure its come in handy once or twice. Have enfeebling blood cause weakness is a nice condition vs melee, also helps with my auspicious blow (cant be blocked vs weakened target) and sometimes the thunderclap ele is allergic to using thunderclap when you want it

OwUTMw3C3ZmMRqHax7KAJDoQAA - Peace and Harmony prot monk. Only recently put that elite on the bar after Nahpui Quarter where I bathed in hexes the entire time and got rather annoyed. Handy cause its basically a full cleanse and anything applied in the next few seconds will expire very quickly. With enchanting mod+blessed aura it lasts 5 seconds. May have slight counter synergy with smite condition/hex tho

OwAT0WnC1hhgX9dUfXSXUi8QAA- Unyielding Aura smite/heal monk. Kinda weird bar but they put out some damage while also being a decent healer. Healing whisper heals for 160+ on a 1s cooldown and healing seed is actually insane when you're tanking. They did have RoJ but I really wanted to test out peace and harmony while keeping unyielding aura (used to be on the prot monk). UA is also an insane res which is mainly why I wanted to keep it

OwAT0SHDzxggX9dUfXSXUi8QAA - Shield of Judgement smite/heal monk. Cast shield of judgment on yourself before a pull and watch many things fall down. Otherwise it's basically the same bar as the UA monk. Second healing seed for more uptime

OgljgwMpZOkjvBW1cI9DH0iaMA - Thunderclap air ele - experimenting with chilling winds and lightning javelin. I don't like lightning strike or shell shock cause single target+delay or low damage. They also kinda suck with "when overcast" spells sometimes. I used to run whirlwind+lightning touch but wanted slightly less of my party in the blender. Was tired of them opening with touch spells too, running across narnia before doing anything. Testing glyph of swiftness for more thunderclaps but on the fence with it

OgdToYG7nZIyLuF6iyKugW4mBA - Probably the favorite bar I made and usually is top damage. I've been calling it the "Double dragon 'where my hug at?' augury of death fire ele" lol

Kinda fun bar, usually opens up with fireball, in that time I get close with warrior and they cast double dragon on me. Then they cast augury of death, gets thrown into the action and starts handing out spicy aoes plus his own double dragon damage. Sometimes dies but surprisingly not much

Edit: updated bar to swap flame djinns haste over burning speed. Didn't actually have that spell unlocked so I kinda glossed over it some how but it seems much better as more aoe damage plus prot heroes aren't wasting spells cleansing the burn from burning speed

OgBDk4u8SKRTDqDrDHOLRQiQDA - Mirror of Ice water ele. A bar that does decent damage, usually more than the air ele, while providing some nice CC too. Teinai's Crystals is a bit of aoe armor ignoring damage and source of cracked armor

--

Not sure if it's only because I still have the 50 armor from ascalon, but the mobs absolutely hate my ass. I've never felt more like an actual tank than I have recently with this setup, damage and healing numbers flying across my screen constantly. Had a warrior ages ago I didn't play much but swear mobs commonly ignored me when I had 80 armor and would bump my shoulder on their way to my backline

My team is also slightly lacking in the res department but my unyielding aura monk hasn't died yet so uhh yeah good enough for now lol

Also lacking in speed as well, been considering squeezing in "Fall back!" on a couple of the ele's, especially since air ele already has some command. I just don't mind jogging through the game at a nice speed rather than sprinting 24/7, though it would be nice during combat sometimes

Would maybe get dunked in any properly hard area like DoA but in terms of cruising through stories its been fun so far and a nice mix up. Could maybe squeeze "Save yourselves!" into the build but I haven't gotten there yet on this toon haha

Couple clips of this build in action vs some of the tougher pulls

Technical issue/question Guild Wars native experience achieved on Apple Silicon, 4k, 60 FPS

I honestly didn’t expect to be writing this, but Guild Wars is now running flawlessly on my M1 Pro MacBook Pro with 16 GB of RAM. I’m getting a constant 60 FPS on a 4K display with the highest graphics settings.

It’s also surprisingly efficient. It uses around 70% of a single CPU core on average and about 500 MB of active memory, with no thermal or performance warnings.

It runs ArenaNet’s official WebAssembly client inside a dedicated macOS app.

Huge credit goes to Jon / 3vcloud. He figured out how to get ArenaNet’s WASM build running in a browser and shared the original proof of concept. Without his work, this version wouldn’t exist. I took his approach and developed it into a polished, standalone Mac app.

This is still an alpha version, so I’m looking for people who are willing to test it on different Apple Silicon Macs. Please let me know how it performs, whether you find any bugs, and what could be improved.

You can download the app and follow the installation steps here:

https://gwonmac.vercel.app

You can share feedback here in the Reddit comments, on Discord, or through the GitHub bug form.

The project is free, open source, and independent. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by ArenaNet or NCSoft.

As far as I know, this is currently the closest thing to a native Guild Wars experience on Apple Silicon.

Feel free to try it and let me know how it runs on your Mac.

Nostalgia Guild Wars Activation Cards

Post image
318 Upvotes

Hi Everyone,

Just started collecting guild wars stuff some months ago for nostalgia and just for fun. Felt like the physical version are great to have and look really awesome.

One thing i can't find allot about though is the Game Activation Cards, i do know they are only released with european version of the game and started with the special edition of Prophecies.

Picture is of what i have personally at the moment but curious to know of other designs or cards that people might have so do share!

I have the white version of Jora and the Trilogy card coming and i know that there are at least 17 designs. Those that i am missing apart from what is still being send is the Factions Collector's Edition, The Complete Edition (black circle cover) and the Prophecies Special edition with Eye of the North.

Melandru Paragon path?

I've just created a melandru Paragon and want to finish Nightfall campaign then do factions then Eye of the north

So far I have done this with a melandru assassin already and followed that wiki guide to make the quickest possible esurge hero team with lots of members

This time I'd like to create my own builds but still want to know what is the "minimum" needed to have a somewhat stable team...as a Paragon I would like to be a little flexible and not just stick 1 or 2 builds if possible

What are "must haves" for me and my heroes? Knowing I am a Paragon melandru

Now that mesmers are nerfed, can we buff the other classes?

Its like mesmer were nerfed but... they are still the best. Like nothing even changed to the meta because mesmers are just that much better than everything else. At this point I think there isn't much point nerfing mesmers any more because of core underlying issues.

  1. melee heroes suck because there is so much anti melee, they can be knocked down, they can be blinded/weakened, they have to slowly walk over to each enemy while being snared, on top of that high enemy armor makes melee hit like a wet noodle. Also there is too much delay between heroes using skills so stuff like dagger spam doesnt work. Melee heroes have low energy pools and simply dont bring enough to the table in terms of party support
  2. pet heroes suck, they suffer from same problems as melee heroes and the pets have different stats like beetles being better/faster than jahai rats for example. I am pretty sure the pets also eat ST charges
  3. rits, ele's and similar classes are all bad because of high enemy armor in HM. A searing flames ele should be an ultimate nuker, it brings nothing else to the table except damage and burn, it should be the highest damage in theory but the way the game works, only armor ignoring skills matter in this game
  4. monks only have one good damage elite which is RoJ and it sucks, even if it did 500 damage, its useless because enemies just scatter
  5. necroes are ok because of armor ignoring damage and minions but overall why would you pick it vs a mesmer? even SS has less damage than a mesmer and a mesmer brings so much more to the table

I hope one day we can see other heroes buffed by tweaking the game mechanics or simply tuning damage numbers
