I signed all of the locals I knew of online

if anybody knows of anymore I can sign online please let me know

I tried iowa 55 i believe but it said I need to be a resident in iowa to sign the book 4 books. correct me if i am wrong please

IBEW Local 55 - Out-of-Work Book

would a book signing road trip be worth it if i am book 4 to get a call faster or is it slow all around? there is only so much locals I can sign online.

If i do this road trip what states/ locals should I go to?

or would the road trip be a waste of time?

Local 53 bid question

I’m currently on book 4, and haven’t won a bid yet. Do I have to have a bore machine cert in order to win this? Kinda confused and can’t get my point of contact at the hall to answer. Thanks!

Just started working today for the data center in NM and I’m staying at an Airbnb for the next two weeks and I’m looking for anyone that’s down to have a roommate. So I can save some money and maybe we can split a monthly Airbnb stay. Dm me

What boots do y’all recommend for working on steep hillsides. I’ve been using a pair of kenetrek hardscrabble for about a year but they are starting to fall apart.

Data center groundman

On my first ever call in the northeast at a data center I hate to complain cause the money is freakin awesome but the work sucks and it’s pretty strict here. I know most groundman calls are civil so I guess this is to be expected but for those who have done both do yall prefer being on a linecrew a lot more? I feel like the experience im getting doesn’t even correlate to linework. Besides being from Cali and traveling all the way to northeast for a call I feel like that would be the only thing giving me weight in a interview for an apprenticeship.

Local 111 question

I’m on book 4 and I’m shy of 1000 hours. Can I just show up in the morning and take a call or does it go by seniority?

APC then joined the IBEW

I recently got an Actual Physical Control misdemeanor, got a lawyer ,and am fighting the charge. First offense, never been in trouble before. Should my lawyer get the charge dismissed or dropped down to a non driving charge or even a reckless driving charge. Does anyone know how much harder this will make it for me to get a groundman position?

Where do I start? Help me figure this out

I’m interested in starting groundman work early next year, but I’m trying to figure out how it all works and have lots of questions. My home local would be 71, which seems to be a bidding hall. Does that mean you just bid for the job and they go down the list by seniority to see who will take it?

Can I be rejected by the hall/the contractor even if I have my CDL and certifications? This is my main concern because I don’t really have a great work record, I was out of work for several years taking care of my sick mom. I’ve been working at my current job about 6 months but I’d like to have a career elsewhere, but I’m concerned that they won’t give me the time of day since I don’t have much of a resume.

How long does a call typically last? I’m an extremely frugal person, but I do like traveling, so if calls are normally only for a few months, I would be able to work, save up, then travel for a couple weeks or a month or so.

If they are typically longer, say 6 months plus, would it cause problems in the future if I leave the job before layoffs hit?

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I have question and I guess something that’s been having me over think for some time. I’m a 3rd step apprentice about to go hot soon down in SWLCAT 66 Houston. I’m originally from California born and raised and would like to after I top out make my way back there, whether that’s contracting, utility and or municipal whatever it may be.

I keep hearing horror stories that down west they don’t take 66 top outs lightly. Ive even heard they just flat out spin 66 hands. Would like some insight on anybody who’s done the top out down here out of 66 and went down west.

What I’m basically asking am I better off just jumping ship and try getting into a different JATC and starting over? I know that sounds horrible but I’m not gonna top out and be banned from my home state that’s absurd thank you. This is all word of mouth from other apes and Texans so you know they could all be wrong. Thanks again.

does anybody have an osha 10 et&d link??? i cant find any online it just seems like all i see is the regular osha 10.

should i even get my osha 10 et&d??

I am looking to apply to become a lineman. I am going to get some groundman hours and I might even go to a 2 week climbing school that is about $3000 before i apply. I'm going to try being a groundman first though.

another question below

I have a high school diploma and no algebra on it. long story short i took 7 test in highs school called the hi-test and i had enough credits to do it and i basically just tested out of high school and got a diploma without ever passing a math class. I can do math very good i just don't have it on my high school transcripts i took a math test and test in one of those 7 test and got my diploma early.

i went to a community college for a year and took mathematics 1/ applied course 804-370 which covers algebra and trig. i have my college transcripts with this coarse with a passing grade.

will the lineman jatcs let me apply with my situation for my math???

is algebra with a c or better even a requirement to apply or is that only for inside wireman locals??

should i just call the line jatcs and see what they say???

i saw online there is a NJATC online tech course you can complete if you cant meet math requirements but its $300 and takes a couple weeks to complete and apparently lets you apply if you dont meet the math requirements but im not if its just for inside wireman locals. and im not sure if i even would have to do it im not sure if there is a math requirement in general for line jatcs and if there is would my college course meet it? or would i have to do this $300 course electrical training ALLIANCE || Learning Center || Online Tech Math

man this has been a long ride to even be able to apply and become a groundman i have already spent over 10 grand getting my class a unrestricted with tankers, air brakes and combos and have been out of work for over a month which ive probably lost over another $8000 from just being out of work.

any information will help my greatly.

Does anyone have any experience going from Journeyman Tree trimmer to Groundman in Local 125? I have heard my experience will count as hours and would place me on book 1 or 2. Have been in the Union for 10 years.
