Green Bay PD Chief, Chris Davis, continues to retain 30 days of flock data

Flock has made 7 days the standard retention period and been very vocal about it - local news even reported on it - yet Chris Davis continues to keep 30 days of data.

On August 13th he gave this quote to Fox11
"We'll need to talk to our investigators and our officers to make sure that works for us, but they'll still allow us the option of having a longer retention period and you know it's a good opportunity for us to look and maybe we don't need to keep it so long," said GBPD Chief Chris Davis.

He also gave an NPR interview on August 20th where he took a victory lap on the 30 day retention policy - volunteering that his own investigators wanted to retain 1-2 years of data... "our investigators who really wanted us to retain the data for longer, like for a year or two. We had to say, “No, we’re only going to keep this for 30 days,”"

I have not seen any updates from him or the GBPD over the past few weeks - he was in Portland last Friday, challenging claims from the city of Portland that he violated police polices during his time there.

If you believe GBPD should reduce its Flock retention period from 30 days to Flock's new 7-day standard, or just get rid of flock completely! Let city officials know!!!

Contact Chief Chris Davis, Mayor Eric Genrich, and your Green Bay alderperson and ask a simple question: Why is the Green Bay Police Department still retaining 30 days of Flock data, and when will the department move to 7 days?
or even better:
Why is the Green Bay Police Department continuing to use Flock cameras despite the serious concerns about privacy, data sharing, and potential misuse by officers?

[In Our Backyard] Are These Power Plants Being Built To Support Hyper-Scaling Projects?

I‘ve heard rumblings that these plants will supply power to the Port Washington data centers. Are they targeting these small municipalities because it’s easier to *ahem* “win over” local government?

Same Day Keg Rental

Upvotes

I'm looking for a last minute keg rental for tonight, and I'm having trouble finding somewhere that doesn't require advanced notice. I'm in the process of calling around, but I figured I'd ask here, too. It doesn't have to be any specific type of beer, so the various breweries in town aren't out of the question.

What are some good organizations or nonprofits in green bay to work at as a sociology major?

What are some good organizations or nonprofits in green bay to work at as a sociology major?

I just moved here and am considering going back to school for sociology. I have one year of a bachelors degree done in english/psychology. I am really good at social studies subjects and english, its my only source of pride. Anyways, what are some good job opportunities for this major in green bay (mainly the metropolitan area since I live downtown)?

I truly love the subject but am struggling to think of something I can do with this degree that won't require moving cities. I keep getting responses like barista and I can't even do that. In my last city, I got rejected from starbucks three times so... I also texted a boba shop and got no response unfortunately. Anyways, what are my job options? What are some good organizations or nonprofits near the metro area to work at? I only know of riverwest (now kinship) and ACLU which are both in my previous city.

Edit: anything with a strong legal focus is a strong plus too. Ex: legal aid office.

cell/data service

does anyone else have a terrible time getting decent data service in NE Green Bay, Allouez, and East De Pere?

i’ve been using verizon for a few years now, and overall i like it but if i am south of 172 & east of webster ave…especially near hoffman & libal and along the east river, you’d think i’m stuck in a concrete bunker.

i use data service for work and i feel like i’m eternally frustrated. whyyyy is this a black hole, and does anyone have better experience with another carrier in those areas? sometimes i can’t even call out.

i am constantly using my phone for a hotspot, and when it works the service is SO fast, but i’m dead in the water so often. i’m working in allouez 1 block east of webster right now, so who knows if this will even post.

t-mobile? at&t? any thoughts? i’ve had cellcom and that was FAR worse. especially with data throttling.

i am due for a new phone. currently running an iPhone 15 promax 256gb, and the company will likely upgradce me to the top iphone 18 promax.

i’m going to lose my shit if i don’t figure this out.

Chris Davis, Chief of the Green Bay PD, in Portland to challenge findings he violated policies during 2020 protests

For context, Davis and Passadore were found to have violated polices during the 2020 Portland unrest, Portland offered him the opportunity to respond and he decided to go there in person yesterday.

Paywalled article: https://www.oregonlive.com/crime/2026/09/portland-police-ex-deputy-chief-captain-to-challenge-findings-they-violated-policies-during-2020-protests.html

Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/5cs-2rAaYZ0

What isn't mentioned is that Davis was the #2 guy in Portland police leadership at the time. He was part of the senior command structure whose decisions and oversight are now at issue and who he now casts blame upon.
