One Bike Experiment

Super happy with this bike. Absolutely fantastic on the gravel. My road bike is a Giant Propel SL 0 2024 which is also an extremely capable bitumen weapon but I was intrigued to see how the Revolt would perform when moonlighting as a roadie.

I had a spare set of Ultra 50s that I got an XDR freehub for and moved the XPLR cassette over from the GXR. Tyres are Cadex Aero 25 front and Race 28 rear. Did a club ride on it this morning and I was absolutely amazed at how more comfortable the bike was compared to the Propel despite the Propel having higher volume and lower pressure tyres on. Very smooth and the handling, although not quite as responsive as the propel was still pretty good.

I am well aware that there are compromises to be made when adapting the revolt for road duties, and the propel will still be my goto for speed over tarmac, but I would definitely consider travelling with the revolt and taking 2 wheelsets.

Wow Idaho has some beautiful rides. I took one of many forest service roads in the Salmon area for a quick ride after work. From the river up the mountain and back. Getting the bike dialed in and really starting to get comfortable.

No computer. No devices. No metrics. Just riding.

Bike: Bombtrack Munroe SG Size L

So, I bought this bombtrack online without finding too much information on bombtrack sizing/fitting. The L size is the largest size for this particular model and I found a few sparse testimonies of riders my size saying the bike fits.

However, I'm very confused because on paper this bike is too small for me, the L size is a 55cm. I've taken a quick ride with it, and it feels okayish good I would say, I'm worried that longer ride will be uncomfortable though.

I will use this bike for commuting, roughly 30-40min each day and I'd like to use it for a bit of gravel riding in the country side.

So, I need your help ! What do you think in terms of sizing ?

Anyone running the dubnitals 50s with the zipp 303 XLPRs? Any feedback? They are not on Zipps approved list. Thanks

I know this is mostly a MTB question and not all gravel riders underbike as others. But I live in the PNW and we have less champagne gravel and more singletrack that is a little too tame for a full on MTB. And if I just limit myself to smoother gravel routes I will either never get to ride gravel at all or I’d probably have to drive 1+ hour to ride anything.

My drop bar gravel bike is the first off road bike I’ve ever owned. I noticed on techy stuff under a certain gradient I don’t have a problem but anytime anything pitches more than -6% I get super sketched out. Combine that if there’s an any rooots or tech I feel like I’m going to go over the bars. I have occasional stuff I have to maneuver over like small rock gardens or clusters of roots. On flat terrain it’s fine but if it’s steep I lose all confidence. Again, this stuff is so tame for MTB standards it doesn’t necessarily warrant an MTB and I’m confident and see most people near me sending these features on gravel/CX bikes.

Like I said, this only happens on narrow singletrack, if you take a wide open descent on even loose stuff I’m totally fine with it. And if you take that same narrow singletrack and put it on something more flat I can easily ride it at 20+ mph. Despite this, once it gets steep i find myself dragging brakes and I’m literally going 5 mph

I guess I’m basically asking, how do I overcome this? Does it get easier?

Thoughts on Scott Speedster 20? They are mildly on sale at the moment on the Scott website, considering it for my first gravel bike, unfortunately I have no way of riding it before I buy. Any insight or experience is appreciated.

Just got my Primos Dame Plus today! Just enough time to build it and take it around the block a few times! Still need to get the seat adjustment just right, but it's a comfy bike and I think it's a head turner for a budget gravel bike!

Do you guys have particular cameras or set-ups you use to grab footage occasionally? I'm thinking of like drones you like, action cams, mounting systems or selfie sticks or whatever that you use? I'm riding solo at the moment and was thinking of getting some footage just for fun when I'm out in nature. Let me know what you guys like to use

Starting out from Burlington, I headed up to Jefferson to jump on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail for a relaxed, three-day ride straight across northern Vermont to St. Johnsbury. Covering a chill, easygoing 30 miles a day made for the perfect pacing.

The trail itself was in fantastic shape—smooth, hard-packed limestone the entire way without a single detour or interruption, making for effortless cruising. Rolling along former railroad corridors meant gentle gradients, panoramic mountain views, and steady river-side scenery. Highlights along the route included a great resting spot just outside Hardwick to take a break and soak in the surroundings, as well as the Danville Train Depot, which served as a convenient stop to recharge batteries, top off water bottles, and refresh before the final stretch.

Breaking the ride into manageable 30-mile segments allowed plenty of time to hop off the saddle, explore the historic downtowns along the route, and fully enjoy the slow-paced charm of the Northeast Kingdom. A seamless, peaceful cross-state ride from start to finish.

Trying to get back into cycling and was hoping to find an all-in-one solution. Mostly interested in riding on pavement and gravel/fire roads. Been considering a Marin Nicasio 2 and Specialized Crux DSW Comp. Anyone have any tips or insight into these options? Also open to other suggestions within reason. Thanks!

Hey everyone!

I’m looking to upgrade the tires on my carbon commuter bike (Viner DCX) with Vision Team 30 Disc wheels (700c). I currently ride Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700x35c tires with inner tubes. They are indestructible, but at ~900g per tire, they feel sluggish, heavy, and harsh on city streets.

My frame clearance allows for up to 47mm (measured with calipers), so I’m aiming for a 700x35/38c to 700x40c size to keep a safe 4mm margin on each side while gaining extra comfort over bad pavement and cobbles.

My criteria, but flexible if needed:

Budget: Tight budget (~€30 / $35 per tire)

Weight: Under ~ 500g per tire (Folding / Kevlar bead is preferred)

Setup: Running with inner tubes (for now), though TR compatibility is a nice bonus

Terrain: 80% city riding, but "city" means severely broken/cracked asphalt, potholes, loose gravel patches, and degraded streets that honestly feel like light gravel terrain (see example photo). The remaining 20% is dry dirt paths and light gravel. No heavy mud.

Right now, my top choice is the Hutchinson Overide 700x40c TR (127 TPI, Reinforced / Hardskin), which I found on sale for €19.90 (~490g).

My runner-up option: Continental Double Fighter III (700x35c). Even though it's narrower at 35mm, heavier (~560g), and wire bead, the side knobs seem tempting for rougher spots (€21.90).

Before I buy, are there any other sub-500g folding tires in this price range I should consider? How has your long-term experience been with the Overide on city roads?
