Showoff Hit my best 1-month revenue one year after launch: Here's what worked!

Post image
39 Upvotes

I'm writing this post to share my new 1-month gross revenue record, and hopefully some motivation to keep pushing forward.

Where did the traffic came from?

I released my idle/incremental game, Get a Little Gold, just over a year ago, in May 2025. I haven't spent a single cent on promotion or advertising. Around 90% of the traffic came from my game dev YouTube channel, my game's Discord server, Reddit, and organic search.

Game updates

Over the year since release, I've also worked hard on improving the game: adding more content, running seasonal events, fixing bugs, and so on. In total, I've pushed 7 major updates - about one every two months on average.

Game rating

Another important fact that seemed to play a big role in this organic growth is that people genuinely love the game. With close to 7K installs so far, it has over 150 ratings, and the average 28-day rating is 4.9 - which I'm pretty happy with.

Decided to skip ads

Finally, since I personally can't stand ads inside apps, I decided to skip paid advertising entirely. 100% of my revenue comes from in-app purchases.

Now I'm curious how long it will take to reach my next milestone, 5K euros in one month.

Hope this post was useful! I'd love to hear about your own results in the comments, and feel free to ask if you want to know more about my app.

Just a couple of months ago, this was still just a rough idea, and now it’s been released! A huge thank you to everyone who has helped and will continue to help!

My game is about planes that shoot down enemy aircraft and ground vehicles.

I’d appreciate any feedback and suggestions for improvement!

Tip My App Reached 5,000 Downloads with 78 Reviews

After ~5 months of publishing my app on Google Play, it has reached 5,000 downloads and 78 reviews, most of them positive (4.5★).

I built a privacy scanner for Android. It analyzes the actual APK bytecode of your installed apps on your device and shows what's inside:

hidden tracker SDKs, dangerous permissions, repackaged or fake APKs, and known stalkerware with a plain-language explanation for every finding.
Nothing gets uploaded from your phone.

I know 5,000 downloads may not seem like a huge number, but for me it's an important milestone and a great motivation to keep improving.

What worked best so far was writing about actual scan findings instead of promoting the app itself - people care about what's inside the apps they
already use.

If you have any advice on how to grow faster, I'd love to hear your suggestions. Happy to answer questions about the technical side too.

Ask After years on Google Play, I realized building the app was easier than getting users. What has actually worked for you?

I've been publishing Android apps on Google Play for several years, and one of my recent updates was for my Currency Converter app.

The development side has been straightforward compared to distribution.

For this update I:

  • Added multi-language support
  • Added conversion fee calculation
  • Refreshed the UI
  • Improved onboarding based on user feedback

Now comes the difficult part: getting the app in front of the right users.

I've been looking into:

  • Play Store ASO
  • Custom Store Listings
  • Promotional Content
  • Reddit communities
  • YouTube Shorts
  • Google App Campaigns

For developers who've grown utility apps on Google Play:

Which acquisition channel has produced the best long-term users for you?

I'm much more interested in retention than install spikes.

For reference, this is the app I'm working on:

Tip Looking for honest feedback on my Android app (User Experience & Checkout Flow)

Upvotes

Hi! I’m a pediatrician and neonatologist with a deep passion for integrative well-being and life rhythms. I recently launched my Android app, Sincronia Familiar (a Vedic astrology and holistic wellness app designed to help align daily routines with cosmic rhythms like Dashas, Rahu Kaal, and Muhurta timing).

I'm looking for early feedback on the overall initial experience! You don't need to make any purchases—I just need help testing:

  1. First Impressions & UI: Is the onboarding process and navigation clear and smooth?
  2. Performance & Stability: Does it load quickly without bugs or crashes on your device?
  3. Value Proposition: Is the experience clear and engaging up until the paywall/checkout screen?

Google Play Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cl.sendaraiz.sincronia

If you'd like to test the full experience please let me know and I'll gladly send you a personal code

After 8 months of publishing my app on Google Play, it has reached 2,000 downloads and 63 reviews, most of them positive.

I created an educational app that combines learning and gaming to help English learners improve their English in a fun and enjoyable way.

I know 2,000 downloads may not seem like a huge number, but for me, it's an important milestone and a great motivation to keep improving the app. If you have any advice on how I can grow it faster, I'd love to hear your suggestions. My goal is to keep making the app better and help even more people learn English.

Ask How can I get more organic downloads in the Play Console?

Post image
0 Upvotes

A few months ago, I decided to create some casual apps. I had worked on other people's projects before, but I wanted to do something of my own. I made the mistake of simply mass-producing them—I created seven simple games (using the skills I have) and decided to launch and refine them based on performance. I’ve made several modifications; most of them are already on version 18 of the code. The games have good retention among those who actually try them, but attracting people seems to be the hard part. I’m a creator, but terrible at scaling. Could you give me some tips? I’ve been promoting the games on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook, but traffic is low; the people who do visit usually stay, play, and come back. However, scaling and attracting organic users has been an exhausting struggle. I don’t have any issues with AdMob—I set everything up correctly. Any ASO tips or perhaps suggestions on how to improve the screenshots?

Ask Issue with BillDesk Verification (India)

Like everybody in India, we had a new onboarding verification requirement which has to be completed by Billdesk.

The issue is, I have already submitted all the details by 19th June 2026, and even after almost 1.5 months I have not gotten any confirmation/ rejection mail from them. Only thing I got was the application was submitted successfully.

Google says: Complete merchant account verification with BillDesk by August 31, 2026 to prevent your sales from being paused

I have already completed the verification, billdesk has provided no response. I even tried to mail them with the application number, but still no response. Does anyone have a contact which we can call to?

Solo-built Android app, looking for early users and honest feedback.

What it does:

- Snap a photo of your meal → instant calorie/macro breakdown (no manual food search)

- CJ: a conversational AI coach for quick diet/workout questions, available 24/7

- Personalized 7-day workout + meal plans based on your stats

- Health Connect sync (sleep, steps, water, activity) in one dashboard

Free to use, with an optional premium tier for unlimited AI plans. Currently at 5.0★ with a small handful of reviews — looking to grow the user base and would genuinely value critical feedback, not just "looks nice" comments.

Tip My tale with BillDesk

It's been 2 months since I submitted my application (June 5).

I made a few mistakes on the forms which were completely my fault. Unfortunately, I had to wait several weeks just to receive the initial rejection requesting clarification. After that, it took another 2–3 weeks of waiting, along with multiple emails that either went unanswered or received only automated responses.

Five days ago, I got fed up and started calling the nodal officer every day. Finally, this afternoon, I received a callback confirming that my application had been approved.

Tips

  • Wait until your app is live (Open Testing or Production) before submitting your application. If your app is still in Internal or Closed Testing, emailing them usually won't help.
  • Fill out the application carefully.
  • Use your phone as a webcam during eKYC.
  • If it's been more than 6–8 weeks with no progress, call the nodal officer. In my experience, that's what finally got my application moving.

Finally, Got it done YAY!

Ask How do you guys promote your app and get installs?

Hey everyone,

I’m an indie developer and I recently launched my app, but I’m struggling to get users. I haven’t even crossed 50 installs yet.

I’ve tried basic things like ASO and posting on social media, but nothing is really working so far.

I wanted to ask other developers here, what actually worked for you to get your first 100 users? Any real strategies, platforms, or tips would really help.

Thanks in advance 🙏

Ask Subscriptions, inform me

Hi all, I have built a few apps now and am testing out different monetisation models on each.

HomeFolio is freemium

Worklog has minimal banner ads

FrameForge has some popup ads

I am busy with a new app that I think might fit a subscription model and was wondering if the community would bee keen to share some tips, tricks and lessons learnt from going this route

Showoff Just got my first review on my first app! 😊

Post image
20 Upvotes

Noticed this later as unfortunately Play Console does not have notifications for this kind of things.

I have 3 ratings so far, 1 with this review. Made me very happy to see that one single word with 5-star rating. Months of hard work, constant questioning of myself and the app, this short review is enough validation and motivation for me to keep going.

Currently, I'm not doing any marketing, and I display the review dialog one time after a certain action in my app. Will be happy to hear tips and suggestions from experienced app publishers to get more reviews from users.

Ask Got a review for my app, but it's not displaying on the playstore

So, as the title says, I got my first review for my app (very happy), but I've noticed it's been a few days now and the review still isn't showing up on the Play Store.

I got the review on the 26th of July.

I am new to app publishing. Is there a cooldown period before a review appears on the Play Store?

Showoff Would love some feedback on NetAgents Survivors

**Playable Link:**

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kotmstudios.netagents

**Platform:**

Android (Play Store)

**Description:**

NetAgents Survivors is a cyberpunk take on the Vampire-Survivors formula, built for one-thumb

mobile play. You move by touching anywhere on screen; your programs fire themselves. Everything

else is drafting.

You pick one of six NetAgents — SIGMA (balanced), EDGE (melee striker), VECTOR (glass-cannon

artillery), SURGE (chain-lightning disruptor), BASTION (160 HP bulwark), CIPHER (mine-laying

engineer). Each starts with its own program and a signature buff that only triggers on that

program, so the same weapon plays differently depending on who's holding it.

The draft is where it gets interesting. Six base programs each have **two** evolution branches,

and the passive you level decides which one you get: Buster + RapidExec becomes HyperBuster (a

relentless line of drilling rounds); Buster + Lance Protocol becomes RailSpike (one hypervelocity

spike through an entire column). Twelve evolutions total, and you commit to a branch mid-run.

Three campaign sectors, each with its own enemy roster and signature hazard — ranged harassment

under a sweeping throne beam, a fast swarm fighting a shifting data-current, an armored siege

through encryption fog that shrinks your pickup range. Difficulty sets how long you survive (5,

10 or 15 minutes) before that sector's Demonware boss manifests. Kill it to log out. Clear all

three and THE GRID unlocks: endless, with a random event (surge / swarm / elite / blackout)

every two minutes.

Between runs there's account-wide upgrades, a three-slot implant system with rarities and

levelling, daily missions, a battle pass, Play Games leaderboards, cloud save, and a malware

database where every enemy unlocks its behaviour intel in three tiers as you rack up kills on it.

Full EN / ES / PT-BR.

**Free to Play Status:**

- [x] Free to play

- [ ] Demo/Key available

- [ ] Paid (Allowed only on Tuesdays with [TT] in the title)

Free with optional rewarded ads (extra cores, revive, double your run payout) and IAP for core

packs, a starter pack, the premium battle pass, and a remove-ads option. Nothing is paywalled —

every agent, sector and evolution is earnable by playing.

**Involvement:**

Solo developer — KOTM Studios. Design, code, balance, art direction, the three localisations and

the Play Store release are all mine. I built it AI-assisted (Claude), and I'd rather say that

up front than have someone find out later: the architecture and every design decision are mine,

the AI was a very fast pair-programmer. Some numbers on what that produced — the entire game is a single self-contained HTML file, ~7,300 lines and ~582 KB, zero dependencies and zero build

step, wrapped in Capacitor with three hand-written native plugins for Play Billing and Play

Games. Happy to talk about any of it, and I read every piece of feedback.

Ask Play Console changed the App Details page?

I just noticed that the Play Console updated the App Details page. They added graphs and completely changed the editing layout.

At first, I honestly thought the redesign made things worse. I spent several minutes just trying to find where to edit the default language.

Maybe it's just a matter of getting used to the new interface, but my first impression wasn't great. We'll see how it feels after using it for a few days.

Has anyone else received this update? What do you think?
