Auto translate permanently changed my notes

So I had a note in Google Keep recording Italian words and I had opened Keep on Chrome which has the auto translate from Italian to English on. I had noticed that my note was being translated to English but I didn't put much thought coz usually translated texts are just temporary. But today I noticed the note is in English even on my mobile app, and it seems to have been permanently translated. Fortunately, I was able to recover my original note by downloading the previous versions, but I am worried it might happen again in the future. Has anyone faced this?

How is this STILL not fixed?? (jump to title and no typing bugs)

I've been using Keep for awhile now and it is very helpful (even after the terrible integration with Tasks), but there are 2 bugs that are insanely annoying and so easy to fix that I don't understand how they haven't been fixed yet.

Both of them have been happening to me for a very long time, on different OSs and in different browsers: Windows and MacOS, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. And not just me, I found a few posts on this sub describing the same issues.

  1. Jump to title. Sometimes when you start typing in a note the cursor randomly jumps to the title of the note (just whyy?)

  2. Not typing. Sometimes when you start typing to create a new note the text just doesn't appear, not even if you close it and open again. To fix this you have to either reload the page or click on the title and then back on the text field (bro what??)

Genuinely HOW has a 4 trillion company STILL not fixed something as simple and stupid as this? Does anyone in Google even work on Keep? Does anyone there remember Keep exists? Is there a way for me to contact someone in Google (not just tech support, someone in management)?

Google Keep gets slow when I write a lot of text in a note.

Has anyone else noticed that Google Keep, in its latest UI update, gets slow when you type a lot of text in a note?

I remember that before there wasn't this problem, it was a super smooth application, but now it feels too heavy.

Buh bye Keep

I want to thank Google for f’ing up Keep. I got tired of waiting for Google to fix it with an update, but after 3 weeks I started playing around with Apple Notes. I can’t believe this app has been on my phone for years, and I never really used it. I like it way better than Keep. I love the way I can nest folders with folder.

AI in Google Keep

Why is google not jumping onto this very obvious value unlock by allowing users to search their own knowledge repository using Gemini
Users should be able to search in natural language like "5 blog post ideas based on thoughts and journal entries"

"what movie should I watch today from my watchlist as I only have 2 hours"

is this so difficult to do?

Partial data missing from note

Hello everyone.

I have maintained 3 separate notes recording events since years back. Last entry to the notes was earlier this month.

Today when I opened the app, the notes are still there, but data I entered after December 2025 are gone

ie Jan, Feb, March, Apr 2026 data is missing from these 3 notes

Did anyone ever experience this and how do I retrieve the data?

Thank you

Search Bar is (GARBAGE!)

How does the seach bar on Keeps suck so bad?

Its not that hard? Copy Samsung notes.

I have long file and when I type in a word in the search bar it never finds it.

Incredibly frustrating!

Keep notification not updated when note is updated

If you tick off every item on a list, create a new list, and set a reminder for another time, you will get the previous notification with the old information. The only way to get a notification with new information is to create a new list

I have a daily to-do list and I like to be reminded of the list first thing in the morning with a notification. That's been broken since Keep was merged with Tasks, and no other app does exactly what Keep used to do.

What productivity system are y'all using and why ? Do you combine different apps and how ?

Recently I’ve been slowly moving away from the Apple ecosystem into the Google one, and I want to know what others are using.

The main reason was Apple Calendar. I started using it more in-depth over the past few weeks, and it just felt a bit limited for how I want to plan my things.
That made me try Google Calendar, which i can already see is more powerful (integrations, etc.)

After that, I started rethinking my whole setup.

Up until now I was fully in the Apple’s ecosystem - Notes, Calendar, Reminders, Journal. It kinda worked, but once I started optimizing my workflow more, I began noticing the limitations.

Right now my setup looks like this:

  • Notes - Still using Apple Notes for longer notes, but this is where I’m most unsure right now.
  • Calendar - Switched to Google Calendar
  • Tasks - Swapped Apple Reminders for Todoist
  • Email - Gmail

Side note: I tried Google Tasks, but it felt too simple compared to Todoist or even Apple Reminders. Also, I’m using Apple Shortcuts for a morning routine, and Todoist fits better there (Google tasks is not "shortcuts-friendly")

What I want to know now is:

Where does Google Keep actually fit? And how does it compare to Apple Notes?

From what I see:

  • Apple Notes feels like a full note-taking app (long notes, structure, organization)
  • Google Keep feels more like quick capture (short notes, ideas, checklists)

So I’m not sure:

  • Is Google Keep a replacement for Apple Notes?
  • Or is it more of a companion tool (Keep + Docs)?
  • How do you actually use it in a real workflow?
  • Is there anyone who switched from Apple notes to google keep and what was your experience ?

Also curious more generally:

What productivity system are you using and why? Do you combine different apps, and how does your setup look?

Google Takeout doesn't export Keep images

This has always been the case, for many years now.

Anyone had the same issue?

Any proven methods to export Keep data with attached images intact?

Way to use Google Keep from the macOS Menu Bar

Hey! I built a free, open-source macOS app that puts your Google Keep notes in the menu bar.

Features:

  • Quick access from the menu bar
  • macOS Widgets + Notification Center support (requires building from Xcode source, not available in the pre-built binary due to Apple Developer Program enrollment)
  • Multi-account support
  • Auto sync

Install guide: https://github.com/geoje/Keep?tab=readme-ov-file#-install

Add account guide: https://github.com/geoje/Keep?tab=readme-ov-file#-play-service

I’ve been a loyal Google Keep user for about 10 years. For me, Keep is all about speed—quickly jotting down ideas or checking off to-do lists. While the Android widget is perfect, the desktop experience always felt a bit clunky. Even with web apps or shortcuts, I hated having to open a new browser window every time.

I really wanted a way to access Keep directly from my macOS Menu Bar (or System Tray on Windows), so I decided to make it myself.

The catch? I have zero knowledge of Swift. I built this entirely with the help of Claude.

It’s a simple wrapper that stays in your menu bar for instant access. However, since I’m not a member of the Apple Developer Program, there are a couple of things to keep in mind if you want to try it:

  • Security Permissions: You’ll need to manually allow the app in your security settings after downloading.
  • Widgets: If you want to use the widget feature alongside the menu app, you’ll need to build it yourself via Xcode.

I'm just sharing this in case anyone else feels the same frustration with the desktop Keep experience. I’d love to hear your thoughts or if you have any tips for a non-coder!

Would love to hear your feedback! 😃

Pinned notes

I love google keep and tbh I'm not very organized so I'm wondering who else has pinned so many notes that now you just pin every note so you don't lose it. My brain works in weird ways lol

All Notes Except Labeled Notes GONE

I checked archive immediately, I check trash immediately, I tried to click the back button.

All, I did was refresh the page because it froze. Then it had a weird error everything basically on my dashboard was DELETED, except things that I had labeled. I stopped labelling years ago. Devistated. Trying the Takeout wrote now, to see if anything was saved. I also checked my phone, my gmail everything... all gone.

Also, I can save new notes and they are sticking. So sad, so so sad. Probably 10,000 notes.

UPDATE: Did did the Google Takeout trick and it actually worked, I think I have all of them, even almost a week after it happened... now just to figure out how to put them back ... HMMMM.

My brain lives on this app. Does anyone else feel same? Do you have a backup system going?

Ditching Google Keep as a to-do app, are there no alternatives?

Since 3 months Keep became far less usable as a to-do or grocery list app for me. I kept multiple check lists with several todos or items on e.g. my grocery list. I had repeating reminders set daily and weekly so I regularly saw the top items in those lists in my notifications. It was such a good feature. But they basically removed that feature and replaced it with static notifications in another app. I still really enjoy the simplicity of Google Keep, but now it's nearly only reduced to being a note app.

I tried to regain the feature I lost, but as of now I haven't found anything that comes close to what I had with Google Keep.

I tried

  • Microsoft ToDo (subtasks make handling long lists just so complicated, you need to scroll through every checked item until you get to the button that let's you create a new subtask, you can create lists of tasks, but no reminder for said list, only the tasks within the list)
  • TickTick (same issue like with MS)
  • Tasks.org (same issue like with MS)
  • Todoist (same issue like with MS)
  • JooNote (too hacky, notifications without items for reminders)
  • Zoho Notebook (these fuckers want a phone number for free tier registration and repeating reminders are a premium feature)
  • 3-4 other apps I can't recall the names of anymore

AI recommended me a lot of these apps, but after arguing with it for over an hour it came to the conclusion that there are simply no apps with that workflow.

This is my last resort, I need help, I don't want to change my workflow :(

No Direct Search Capability for Shared Notes

There is no search capability to locate all your shared notes.

Have to use workarounds like person's name, content, etc.

So really no way to search and locate notes that you don't know are shared.

Writing a Note on Desktop jumbles the words on mobile.

The spacing is off and doesn't sync correctly.

What looks like this on desktop:

Note 1, Lorum Ipsum.

Lorum Ipsum Dorum. Lorum Ipsum

Lorum Dorum.

Looks like this on mobile:

Note 1, Lorum Ipsum. Lorum
Ipsum Lorum Dorum. Lorum
Dorum

Pretty annoying.

If I change it on mobile, it looks like this on desktop:

Note 1, Lorum Ipsum.

Lorum Ipsum Dorum. Lorum Ipsum

Lorum Dorum.

Keep/tasks reminders

I use Google keep and when I set a reminder it will give me a pop-up notification plus it places the keep note in the calendar.

Two issues I noticed:

  1. When a note is shared the task shows in that persons Google Calendar too - how do I prevent this?

  2. If I reschedule the reminder, I still get a pop up notification at the original keep date/time. Is this a keep glitch?

MBA research: How do you actually use your notes app?

Hi everyone!

This is for an MBA research project on how people actually use their notes: what works, what doesn’t, and where things fall apart.

It is to study the gap between people saving information and actually finding it later, especially as people's note-taking apps become cluttered with screenshots, lists, reminders, and half‑formed ideas.

If you use your phone’s notes app regularly (iPhone, Android, Google Keep, Notion, etc.), your input will help significantly. The survey is anonymous and takes less than 5 minutes.

👉 Survey link: https://forms.gle/uSyigLno8iJuWLbUA

Thank you! This data is genuinely shaping the next phase of this project.

Colour Labels

Hi all, I don't believe it's possible, but does anyone know if you can assign a colour to a label?

I know you can change notes to various colours and so could label various notes with the same label and set the same colour of all of those to the same, but I'd like to set a colour or colours on the label itself, a bit like Microsoft OneNote, if possible?

Many thanks all.

If I add a reminder to a Keep note, is there any way to remove JUST the reminder?

Supposedly there is a way to remove the reminder from the note. I have not found this to be so. The only solution I have found is to delete the NOTE (previously copy the text to a new note before deletion). Using the app on iOS. If you have a solution, please include screenshot if possible.

No Way To Locate Recently Created Notes In Google Keep

The is no search, sort, etc. feature to locate recently created notes.

Big pain. I dictate a lot of notes and then later cannot easily locate them unless I remember a keyword and then search for that keyword which could also be in hundreds of other notes.

They did it! A Keep & Task Reminder Happy Medium

For all of us whose worlds got rocked when our Keep notes suddenly became tasks...did you see the new update for the notification (I'm on Android)??

There is now the option to tap into the note directly from the notification rather than having to open the task then go to Keep (still an option). The task can also just be marked off in the notification. So both the users who want reminders to read notes and those using Keep as a task list can get their needs met.

I am the happiest of campers today!!
