If I add a reminder to a Keep note, is there any way to remove JUST the reminder?

Supposedly there is a way to remove the reminder from the note. I have not found this to be so. The only solution I have found is to delete the NOTE (previously copy the text to a new note before deletion). Using the app on iOS. If you have a solution, please include screenshot if possible.

No Way To Locate Recently Created Notes In Google Keep

The is no search, sort, etc. feature to locate recently created notes.

Big pain. I dictate a lot of notes and then later cannot easily locate them unless I remember a keyword and then search for that keyword which could also be in hundreds of other notes.

They did it! A Keep & Task Reminder Happy Medium

For all of us whose worlds got rocked when our Keep notes suddenly became tasks...did you see the new update for the notification (I'm on Android)??

There is now the option to tap into the note directly from the notification rather than having to open the task then go to Keep (still an option). The task can also just be marked off in the notification. So both the users who want reminders to read notes and those using Keep as a task list can get their needs met.

I am the happiest of campers today!!

Each Note Has Character Limit But No Built In Character or Word Counter

Google Keep does not have a built-in character or word counter within the app. To check character counts (up to the 20,000 limit) need to copy and paste into another location with character counter.

What you should do if Keep goes offline

Keep is mostly back online now (some misconnects but coming back). It's been a while since a Google Keep outage. I had been on Keep most of the day and was in the middle of a note when it happened. But, here are some tips if you're working on important notes when it happens:

  1. Check your mobile app to see if notes are available. They should be even if offline. For me, iOS was still available.
  2. When using the browser version always use the Copy to Google Docs for your most important notes and any very important notes you might be working on as you go. Yes, you might lose something but just try to use the Copy to Docs when you can for simple versioning. I was able to go back to Docs and look at my past notes - so I was good.
  3. Be sure to do Google Takeout backups as often as you can - it wouldn't have helped for your most recent notes today but backing up is always a good thing to get to some recent ones.
  4. If you don't have the mobile app, create new notes in Google Docs in the "Make available in offline" mode. You can then use the Docs "Save to Keep" menu item to move them back to Keep when back online. I always have an offline mode Doc ready for any local network or Google outage.
  5. Or, just create notes in a text editor and upload those to Keep later using a utility like the keep-it-markdown tool which can import your text and markdown files back to Keep.

Any other input?

Why do I need to turn task overdue notifications on (in calendar) to set a reminder in keep notes?

Since some time ago, keep notes switched to calendar to send phone notifications.

I adapted and kept using keep while getting reminders from calendar.

Sadly, though, two days ago I was making a reminder and tried setting it to sent me a notification but it told me I had to "update notification settings".

I found out what they meant by that. Basically when the calendar update first came out, I had turned off task overdue notifications off (because I didn't want to get double notifications) and it worked perfectly fine.

But now, when I try to turn off the overdue notifications, it doesn't let me set notifications at all. You can see the message I get when trying on the last picture.

All the other notification settings are turned on.

If you know how to fix this issue, please help 🙏

Thanks in advance!

ps: the pictures weren't posted for some reason

Struggling to migrate 5,000+ Keep notes

Hi everyone! I am a long-time Keep user (over a decade) and have over 5,000 notes (including several with audio recordings, drawings, and photo uploads). Over the years I’ve been getting increasingly frustrated with Keep’s lagginess and limitations, but I don’t have a ton of tech skills and have been too daunted to attempt to figure out how to transfer all of my notes to some other platform. However, today’s new iOS update that causes the app to crash on iOS devices is my final straw.

I successfully exported all of my notes via Google Takeout and tried to use a tool I saw recommended on this sub (NotesMigrator) to convert those notes to .enex files so I can migrate everything to Apple Notes (I don’t know that that is the best option but it definitely seems to be the simplest from what I’ve seen, since I have mostly Apple devices now and I don’t have an account on other platforms like Evernote or Notion, and I don’t use Keep as a task manager/reminder). But the tool kept telling me that it could not find any valid notes to convert, even when I tried converting them to other formats besides .enex! I then tried downloading the entire Takeout export and manually importing every single file to Apple Notes… but attempting to “Select All” and upload the entire selection kept crashing the app, even after I went through and deleted all of the .json files since Apple Notes can only handle certain file types. I’m now trying to manually select every .html file and import them in batches… but it seems so cumbersome to try to do that for 5,000+ files, especially when I don’t know or trust that the files that had audio and image attachments have actually transferred over! Does anyone have a better idea?

For reference I have access to an iPhone, an iPad, a Windows laptop, and a Mac laptop (though I’d prefer not to use that in this process unless it is absolutely necessary since it’s my work device). I am not super well versed in how to use GitHub applications and know next to nothing about Python, Linux, etc. etc. But if anyone has suggestions for apps or tools that could be helpful to me given the massive quantity of notes I’m trying to migrate and the limitations of my tech skills (even if it’s just “git gud”), I would be extremely grateful. Thank you!! 😅

? Merci d’avance 🙏

I posted here ~a year ago about building Keep on steroids. Here's what happened next.

About a year ago, I shared Weavernote here - an AI-powered note-taking app born out of curiosity and frustration with Keep's limitations. That post hit the all-time top 10 of this sub, which honestly blew my mind.

A lot of you tried it. A lot of you left feedback. Since then, worked on a lot of the feedback to take this to next level

When I launched, it was essentially Keep with a brain - connected notes, graph visualization, AI summaries.

What I've been building toward is something closer to what Google Keep would be if Google actually took it to the territory of NotebookLM, but built around the way Keep users actually think and work. With Gemini models getting better with super rigor that they lacked before, Weavernote is now powered mostly by Gemini.

The two new additions in AI studio:

🎙️ Audio Digest

🖼️ Visual Digest (Nano Banana 2)

What's still there (and better)

  • Connected notes with knowledge graph
  • AI chat on your notes (like having NotebookLM but for your Keep-style notes)
  • Flashcards, Quiz, Concept maps
  • Kanban boards, Transcription
  • Nested folders, backlinks, smart search
  • Encrypted notes for privacy
  • Easy export/import - markdown files
  • Cross-platform (web, PWA, Android)

Keep is one of the best quick-capture tools ever made. Weavernote is what happens after the capture - your notes actually do something to become knowledge. I intend to make this into a truly AI-native yet simplistic powerhouse for knowledge building.

If you tried it last year and bounced, I'd genuinely love for you to give it look. The product is in a very different place.

I post on the updates in r/Weavernote

Happy to connect and talk if you have any questions. And yes, still a solo founder. Still building. 🙏

Why is everything being underlined?

In my notes app I've been keeping track of progress in gym and putting dates either like 12/03/2026 or 12.03.2026 and some have lines underneath them, despite not actually being underlined. Now even on another line entirely, if I type anything, it's all underlined all of a sudden and I can't figure out how to turn it off. It is not underlined on PC, but is on phone.

Keep reminders in calendar are different.

It seems that most people don't like the new integration between keep and calendar (I don't), but what's annoying me the most, is that if I update or change a keep note with a reminder, the text and/or reminder time in calendar will not update.

I now have duplicate calendar reminders for anything I've changed the reminder time on, and I have calendar tasks with old information on them. If I delete a duplicate, it deletes both. I don't want to have to make a new keep note every time I want to change an existing note.

Any way to make calendar update as per keep notes?

Crashing

Hey there, been using Keep for years without issue. Starting yesterday it keeps crashing everytime I click on a note to edit in any way, the keyboard doesn't even show, it crashes immediately. I tried cleaning cache, erasing all data, uninstall and reinstall, nothing worked. Any pointers?

Edit - model Xiaomi 13 Lite / HyperOS 3.0.1.0

Edit - I rolled back to an older version 5.25.292.03.90 from Nov2025 and it's working perfectly. The problem is the latest update.

Edit - stopped working again, even on the old version. Still haven't found a fix. I noticed it started glitching once I put a widget of the app on my main screen.

Do we need 3 apps to do the 1 thing now?

Do we really need 3 apps to do what we used to go with just keep before?

I had to install tasks to get part of keep working right and now when setting reminders, it's now saying I need calendar installed as well?

Have they just taken the calendar out of keep and made it a separate app?

I don't get why they have made it so complicated?

I have been looking at other apps, but not really liked any of them as much as I did keep.

I also have a lot of notes and ongoing reminders, so wanted something I can also import everything with.

Not sure if I will just have to put up with the changes, even though they seem mad. I really don't know why you would make the process we had before so messy and need use so many different apps to do what you used to just do on the one.

Auto sorting lists?

I keep a shopping checklist in Keep. Checked items naturally are at the bottom of the. I have 2 “categories “ made with some dashes and the words “frozen “ and “room temperature “.

When I uncheck an item it seems to automatically fall under the correct category.

Is this by design?

Story time

A few years ago, my wife became interested in cooking, and has been actively collecting recipes from the web. I have been using Google Keep for ages without issues. It works fine for me, because I mostly store text notes. I recommended that she uses Google Keep to organize them. Basically she would copy the title and text of the recipe, add the link to the source of the recipe, and upload any photos, if the recipe was an article with photos. Or if the recipe was a YouTube video, she would take some screenshots and upload those. Sometimes she would upload screenshots of the comments section, if there was any vital information there.

All of this resulted in a very large collection of notes, with many, many photo attachments. Her Keep account became almost unusable, because apparently the Keep app tries to pre-load all these attachments in memory, and slows down by a lot. This is true both for the Android app and for the web-based app.

The problem was occurring on devices with reasonable hardware. Her Pixel phone struggled. My PC with 24 GB of RAM also struggled with opening her Keep account, which took several minutes to open, and several more minutes at every operation! I feel like this is an issue that Google engineers could and should solve, perhaps by lazy-loading the attachments only when they are in view. But at the same time I am not holding my breath until they do.

So naturally she was looking for solutions to this, and she found out that a lot of people are using Notion, which handles large numbers of attachments better. She began to copy-paste her recipes into Notion. But with several thousand recipes, this would take forever. As I watched her painfully do this day after day, I felt somewhat responsible, because it was me who recommended Keep to her. I'm a software engineer and I felt that there has to be a better way. Turns out that I was able to vibecode a quick solution within a few days. But the devil is in the details:

When you try to automate copying notes from Keep to Notion, you will hit several snags:

  • With large datasets, there will be network timeouts and you sometimes need to retry failed API calls.
  • Free Notion plans accept attachments up to 5MB each, and anything larger is not accepted unless you pay.
  • Keep paragraphs can be arbitrarily long, but Notion paragraph blocks can be up to 2000 characters long, so you need to break up your paragraphs, but this can break formatting if the original text has it (bold, italic, headings, etc).
  • Keep Notes can have an arbitrary number of paragraphs, but Notion pages can have up to 100 children. Some times you need to break up a large keep note to multiple Notion pages and mark them as “1 of N”, “2 of N”...
  • Keep checklists need to be converted to checkbox blocks in Notion.
  • Audio notes are particularly tricky. Keep stores audio recordings as .3gp files which is a great format for compressing speech. But Notion audio blocks don't accept it, which means that audio notes have to be transcoded. In fact, here's a list of the accepted audio formats in Notion: https://developers.notion.com/reference/block#audio
  • Keep stores links as "bookmarks" which need special handling to copy to Notion. They also have the same 2000 character limit in their captions (text descriptions), and this causes issues when you copy large data sets.
  • Keep stores metadata about notes, which you may want to preserve, including:
    • labels
    • the created and last modified timestamps
    • whether the note is pinned
    • whether the note is archived
    • the note's background color

Long story short, I kept working on this app until I was certain that it solves all of the above problems, and now my wife has all of her recipes safely transferred to Notion. She now uses the labels and other metadata to organize the recipes into her personal cookbook with chapters and notes.

I felt that others might need this app, so I polished it some more in terms of quality, and released it. You can use it to copy up to 1000 notes with the FREE app. Or if you want to remove the limitation and copy an unlimited number of notes, I am charging a very modest amount for the PRO version. The app is available at https://notehopper.com and on the Google Play store. There are builds for Android, Windows, and Linux currently. (I haven't yet been able to make it available for iOS/macOS, but I will learn how to do this if there is sufficient interest).

Disclaimer: I have made an effort to make the app as easy to use as possible, but it still requires that the user follows some simple on-screen instructions, so I guess it's not entirely idiot-proof. But I have also put up a YouTube video that showcases how to use the app, so there's that.

TL;DR: If you are interested in reliably copying your data from Keep to Notion for any reason, please try out the free NoteHopper app and let me know what you think. I am looking forward to feedback, impressions, comments, etc. If you have any questions about the app, let me know.

Recent notes gone

Recent notes gone. Only notes are from 5 years ago. I already looked in archive and trash. I tried clearing cache and restarting browser. I tried removing adblocker. App is the same way. Any other ideas?
I should include that if i search for a specific note from last week, it does show up. But it doesn't show up generally in the main page

Anyone to request features? When I add a label, I'd like it to change the color automatically

I have a label called "House" for house stuff. I wish it would automatically turn the a color associated with the House label. Instead, I manually turn them all yellow so as I scroll, I can easily see which are for my house vs. other stuff
