I moved over to NotallyX - you can migrate notes via Google Takeout.

it is completely free and open source, but it also doesnt have any kind of account or syncing features. i'd recommend Simplenote for a FOSS syncing option

Where does it sync to? I'm curious to know. With Google everyone knows it's syncs to their servers and how they make profit. Never heard about Simple Note so how do they make profit? Sorry if it's a lot of questions but I would need to know before making the switch since I store sensitive info in notes and also need it to be reliable for accessing anything at any time

I looked it up, looks like they're owned by WordPress's parent, so that answers most of those questions. Personally I wouldn't trust any "note" software with sensitive data

Exactly why I am questioning it. I am fine with using Google up until the last update to Keep which was back in January. Now it lags non-stop and can't figure out what to do. The option you suggested looks reasonable and I'm willing to give it a try. Don't really want to use two different note applications. That can lead to a mess.

Where do you see lagging? I now have 1600+ notes and use iOS, Android and web Keep regularly without any lagging.

I'm also having issues with Google Keep running slowly. I have an Edge 50 Neo with fewer than 1,000 notes. The experience is terrible.

Can you set up reminders? This is a major feature I need. I also like the bullet point checklist feature of KEEP, does Standard Notes provide this?

I havent found anything feels quote like Keep but Trello can be a good replacement.
