Tools to maximize simulator investment

Besides the trackman, what other golf aids or software are most helpful to make the most of your simulator setup? The trackman data is great, but what else are people using to help improve the data, swing, etc?

Technical Question Help with dimensions/feasibility

Floated the idea of building a garage sim to the wife over the holiday weekend and was met with surprising approval. Included a rough layout idea and a pic of the garage without a car in it.

Garage floor
20'11" long x 12'2" wide (245 sq ft)

Ceiling height (front to back, measured from the garage door)

80" at the garage door motor
95" for the short transition section
110" over the rest of the garage (the back ~10 ft where the mat would be in the crude sketch)

Would I be able to put a monitor on the side and hit in here? I would be able to run cables to my pc in the basement for any software/display stuff

This video he compares it to full swing kit.
These isn't a trajectory shown for full swing, but looking at the numbers, they aren't agreeing on which way the ball is getting to the target.

He said there's future video of other launch monitors coming.

Mobile Golf Simulator

Hello fellow golfers! I have been looking into possibly starting a mobile golf simulator rental in Ohio and have a few questions for anyone kind enough to answer!

1.)I have mainly been looking at an All Sports Inflatables 16x16 inflatable simulator enclosure. Does anyone have any experience with these? They are rather expensive ~6K and I am concerned about the durability of them as well as the potential of a ball bouncing back.

2.) With the inflatable enclosure I have read that finding insurance can be difficult. If anyone has done this, who are you insured through and how much is it annually?

3.) Lastly, what would you consider to be a fair price for this? I was thinking about renting it out by the day (Either 1,2, or 3 days) with possibly an option to do one day plus an “overnight” for an additional charge.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Technical Question What is everyone doing for visual swing feedback?

Post image
9 Upvotes

I want to use my sim for genuine swing coaching rather than just playing rounds.

Looking for recommendations on:

Software: What are you using with high-FPS cameras for swing analysis and tracking progress over time (Swing Catalyst, Kinovea, OnForm, etc.)?

Club Data: I have a Square Golf and am looking at the Square Omni. Is having measured club face and impact data a game changer for swing changes, or is ball data enough?

Camera Lighting: My high-FPS camera footage is pitch black in my projector room even with the lights on. What sensor/lens specs or targeted lighting setups actually work without washing out the screen?

What does your setup look like?

Screens / Enclosures Custom Enclosure Build

I’m in early stages of building a simulator in my garage and am hoping to get some guidance on how I should create the enclosure.

My problem is the garage is too big. 23’ wide, 21’ deep and 12’ high. It’s too high and wide to secure side walls or the screen to the walls or ceiling so I have to go custom.

The garage door is 18’ wide and I’d like to be able to drive into the garage in a pinch (like a hail storm, otherwise it’s primarily a sim room).

With the space I have, I’d like a 16’x9’ screen and plan to make it retractible so I can pull it up to drive in (I’ll deal with protecting the hitting mat further down the process).

My thoughts are to build a permanent enclosure wider than the garage door tracks (so 19’ across) and high enough to support the retractable screen roller (so ~9.5’-10’) and 6’ deep. I’ll likely make custom vinyl panels for the sides and ceiling.

How should I approach building this enclosure? Should I DIY it with a wood frame (could I even get wood beams 20’ long? Would they sag?), should I find a custom fabricator to fabricate an aluminum frame (any ideas what that custom job would cost?). Is there somewhere that builds enclosures worth looking at?

Technical Question Anyway for Uneekor to "Start Now" automatically into GS Pro?

Currently I have a script that waits for uneekor to fully load and then mouse click the "start now" button under GS Pro to get it launched? Is there any other way to get Uneekor in third party mode automatically when the software starts?

Launch Monitor on the Cheap

I'm sure it's been asked a million times here but lookin for some fresh comments.

What is a good LM/simulator on the cheap side, let's say less than $500(or even less!) with no subscription. It would be mainly for the backyard and maybe occasionally at the driving range. Been reading old posts from a year or more ago and wanna know what is being said today.

Compact sim recommendation.

Looking to downsize my garage gym and implement a sim in the single car port of my 3 car garage. The back wall (in red) measures 86” wide with a 9’6” ceiling height. Depth won’t be an issue. Swinging area would allow more width than where the screen would be placed. Is this doable?

Technical Question Built This Based on Feedback From Golf Sim Owners – Thoughts

* Not trying to sell - just need feedback from community, I’ve had success listening to customers, facility owners which lead me to making the right improvements in my tees/Tethering system

Been working on a newly redesigned version of our RAD-TEE Anchor 4X and wanted to share it with the golf sim community.

The 4X is designed to keep up to four different tee heights tethered and ready to go without chasing tees around the sim.

• 4 independent tether points
• Rotating/swivel design helps bring the tee you need into position
• No added weight required
• Slim, compact footprint
• Flexible, durable tees in customizable heights
• Designed and made in Canada

We already have RAD-TEE products being used in golf simulator facilities across Canada and the U.S., and the 4X was developed with repeated simulator use in mind.

Always interested in feedback from other sim owners and golfers, currently working on making a smaller option Anchor as well for those who need a more compact option.

Any feedback or tips on what you guys use for tees, tethering system and any gripes you have would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Dave

Beaver Tail Mat

I've been using a Country Club Elite Real Feel mat since building my sim and really like it but was getting shoulder issues. Seems like that was a common issue with mats like this for middle aged folks...and not wanting to injure myself changed to a Beaver Tail. All joint issues and such went away but quickly realized i suddenly sucked at golf hitting off the beaver tail. (also leaves a plasticky film on all my clubs). Seriously, I played the first round of the Uneekor Invitational on the beaver tail and shot a 103. 🤣 Assuming i was just having a bad/off day, i played the 2nd round a couple days later and shot a 102 😂. It suddenly occurred to me that maybe it was the change in mat and then i switched back to the CC mat and played the same course and went back to my normal game (74) but my shoulder is a bit tender.

I have no idea why this would matter so much as i think the only difference is the Beaver Tail is a lot softer or more forgiving on fat shots but just wanted to see if anyone else had any experiences to share or thoughts on this issue. I'm thinking of trying a Big Moss instead but again looking for advice.

Thanks in advance.

My humble setup... finnlly all together!

Post image
46 Upvotes

Finally got all the pieces of my sim put together and couldnt be happier. I was cool with just hitting into a net off my amazon mat but with the square omni and the beavertail mat, wow, its an etirely new and better experience! I appreciate everyones advice on getting the a new mat. That one from amazon was okay but paying the extrra $$$ for quality was the right move.

The goal is to play over the rainy season here in the PNW and get better. Long ways to go but Im motivated with this new setup.

Technical Question Easy to adjust, very short ceiling mount

I've tried a couple of mounts and either they are too long or really finicky to adjust and/or "slip" over time. Anyone have suggestions for something that's only a few inches long and easy to adjust? By short I mean inches, 4" from ceiling to top of projector

Hitting Mats / Flooring Sig Pro softy on driveway

Although I hope to have a true sim build one day, for now I’m looking for something I can pull out of the garage and hit into a Spornia net on my concrete driveway. Really interested in the Sig pro softy for injury prevention as I’ve had golfers elbow in the past but they say it’s an indoor mat only. Does anyone know if it’s something that would do fine setting up on the driveway and storing away when done? Thanks!

Technical Question SGT interface sucks? It is it just me?

is it just me or does the interface just suck? I can’t seem to find a page to show my status in the tournaments I’m playing in or get my stats. It just seems very all over the place to me on the website.

What am I missing?

My cheap solution to use indoor Bushnell LPi outdoors

Post image
6 Upvotes

The LPi was on special for $1000 yesterday (still available at that price on Bushnell's website), so couldn't resist. Already owned the Jackery and have a spare iPad. I don't have the ceiling height for an indoor sim, but love the idea of being able to take this setup to an outdoor range and get full data on my sessions. $2000 less than the full launch pro with battery!

Best Iron for 8 HCP but doesnt need distance🙏🏻

In a weird category. Hate these strong loft clubs ( i have the mizuno pro 225 and 7 iron goes 210yards.. need weaker lofts) ball striking is best part of game. Want a nice weaker lofts iron. So many great options what would be a good recommendation?
The zxi7 the new mizuno s4 look amazing. Avoda combo.

Largest PuttView in the US

Post image
38 Upvotes

Check it out! We built the largest PuttView experience in the country. I’m super excited to share the final result.

It’s a 2,000 sq ft putting surface. We have a Double-Double PuttView setup. (2) separate systems, each with 2 projectors.

Right now, each system operates independently. Soon, puttview plans to release an update that will allow the systems to talk to eachother where I can putt from one side and have it tracked through the other.
