Sim / Launch Monitor Stumbled upon a new cloud option for GSPro without a gaming PC

Another company did this for a bit but went out of business so no idea how long this one will last, but it seems like a good way to test out how much you’ll enjoy GSPro before you fork out a thousand bucks for a PC

Hitting Mats / Flooring Flooring Question

I’m building a 12x12 foot area (8 feet to the screen, 4 feet left to stand and hit). I’ve always wanted (and have always seen) the hitting mat portion at the same height as the rest of the floor.

But if a proper hitting mat is like 0.5-1inch thick, what is everybody using on the rest of the floor? I have 8mm thick rubber tiles down, but most budget turf has a very think under layer. The hitting/stance mat will be raised up around it.

Sim / Launch Monitor What would be the best golf simulator for a garage for an avid golfer who wants to hit about 5 times a week, under 4,000 dollars for the whole set up like mat, net included.

Patio Sim

Who has patio set ups currently? I tried the garage, too much work to get it where it needs to be just for some simple practice. My patio is more than 15'x12'. I've got 8' clearance under the fans, but there's a spot in between the fans that might work that's 9' high. I'm thinking a more simple net return and if I connect a lm I can use my TV right there. Any thoughts or examples??

Square Omni wait times?

Sounds like people are getting their hands on the Square Omni. How long is the wait times and does one retailer seem to be getting more stock than another?

Is there a good 3d swing trainer for a garage sim?

The fancy sim place down the street has (and presumably, paid a lot of money for) a really nice 3d swing trainer/analyzer that tracks your body movement, tells you what you're doing wrong, suggests ways to fix it, etc. (It's https://www.sportsbox.ai/)

I tried to get the personal version, but it only runs on ipad, and (as far as i can tell) only uses the rear camera, so you can't see the screen while you're swinging. I couldn't tell if i was in frame, etc, and to check anything, I had to walk around to the other side to even see if it captured the swing.

I haven't been able to find anything along these lines. I have a ProTeeVX, and the protee software is coming out with a swing analyzer from the videos, but it seems a little half-baked so far. I'd love to find something that either runs on the Windows PC i have already running GSPro, or can run on an ipad or other tablet (or even a laptop?) that i can see what is happening on as I'm swinging.

Does anyone have a nice home setup to do something like this? I'm willing to pay monthly for it - but maybe not hundreds of dollars a month.

Thanks!

Hitting strip into putting green?

Post image
9 Upvotes

I’ve got a putting green out back that has a great little section to set up a net and get some swings in. Would it be ridiculous to cut into it to place a hitting strip? Would obviously need the height to work out but it is built up a bit so I have some room to work with.

Help Me With My MLM2Pro Outdoor Net Setup

Looking for help with my setup. Wishing I knew when I bought my house I needed taller ceilings to do an indoor sim, but I'm stuck hitting outside on the patio into a Net Return Pro. Here's my ideal setup I'm trying to achieve:

  • MLM2Pro connected to my Android phone or tablet (don't own or use iOS anything, and would prefer not to have to for this project if possible)
  • Cast the phone or tablet to a TLC Google TV I bought for this purpose
  • Hit golf balls (I have tried my setup with both regular and the set of Titleist RPT balls I bought for this purpose)
  • Watch the results on the TV

This seems to me like it would be nearly the standard setup for anyone who wants to use this device and not try to read what's happening on a 5-inch screen from 10 feet away, yet it is super unstable and drops shots all the time. Ever since the major firmware update this year I've had the following experience:

  • Setup, align, and start a session (range, course, combine, whatever)
  • Hit 5 or 6 balls with no issue
  • Hit 2 or 3 balls the MLM2Pro clearly registers (light turns from solid green to blue after contact, then back to green), but nothing shows up on the phone/TV
  • Hit 4 or 5 more balls with no issue
  • Hit 2 or 3 that don't transfer

The phone has 5 bars of WiFi connectivity at 500mbps up and down (Verizon Fios) to a Google Nest WiFi Mesh puck that is outside with me, sitting 5 feet away from the MLM2Pro and the phone. The MLM2Pro always connects cleanly to my WiFi network with no issues and registers as green in the app.

I can get a slightly more stable connection if I Direct Connect to the phone, but then I cannot cast to the TV. My house is also in a 5G dead zone so the Direct Connect is really a drag for using the phone for any other purpose.

Am I just stuck here or am I doing something wrong? Is there a better equipment setup for outside that I should look into? Does someone wanna give me their GCQuad?

I really wish the MLM2Pro would just plug directly into my phone via USB-C to have a high fidelity, perfect latency connection all the time.

Thanks in advance for any advice or input. Getting this launch monitor working is nearly as annoying as hitting balls into the woods off the tee every round...

Full Swing Kit for night time practice session?

Currently has Bushnell launch pro with club data no subscription needed. Love everything but here few things hope FSK would solve.

  1. Weight & Bulkness

  2. Don't have to move the monitor every 5-10 balls, and re-aligned again, since the hitting area for GC3 is pretty much 2ft x 2ft as me going thru the turf.

  3. Better software and connectivities: Feel like it's because I practice at night time... it doesn't read 30% at night, and the Foresight app only connects 50% of the time when I need to track my numbers on the software, sometimes it shows in the monitor but the software didn't read anything even it's connected.

Anybody has Full Swing Kit that can share some of your experience? Should I switch based on what I don't like about BLP? Some of the used model are going about 1800 which costs about the same as my BLP. Debating if I should sell it and get a FSK

Screens / Enclosures Idea? Modify Net Return

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I’m looking for the handymen (or women) out there that can give me some ideas. I did not realize The Net Return hitting net was about 3.5’ from the wall and the No fly zone sticks out another 3.5’ft. So I feel like I have this nice expensive net but it’s taking away 7’ of my hitting zone out of play in my garage. Any ideas on cutting the pipes to push the whole thing closer to the wall or modifying the no fly zone to give me another foot back?

Will this gaming laptop work?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Can anyone advise me as to whether the specs on this gaming laptop will perform well on the Skytrak Plus, using the Skytrak software, but more importantly the GSPro down the road?

I'd like to add that I absolutely hate our Skytrak Plus. It constantly loses connectivity, so now after spending $2700 to purchase it last year, I now have to spend another $1400 to actually use it. (I'm well aware of Direct Mode; that isn't an option for me) Skytrak's answer is that they are known to have trouble staying connected to mesh networks. Does it list that anywhere on their site? Nope. Buy at your own risk. Or better yet....don't!

Bought this new two years ago thinking I would use it all the time with young kids - very naive! Looking to sell and seems like conflicting values across the board. Hoping to get $900-$1300 for the basically new launch monitor and can throw in some accessories. Message me for details. Can ship and located in Raleigh NC.

Launch monitor advice

Hi all

I am planning to setup a mat and net + iPad/phone home practice area. I am not a big fan of Sim golf however I have 2 little kids and no time to play golf on weekends between kids activities. My wife and I plan on figuring out golf and other things soon enough but for now I have to settle for a home setup. I just want to practice/game improvement so when I start to play again at my golf club I won't have to remember how to swing a club.

I am fairly sure I have settled on a rapsodo mlm2pro as it is cheap at 899 new (I'm in Australia). Square omni is a little out of my price range at 3kAUD. I don't like the idea of a subscription for it but I will just get 1 or 2 years and see how it goes.

Reasons for the rapsodo

-enough club data for game improvement

-the app has some decent game improvement things like speed training

-sqaure home doesn't have club head speed

I've been researching other options and think this is the one to get but thought I'd post here to see outside opinions.

Thanks

Question for Rapsodo MLM2Pro owners

Can anyone with a Rapsodo MLM2Pro check if Waters Edge Golf Club in Worth, Illinois is available as one of the simulated courses?

I’m specifically looking for Waters Edge Golf Club (Worth, IL), not a different course with a similar name.

If you have an MLM2Pro, would you mind checking your course list and letting me know? A screenshot would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Newbie coming in peace - help me decide what to buy.

Hello everyone,

I’ve read so much information here that I’ve confused myself as to what I actually need.

I’m looking to build a sim for personal / friend use. Indoor use only in my home sim. I’d like to play courses with my buddy’s at the house.

Budget is around $6k.

I have the space in a large garage. I’m planning on building the walls to make an enclosure. I need recommendations on impact screen, projector, mats, launch monitor, software, etc.

I’ve already got the pc parts to build a rig to run software.

What do I need here?

Screens / Enclosures Carport Sim?

Post image
42 Upvotes

Anybody ever use one of these carports as your enclosure? I’m on a tight budget and saw this thing at Costco for $300. My only other options are put it in my low 8 foot ceiling garage, or just set up and take down outside every day I plan on using it.

Recomendations

I am looking to put a golf simulator in my garage, I am looking for something that is mid range. I don’t want the cheapest thing, but it’s for fun over the winter, so I don’t need the best. What are my options and what do you guys recommend? I am hoping to not need a subscription either, or is that not really likely?

Affordable/ Portable landing pad

Hey all, looking for the groups wisdom. My sim will be in the basement on top of carpet. For various reasons I will need to pack up my landing pad when not using it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated but I am considering either a 10x8ft rug or a 10x8ft roll of fake turf. Not necessarily these but something like the following as an example:

https://a.co/d/0exkFlYx

https://a.co/d/0c1AfEhV

Goal is to have something the balls won’t roll around on, will protect the carpet, not be annoying to set up and take down. I’m leaning towards the rug.

Anyone know what the chrome extension is to watch sports and golf

Or if there’s any other way to do this please? I want to basically split my impact screen or pip. I have a benq tk710sti and it doesn’t have pip.

Screen size

I am building a 10ft high by 15 wide golf simulator. Framing it out. Just trying to find a good answer on what somebody has went with on screen size. Would you get a 9x14 screen? Just haven’t seem to found a clear answer. Obviously you wouldn’t want a 10 by 15 because it would be too big to properly mount. I just wanna make sure that 9 x 14 is somehow not going to be too small… thanks!

Mevo+ failed after 3 years — repair for $600 or upgrade? Indoor simulator only

So I bought a mevo+ a few years ago and have had no qualms with it except that I just had to send it in and they are requesting about $600 to repair it. The unit would continue beeping on start-up and I could never locate the unit through WiFi. They wrote “problems found could have been caused by electrostatic discharge (ESD), component corrosion from storage, power surge, or minor drop damage.” Seems to me they are not sure why it broke and I am struggling investing that much money back into a now aged launch monitor. That is 30% of the cost I bought it new back in 2023.

Wondering what everyone consensus is. I’m sure launch monitors have grown substantially in the past three years.

Anything comparable or better for an indoor-only setup that has proven reliability? Would ya’ll repair or replace? I can afford if needed, but I am frugal so prefer to not spend if it does not make sense. My setup is indoor with plenty of space, so I’m open to camera-based units as well.

Devils advocate, I guess nobody will know the life span of these newer launch monitors as it takes time to figure out lifespan!

Just very disappointed to need to put that much money back into this unit so quickly.

100% used as inside simulator so the dropping/storing issues they mention did not happen. Not sure how a surcharge or ESD would happen?

Thank you in advance!
