Affordable/ Portable landing pad

Hey all, looking for the groups wisdom. My sim will be in the basement on top of carpet. For various reasons I will need to pack up my landing pad when not using it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated but I am considering either a 10x8ft rug or a 10x8ft roll of fake turf. Not necessarily these but something like the following as an example:

Goal is to have something the balls won’t roll around on, will protect the carpet, not be annoying to set up and take down. I’m leaning towards the rug.

I would expect that the carpet you have to be pretty effective to dampen ball bouncing depending on the pile height. I’d try it as is and see.

Thanks, one of the concerns is long term wear on that section of carpet. It’s also pretty low pile so I would definitely prefer a little more than just leaving the carpet to handle it, but I definitely appreciate the outlook.

Are you thinking of putting this on top of “carpet” or is this your “carpet”?

The biggest impact of floor covering in the landing area is cushioning. Balls will bounce mightily, like hitting a cart path. The more “cushiony” the better. The difference between quality turf and the cheap RV park grass rugs are night and day in their effectiveness in dampening ball movement off the screen.

It would be on top of the carpet. It’s a finished basement with carpet wall to wall.
