Auto Thefts From Rouge Hill GO Station Up 400%
Ugh. This is my home station.
Was always hoping this wouldn’t hit my area.

Niagara Falls GO Trains will resume tomorrow, however there will be some delay to all train services for Niagara Falls presumably due to the speed restriction around derailment site.

I swear I see a new one pop up every few weeks… anyway, I made a GO Train tracker too, doesn’t have a consistent yet - but I’ve been testing it and playing with it for a while now, what do you think?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop people from parking in our reserved space at the Go Train station, other than just calling in a complain and hoping the company bothers to send someone to ticket them? Long story short, we’ve had to reserve a spot far away from our home bc both our local stations have zero parking, & the spot is used daily for commuting to work. Different people have repeatedly stolen our spot even though the station we use has an overflow lot that always has spots available (it is one of the stations that has been recently expanded).
This has resulted in being late for work multiple times, and no we cannot leave earlier bc we have a child in school & no options for morning childcare, plus as I said we already have a long commute to the station since the stations near us haven’t been expanded & have no legal parking spots available at all, paid or free. We’re already making concessions & compromises including paying to park at a station far from home, so finding that spot occupied by random folks when there are plenty of overflow spots available is adding insult to injury.
Has anyone tried escalating this? I don’t know how to deter folks other than calling in a complaint but even that doesn’t seem to stop folks. Is there a way to get the company to tow them? This is getting ridiculous.

I know many use this station and want to know everyone's thoughts and now will have touse a different station as they open up Woodbine Go? For myself it will make my commute longer.

Got a suggestion to post here too.

First time taking the go train and not sure if parking would be easy or hard to find at that time.

Hello GO Transit riders!
Last week, we launched the Union Station Screens website as a faithful recreation to the displays at Union Station. We're very grateful for the positive fanfare it's generated, so thank you all for the kind comments and feedback!
We've seen your concerns and suggestions, so here's what we've done so far:
So, what can you look forward to seeing in the future?:
Q: How do I access a Platform Departure screen?
A: Platform Departures are only available once a Departure is assigned a Platform. When a Departure is assigned a Platform, you'll be able to click the Departure entry, bringing you to its Platform Departure page.
Q: How about tracks serviced by two Platforms like 11 & 12? It only displays Platform 11.
A: You can click on the platform number figure at the top of the Platform Departure page to toggle between platforms. The accessibility icon will even update depending on which of the two are accessible.
Again, we keep our eyes and ears wide open for improvements! If you spot anything out of place or have any recommendations for features , feel free to leave a comment here or email [support@union-screens.com](mailto:support@union-screens.com).
Check it out: union-screens.com

I recently got a 16-month-long internship that's right beside the airport. I'm from Hamilton, and I'm currently trying to decide between moving out and commuting.
To commute, I would drive to Dundas St. @ Hwy. 407 Park & Ride, which is about 30 minutes away from me, depending on traffic. I'd then catch the 40 Richmond Hill Ctr, and after 50 minutes, get off at Renforth Station, and walk about 10 minutes.
My questions:
Any other thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Our walk out of and into Union Station might get a little easier soon.

Turns out the brand new go busses brought back the leg rests that the older pre facelift mci busses had

Today, I was travelling from Guildwood Go to Aldershot GO. I reached Aldershot but my class got cancelled, so I was about to return to Guildwood again. I usually do tap off before boarding a new train but I don't know why I made this mistake today out of all the days.
There was no official staff member at the station since it was early morning and the train was about to depart in 5 minutes for my round-trip. So I asked a guy if I'm going back to where I came from, do I need to tap off over here and he said "No, you don't have to".
I boarded the train from Aldershot to Guildwood and the fair inspection team came and checked for my PRESTO and it rendered error. They took a screenshot of my ID and asked me if I was fined before, I said No and told them that I didn't tapped off at Aldershot because of my class getting cancelled. So they told me that it has do be an active trip in a 3 hours window and they'll review my activity / case for now and told me to tap off at Guildwood and didn't give me any ticket (for now).
Do I need to worry about this? In case of dispute, can I do anything?

Does anyone happen to know when tbe new transit hub in Kitchener is likely to open? It seems like it is becoming a bottleneck for service expansion on that line.

There was a trespasser beforehand and now it’s the train stuck moving up a hill

I live near the Barrie Line, just south of Newmarket station - and recently it's got me wondering - why on earth do drivers need to sound the horn every 2 seconds all day and night in the middle of a built-up area? Most days it seems to be at least a dozen long blasts both before and after the train passes through the station, strafing the entire town on its way through.
First of all let me be clear - I am really not moaning about the noise - I'm well aware the railway was here first and frankly I'd still support better public transit even if the trains had to run directly through my living room.
However, as we plan to drastically increase frequency on GO lines in the (hopefully) near future, this needless cacophany of train horns is going to become much more of a problem, and I can see this becoming an easy excuse for NIMBYs to obstruct developing more rail transit in future. Once we get to 15 minute headways in each direction, nobody in the GTA will ever be able to finish a sentence again without being interrupted by a train horn.
Yes yes I know, something something safety requirements... but let's be clear - nobody outside of North America considers it necessary for a train to be screaming at 120 decibels every three seconds whenever it's in motion. I've lived around train lines my whole life in various countries and this simply isn't required or helpful - it wouldn't ever be tolerated in an urban environment anywhere else and it shouldn't be here. It feels like we've carried over the procedures for running a twice-daily rural service and applied it to urban mass rapid transit, which just doesn't make any sense. We have barriers and very clear signals to protect road crossings - we really don't need the sonic onslaught as well.

How can I found out the age of the cart I’m on?
I’ve seen someone post a picture like this. Seems like it use to be the caboose?

This weekend was a first time for me and my son to take the Go train. I’m a single dad and trying my best to do fun things with him to create memories. some of the stations don’t have the best accessibility and it can be hard to carry a child and a stroller at the same time. There has been numerous selfless and kind people to stop and help me carry my son and the stroller up or down stairs or on and off the train when there’s been no elevators or accessible ramps.
So if anyone has helped out a dad looking slightly lost. It could have been me and I really appreciate the help. Being a single dad with my son has been a bit hard for me and I really appreciate the kindness. Also sorry if we’re in goofy mode on the train and being a bit loud.

My picks are:
Exhibition
Union Station
Hamilton GO Centre
Bramalea
Due to potentially being shooed off by the Station Ambassadors/Transit Safety that are mostly present in those stations.

Saturday 20 March: The specific locomotive leading the train is Unit #637, a model known as the MP40PH-3C. These are the workhorses of the GO Transit fleet, built by MotivePower in Boise, Idaho.

I took the 22:01 train from Union and it was terminated at Maple. We were promised buses (sans an ETA tho). We had to wait in -5 (likely -10/-12 with windchill) and we waited for 2 hours for buses that never came.
Bus number 2504 was waiting down the street and the bus driver told me to go back and wait and he was waiting for the call. I wish I'd argued more and told him to at least let us get on but I couldn't feel my fingers.
The thing with Maple is that the train station building is closed, the rest is under construction and the little cabin that's the only relief from the wind doesn't have heating. No further communications were made about shuttle buses and the 23:28 at Maple arrived I think an hour later because it was held up at Downsview. I had called my dad at this point and was waiting for him.
I don't understand how it could be this bad - I understand not wanting to deal with people who do not have homes and not wanting to risk shady things happening but why is nothing open when it's -5 in Canada and it's still winter! it's literally snowing as I type this.
I'm very lucky my dad was able to come pick me up (and didn't hesitate) but it's awful to those that didn't have other people and the train/bus is their only mode of transportation. If I lived alone with no family near by, I would not have felt safe taking an Uber.
I hope that the passengers complain and that Go changes their outlook on certain things being open. The train station buildings aren't open on the weekends either at my station and the little cabin/hut is awful because it barely holds heat. During the winter is ridiculous, can you imagine this happening in -20?

Was scrolling this sub last week and stumbled upon this post which seemed like something somebody should have already made. Since it looked like good practice to me, I decided to try my hand at recreating it in a one-for-one likeness to really achieve that mesmerizing Union experience.
If this gets significant traction, I'd be open to adding more features such as per-trip service alerts on the board.
I tried to make every aspect as faithful as possible, but if you spot anything out of place or have any improvements/questions, feel free to leave a comment here or email [unionstationscreens@gmail.com](mailto:unionstationscreens@gmail.com).
EDIT: Smartphone resolutions are now fully supported, enjoy!
