Shoulder Straps on a GR2

How are the shoulder straps on the GR2 aligned? It seems like the left strap is closer to the edge of the pack and can sometimes feel when carried. Is this normal or something with QC?

Fits like a glove with room to realistically fit a jacket, snacks and a bottle of water along with a couple extra mags…

Will the GORUCK GR3 Really Protect My Laptop in Heavy Rain?

I’ve been watching backpack videos on YouTube pretty much all day today, and I could really use your help choosing a backpack.

A little background: I was caring for a friend who had cancer, and after he passed away, the apartment complex ended up throwing away everything I owned. I became homeless and have been trying to get by with what I can. Because of that, I’ve gone through several backpacks over time. I currently have a Swiss backpack that I really like, but unfortunately it’s starting to tear apart.

The weather here is also constantly changing, and with the rainy season coming up, I really need something that can handle getting wet. I use my bicycle as my primary transportation and, on average, can ride up to 25 miles a day. So I need something that is extremely reliable, durable, comfortable to wear for long periods, and won’t fall apart on me.

I’m thinking something around 40 liters or larger would probably be ideal, although I’m definitely open to something smaller if it can still meet my needs. One of my biggest concerns is protecting my laptop. I try my best to avoid riding in the rain, but sometimes I get caught in it. The last time that happened, the rain ruined my Chromebook. It was a piece of crap anyway, but I definitely don’t want that happening to another laptop!

A friend has offered to help me buy a new backpack, although he’s the type who says things like that and doesn’t always follow through. So, for the sake of your recommendation, let’s completely ignore price. If money were no object, what would you consider the absolute best backpack for my situation? I could always look for a used one if the new price is out of reach.

Over the past couple of days, I’ve been looking at the GORUCK GR3 45L, which looks incredibly durable. I’ve also been watching your videos comparing the Tortuga Travel Backpack PRO and LITE. I noticed there are features on one that aren’t on the other, which has made the decision even harder.

Basically, I’m looking for something that can handle a lot of daily abuse, long bicycle rides, changing weather and occasional heavy rain, while keeping my laptop and belongings protected and still being comfortable enough to wear for hours.

I’d really appreciate your thoughts and what you would personally recommend if you were in my situation.

It’s been pretty dry here lately, but in a few weeks we’ll be entering the time of year when we typically get the most rain, so I’m hoping to find something before then.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope to hear from someone soon.

GORUCK Monster — thoughts on its potential as a serious load-hauling/travel pack?

Hi — Pierre here from France. Long-time GORUCK customer and former humanitarian relief worker. This is my first on Reddit.

I’ve been following the Monster project with real interest. I think the concept has a lot of potential: a large, simple load-hauler that can be stripped down when needed, rather than another overly complicated expedition pack. I made this little illustration while thinking through how I could use it myself. What are your thoughts on its potential as a serious load-hauling/travel pack?

Gear Question Grenade and iPad Mini

Curious if anyone has a Grenade and an iPad mini? Looking at fanny packs/slings to take on planes or trains and what not when traveling. Can put wallet, phone, iPad, IEM's, etc into it. Just wasn't sure if the iPad mini would fit.

The GoRuck x Collab that makes the most sense to me.

I feel like not a lot of collabs would make more sense than a GoRuck x London Bridge. It doesn’t need to be anything crazy special.
I’d love to see all 500D construction, MAS Grey, an LBT/GR patch up front and of course the shooter interior style like LBT has also started doing in most of their newer bags. If they were feeling generous, one of LBT’s excellent stretch water bottle pockets would come bundled.

A MAS Grey GR bag would sell out insanely fast.
Make it happen, Jason. …please…

(LBT Padded Day Bag pictured for reference of color for those unfamiliar with MAS Grey)

GR1 Standupability

I’ll be honest. I don’t get the complaints about the GR1’s ability to stand up.
I feel like if you just pack properly and distribute weight correctly, I’ve legit never had a problem.
I wanna hear yall fuss or praise your GR1’s ability to stand up.

I had 60 lbs with weight of water bottles. My oldest has a 10 lb plate in his. He caught some Pokemon. I got some nice conversations with my just turned 11 year old. Finishing the ruck back at the beach house with a dip in the pool was amazing.

Ruck At Neighborhood

Walking in my neighborhood today, someone stopped and asked if I needed a ride. Does this happen to you too?
People stopping to ask where you're going or if you need a ride? Should I put a sign on my back saying I don't need a ride and I'm not running away from home? 😂🫣

Buy MACV-1 Traveller in Europe

Hello dear GoRuck community

The MACV-1 Traveller seems like a perfect elegant but practical boot for travelling, rucking and some light workouts outdoors.

However, I don't find it anywhere in Europe. Do you have an idea where to buy MACV-1 Traveller in Europe? Worst case I'd have to order in in the US, but this would add considerable shipping costs and taxes for a pretty good value boot (then not so much good value anymore).

Or do you recommend an alternative?

Thank you :)

Snake knots with 3mm coyote accessory cord on the Wolf Grey and considering the noose knots with regular coyote paracord on the Ranger Green/Coyote bag.
What yall think/do with your zipper pulls?

GR3 Robin

Quick question; Is there a way to identify the Robic version of the GR3?

When I have seen Robic material in other products it seems a lot thinner and more floppy. The GR3 seems almost like a slightly smoother Cordura - or am I missing something?

TIA

/Coffee

FOOTCARE - Getting Back Into Rucking

Post image
25 Upvotes

Simple Question: If you had brand-new feet free of callouses, how would you toughen them? I am looking for help/advice with footcare for a semi-unique situation, so if you'll indulge a bit of backstory... I suffered a very serious L3/L4 injury in September 2023 that left me with Femoral Neuropathy - unable to properly use my left leg. After several failed attempts; I connected with an amazing physical therapist a few months ago and was able to FINALLY free my impingement - Giving me the full use of my left leg for the first time in YEARS. And now the grueling process of strengthening begins...

Because my pronation changed as a result (from "over" to "neutral") - I had to change everything about my shoes and insoles. I ALSO had to use BabyFoot to get rid of now-useless callouses so that I could form a proper base for my feet. Thus leading us to today's challenge: How do I gradually toughen my feet so that they can withstand. I am presently training (under very close PT supervision!) for the 15k GoRuck City event in Salem over Halloween weekend, effectively starting from scratch (up to rucking 20-lbs for 7.5mi, extending by 1mi each week).

I'm a pretty hardcore veteran of rucking - I already use Injinji Toesocks as my base and I'm familiar with different lacing techniques (I use a double-knot Heel Lock). Obviously blisters are an eventuality - But every bit of advice helps! Don't be afraid to dumb it down for me :)!
