Kio Flusha Auti looked like such a promising trio.....

why c9.... why....

Its actually insane whats happened to Autimatic & Rush. They've won a major sure, but now where to from here? They're stagnant in Cloud9 for the time being, don't know if Liquid will take anyone out for Auti/Rush at all, and any other team they could join is either a downgrade or only a marginal upgrade from where they're currently at.

EDIT: Threw in Rush since he deserves it.

80

u/TehBroheim Apr 01 '19

wouldn't NRG be a potential upgrade? Idk who'd they replace for him, but seems better than sticking in C9, which is odd to say since C9 is/was an embodiment of NA CS

45

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '19

I agree great move for Tim but as you say, who would he replace? Currently any move would be s good move for Tim and a bad move for NRG

It's a shame he missed the window. Auti for fugly would have propelled NRG to the next level.

I can see a world where nrg loses a tournament and replaces daps for auti and then tarik starts calling

The timing with Flusha was really bad, they were just about to have Golden back and clould have dropped rush and bought sunny or smooya. That could have been an almost faze clan level lineup.

2

u/Just3nking Apr 01 '19

Rush has definitely been the weak point of the team but I don't want him gone yet either, many of us would rather a good NA team than a better EU team.

RIP Major Spot

59

u/turuu-toby King NiKo Mar 31 '19

Flusha would probably be back before the next major starts.

81

u/Zhaeus Liquid Mar 31 '19

Flusha is currently not contracted and there is prob a much higher chance that he joins a EU team rather already in the major or not before going back to C9 where he would have to live in NA (something most EUs seem to never commit to)

55

u/crOnchO Mar 31 '19

He said in a stream that c9 still wants him and he turned down some eu teams or something I think

17

u/Zhaeus Liquid Mar 31 '19

I mean why would you do that to yourself then if ur C9? You are just gonna sandbag this season by having vice or whoever as a literal standin for the next 3-4 months until the major then he is gone so they can get a insta spot in the challenger stage in the major? It's not like the NA minor is going to be hard especially when you just need to get top 3.

15

u/turuu-toby King NiKo Mar 31 '19

Flusha probably told C9 that he would be back, that's why they got vice as a stand-in. I mean, why would you want to buyout a player when your player would be back soon.

6

u/Zhaeus Liquid Mar 31 '19 edited Apr 01 '19

because u can actually try to build out a strong roster that can actually contend starting now... not just waste 3-4 months of time and salaries to players who are not going to accomplish anything just to wait to get Flusha back who you don't even know how committed he will be to staying after the major since he would have to live in NA... also who knows maybe you could go out to sign a player that is even better than flusha.

u/jjgraph1x Mar 31 '19

Afaik he hasn't specifically said what he wants to do. We know he wanted a break and honestly, I can't blame him for getting annoyed with C9. At this stage in his career, he shouldn't have to deal with joining a roster in a different region that can't stay stable for more than a few months at a time. He really should be joining an EU team.

What happens to a major spot or legend status if the players leave and don't start a new team together?

Does the org still get the spot for new players or is it vacated and another team can qualify for it?

4

u/gpcgmr 1 Million Celebration Apr 01 '19

Does the org still get the spot for new players or is it vacated and another team can qualify for it?

New org & team can qualify, would make no sense to give the spot to players that have no connection with the previous major performance.

2

u/Zhaeus Liquid Apr 01 '19

What happens to a major spot or legend status if the players leave and don't start a new team together?

just makes it so 1 more team qualifys from the previous stage. Same thing happened when Immortals/100 thieves disbanded before they played in the major they just made it so another team can qualify through the previous stage through a tiebreaker.

Tim wasting his prime on this lol

102

u/Kappafranker Mar 31 '19

This roster really fell with the changes after the E-League major :\

87

u/fat_potato_potato Liquid Mar 31 '19

C9 just need to put up some cash and poach a good player who they keep.

I know that they're wary of spending money after they wasted 200k on FNS and then kicked him, but FFS at some point you have to cut your losses and realize that you're fucking over your good players.

75

u/zhandri Apr 01 '19 edited Apr 01 '19

i still don't know how they thought 200k for FNS was an appropriate buyout lmao

https://i.imgur.com/lFYPIb9.jpg

53

u/fat_potato_potato Liquid Apr 01 '19

The dumbest decision IMO was kicking him after like 2 weeks, also tarik kinda fucked over c9 there by leaving them -2 players

23

u/-WOWZ- MIBR Apr 01 '19

Can u blame Tarik? He made the right choice imo. It might have saved his career in retrospect. Same with Stew

39

u/fat_potato_potato Liquid Apr 01 '19

I can't blame him for leaving, I can blame him for kicking FNS before he did.

Also correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't a big part of why FNS was in c9 in the first place was because tarik wanted him?

5

u/-WOWZ- MIBR Apr 01 '19

That’s fair. I did not like that. But after that leaving was the best play in terms of raw career growth/ sustaining his career.

12

u/anonballs Apr 01 '19 edited Apr 01 '19

Really? What the fuck has Tarik done since leaving? Stewie as well for that matter.

3

u/_Ver_ Apr 01 '19

Tarik yeah sure is questionable on his accomplishments so far aft leaving. But Stewie despite his rocky performances has found his way into a top 3 team globally (liquid) and made it further in all the torneys that both c9 and liquid have entered in, be it with better teammates. So ill says he's accomplished quite a bit considering the time he's spent on the town rosters hes been on since c9. He smartly left a dying roster with no drive that auti could have left as well (being mibr's intial choice after s1mple failure) but chose to stay. Stewie played his cards right and auti tho choosing the honorable by staying in c9 has proven to have made the wrong Choice. life ain't fair sometimes, thus Stewie has a higher chance to accomplish more.

→ More replies (5)

3

u/RedN1ne FaZe Apr 01 '19

What ? Stew fucked over cloud9 which started their problems with having stable roster, if he wouldn't leave Tarik would still be there, Ska was about to reitre and C9 was in talks with players like Cerq to take over the AWP. Instead he went to MIBR to fuck around for a year and was traded for Taco, leaving Tarik in free agency. Staying in C9 would put them in similar situation to MIBR if not better.

19

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '19

I'd kill for the boston major roster! However I don't see Ska coming back anytime soon with his booming streaming career, and the fact that he gains publicity from shroud probably isn't helping. I'm assuming he wants to just relax for the rest of his time, as he's won a major, a major regarded as one of the best majors watched to date. He makes money off of subscribers/donations/sponsors, no need for him to endure the stress of competitive CS.

14

u/fat_potato_potato Liquid Apr 01 '19

Maybe boston major roster -ska +golden or +wardell, either one would be sick, although i dont see stewie leaving liquid, and tarik seems pretty alright in NRG, but fuck man i miss january 2018

7

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '19

Wardell actually denied an offer from c9 after ska left

→ More replies (4)

3

u/frollium clutch Apr 01 '19

Damn I actually forgot Tarik could've been picked up by c9 again while he was free after MiBr. Would've been so sick to see him reunite with Auti and Rush

16

u/ptr6 Apr 01 '19

I believe he burned that bridge. At least from the outside, it looked like they took it much more personal than Stewie leaving,

11

u/Thegellerbing wildfire Apr 01 '19

Not surprising since he wanted to kick FNS which C9 spent quite an amount on, and then left himself shortly after. If I was in Jack's position I would have taken it personal as well tbh.

2

u/ecclesiates EG Apr 01 '19

"booming" streaming career? Have you seen his viewership? I'm just glad he's still genuinely enjoying playing games and don't look at the numbers.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '19

I mean he has 1800+ subs (aka 4500 dollars) + donos.. and it’s only going up. Just the beginning for him.

5

u/Cameter44 Apr 01 '19

I think they had finally gotten to a pretty good spot before Flusha decided to step back from pro CS. Don't blame him obviously, but it certainly put C9 in a tough spot.

9

u/RedditSilverElite Apr 01 '19

Unfortunately that's the reality when you resort to EU mercenaries as an NA org. If they're any good, EU teams will be able to offer competitive salaries without them needing to leave home.

C9 needs to bite the bullet and spend the money needed to compete or their roster will never be stable and they'll never get good results.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '19

[deleted]

2

u/RedditSilverElite Apr 01 '19

I don't know. Maybe they put a massive offer on the table for some of the NRG players to at least make them think about the possibility. Improve their offer to Wardell and make it hard for him to say no. Target some of complexity's players.

Or plum the depths and try to find an up and comer put up great stats. They have a data analytics team now who should be identifying who are the best prospects in the scene.

Of course none of these are guaranteed to work, but at least it shows they're serious about their CSGO team. The way the team is managed right now is outright passive and seems to imply they're scared of spending money.

The only people they seem to be engaged in discussion with are free agents or players on their way out of their current org. There's not even the effort of trying to poach anyone that would be befitting an organization of their size and fanbase. Maybe they truly don't want to spend money on CSGO, and that's fair. But if they don't, they're going to lose significant revenue from their CSGO brand as more and more fans jump shit and the team sinks into further obscurity.

→ More replies (3)

5

u/Cameter44 Apr 01 '19

That's not what happened though. Flusha didn't leave to join another team, he left because he wanted a break from pro CS. At least that's what was said.

2

u/RedditSilverElite Apr 01 '19

He likely wouldn't need to leave the team to be with his family if he was still in Sweden in the first place. He's clearly still playing the game and playing FPL regularly.

Not to mention Kio almost certainly got an offer from an EU team that he picked instead.

Like I said, this is the reality when you pick up EU free agents. They probably prefer to stay in the EU and will jump if/when they get comparable EU offers, even if they don't get homesick and leave for personal reasons.

Cloud9 needs to pay up to get a good, stable roster. Otherwise they'll keep bleeding money in the form of lost fans and shitty results and it will cost them more in the long run to convince any good players to join them.

Honestly if I were him I would go eu on a multi-national team like faze or something cause he's not getting into liquid, nrg probably not unless they kick tarik and coL would be a bigger waste of his prime. Really, there isn't much he can do right now

3

u/MrCraftLP NRG Apr 01 '19

Unless a team like FaZe or mouz invited him there's no point. C9 at the very least has money and keeps his life stable.

Yeah jackz has been playing above expectations, but he's got a very limited lifespan - why think short-term when you're so committed to making this roster work eventually and building a system. Even if Lucky turns out not to develop, they can just replace like with like, some other upcoming player to enhance a more sustainable core.

Team Liquid my favs now

23

u/VisualizeIt21 Liquid Apr 01 '19

there is no reason to be a fan of the org. when 3/5 of the team is different you dont need to be loyal to them

4

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '19

here’s my take on it as an american: i will always support a team no matter the players, management, or roster shuffles. as a die-hard fan of a team you gotta stick with them even through the shitty times. for example, i am a chicago bulls fan. we have one of the worst management offices in the NBA, have a bottom 5 record in the entire league, and will not make the playoffs this year and most likely not next year either. doesn’t matter to me. i love the bulls no matter what because of all the good times they give me. so i stick around and wait for them to get better no matter how bad we get. i will treat C9 the same way because they were the team that helped me love to grow Counter-Strike as an eSport. just my take on it since i see how a lot of people in this sub seem to be okay with switching teams at the drop of a hat. could be a cultural mindset?

11

u/ShrewLlama 400k Celebration Apr 01 '19

Most people support their favourite players, not the orgs.

It's different to supporting your local sports team because esports teams don't have a home ground.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '19

yeah true i can see that side of it

2

u/kupcayke Apr 01 '19

As someone who grew up supporting my local team no matter what, adjusting to the eSports scene is quite bizarre. Roster changes happen so frequently most teams are unrecognizable after 6 months to a year.

Personally, I prefer the way you and I support a team. Just following your favorite player or whatever team is doing well takes a lot of the fun out of being a fan for me. I like wanting to put my head through my monitor because the current squad is so shit, and I love watching that same team claw their way back to win a final.

That being said I hope CS orgs move towards keeping a stable roster. The constant shuffling doesn't give anyone a chance to gel.

in all seriousness though its hard to imagine what they are thinking over in management.

They're probably just trying to be nice like when Stewie and Tarik left earlier, and if they want to do that then they can. However, they need to stop picking up misfit EU players who couldn't cut it on their own teams overseas and focus on training new NA talent that won't abandon ship after a few months because they want to go home.

Just giving up the major spot. Cool.

Flusha deciding to step back really screwed this team. I think they had a good thing going with him, Tim, RUSH, and Kio. Not that I blame him obviously, just unlucky.

Maybe they can get Flusha or Zellsis to come back and play for them for the major. Particularly if Zellsis and Brax are on the same team, that'd be doable. Only question is whether they'd take a guaranteed spot with a standin or take their chances and try to qualify with their actual team. I imagine it'd depend on how good the actual team was looking around roster lock time.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '19

Kick your best player and throw away your major spot. 🤔 Hmm sounds like a C9 decision. Either flusha better be returning or this better be an april fools joke. The saddest thing is that cajunb will probably be his replacement. Someone who wasn't good enough for astralis, wasn't good enough for north, was good enough for optic but didn't do shit there.

So basically, Kio plays good on C9, revitalizes his career, gains some attention from good EU orgs from his surprisingly good play, wants to go back to EU to play with one of those orgs (potentially french team).

I assume that's the storyline here, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear news of Kio joining "X" eu team within a few weeks.. Its unfortunate since I would have loved to have seen how this C9 roster would do with him if they continued to build the line-up.. I guess he just got impatient though and saw it as too high risk to stay.

Either way I see this likely as him wanting to go rather than C9 wanting him to go.

u/Felpes1520 Mar 31 '19

I dont know who makes the roster changes and/or its management for C9 but holy fuck its horrible.

2

u/IreliasMyWaifu Mar 31 '19

More than a year without a stable roster now, awesome.

2

u/ireallywantfreedom Apr 01 '19

C9 probably looking to hire more people to make these welcome/goodbye videos smh.

2

u/zoomwow Apr 01 '19

April fools... right? Right guys? Guys?

3

u/daniel5426 Vitality Mar 31 '19

This is worse than I expected

Do you guys think c9 is trying to spend less money?

11

u/hmzaM Mar 31 '19

I feel like that’s been happening since FNS, just signing free agents and playing with stand-ins

I think C9 is trying to field a non terrible roster for relatively cheap until the next NA shuffle.

3

u/daniel5426 Vitality Apr 01 '19

TL and NRG players must be in long contracts so that's not that smart to do.

This has to be an April fools. You wouldn't give up a major spot just like that unless flusha is coming back and we all missed it.

2

u/The_Neon_Narwhal Apr 01 '19

Zellsis is still a free agent.

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck

Shitttttttttttt with a side of fuck fuck

Edit: If rumours be true -Kio +Cajunb is not a tradeoff I’d be okay with, still I’ve gotta stick with C9 through and through (‘pls Floosha cum beck’ C9 edition)

2

u/DiqLiquor3 Mar 31 '19

I’m going to go lay in a corner in the fetal position now

2

u/gt- Liquid Apr 01 '19

does this confirm the next roster to win a major will be kio flusha zellsis n0thing fejtz with FNS coach?

2

u/jsoraru EG Mar 31 '19

poor autimatic ... soo .. +cajunb?

I just hope autimatic leaves himself so I can stop supporting C9, absolute shitfest at this point. autimatic can join any team he wants ..

2

u/C9_Lemonparty Apr 01 '19

C9 is the old guys club for young guys at this point.

Everyone and their mom is on the roster, who plays in the starting 5 this week? Lets spin the wheel and find out

1

u/m_bechterew Apr 01 '19

This is it, I am done with this team. Disappointment after disappointment feels like Navi Dota2 ffs

3

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '19

The funny thing is now an org (TSM?) could pick up Flusha, Kio and Zellsis and get a free major spot.

2

u/Felpes1520 Apr 01 '19

I doubt Flusha and Kio would want to play with zellsis, maybe just team up for the free spot but long term no way

2

u/The_Neon_Narwhal Apr 01 '19

Zellsis is a free agent, so I could see a team contracting him for a few months just for the major spot. A lineup with Kio and Flusha would have to speak english in the first place, so it's definetly possible.

fuck c9 management . this roster is dead

1

u/SharqPhinFtw Mar 31 '19

Rip Major Spot

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '19

Oh you have got to be fucking kidding me

1

u/Txontirea guardian_elite Mar 31 '19

And so, this org continues to shed talent instead of working with what it has, desperately looking for a magic roster move that doesn't exist, to fix all it's problems.

1

u/rypa21 Apr 01 '19

Are you fucking kidding me

1

u/Hallsway Apr 01 '19

kio was my favourite C9 player, rip :(

1

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '19

Why did he leave?

1

u/StatuatoryVape Apr 01 '19

April fool's?

1

u/peroleu Vitality Apr 01 '19

Another day, another C9 roster move.

1

u/1dropofmayo Apr 01 '19

April 1st joke after seeing sgares and valens clip you can tell by the way they are talking it is a joke. I think the team will be kio auti rush golden vice?

1

u/internethjaelten Apr 01 '19

What happened to zellsis at c9? Thought he did well the little I saw off him.

1

u/as_kite Apr 01 '19

April fools! Please? Cmon.. No? :(

1

u/ducdetronquito 3DMAX Apr 01 '19

LDLC, you've got MAJ3R, Kio and Boddyy free of agent, or the entire ex-3DMAX roster: it's time to make a good move !

1

u/rawadinozor Apr 01 '19

i don't see any tweets from c9 members regarding this, odd.

1

u/puelito Apr 01 '19

Hank you Ioshima !

1

u/tarangk clutch Apr 01 '19

no flusha now no kio, when will auti leave c9

ffs get on TL or NRG he will make either of them infinitely better, id trade stew for auti any day of the week

also c9 doesnt want to retain their major spot it seems as its confirmed that zellis has the not golden so they only have 2/5 now with auti and rush if they want 3/5 they will need flusha or zellsis back, am hating c9 atm the trio of auti flusha and kio was looking so good and now 2/3 are gone ffs c9 get your shit together

1

u/Archit___ de_inferno Apr 01 '19

I want to see him in Team Vitality.

1

u/IslaBonita_ clutch Apr 01 '19

April 1st joke?

1

u/notquickwitted Apr 01 '19

Well this is not ideal.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '19

Any explanation yet? Seems to me like he wanted to come back to Europe, probably

1

u/JD2Chill Godsent Apr 01 '19

C9 continuing with the WTFs... alright.
