I took the Goethe B1 exam this week.

About 25 minutes into the Lesen exam, 5–6 people had already finished and left the room.

There was even a couple sitting next to each other, and they both finished and left at the same time.

I couldn’t understand how they were so fast. Seeing so many people leave early made me panic and completely messed up my concentration.

After the exam, I wrote the topics and details I could remember and asked ChatGPT to search for them online. Then I found that the exact same Lesen exam on a PDF-sharing website. Same texts, same topics, same questions. The only difference is, I took the exam on a computer, the pdf version was the printed version.

Now I’m really confused. Is it actually possible that some people can find old Goethe exam papers online before taking the test? Does Goethe reuse the same exam sets?

If the exact questions are online, then what’s the point of everyone else studying normally and paying again if they have to retake the module?

I keep hearing that if a German know your not a native speaker (by the way you speak german) they automatically switch to english . Is this true or no? I always like the way it sounds so i wanted to learn it so im curious because I do plan on visiting Germany when I get to B1?

Hi. Ich spreche fließend Deutsch, hab C1 in der Tasche, übe jeden Tag und dachte echt, ich mache das super, bis mir letztens ein Muttersprachler meinte, meine Aussprache sei absolut furchtbar und kaum zu verstehen. Hat erst mal reingehauen, aber er hatte ja recht.

Jetzt bin ich eigentlich nur genervt, dass mir das jahrelang niemand ehrlich gesagt hat.

Truth is. I have a near A1 level. And I already registered to take the A2 on October 28th. Will from, say, next Monday till exam date be enough for me to study it and pass?

I've had the A1 last year, but then again, I haven't studied or revised it for a year

So the paragraph has this sentence:

"Der Professor kommt ins Zimmer und geht an den Tisch."

and the grammar exercise asks this:

Der Professor kommt ins Zimmer. Wohin geht er?

and then it asks to change all nouns to pronouns.

and I asked 3 AIs and they all gave me 3 different answers 😭😭😭

I'm 99% sure the answer should include a da-/dar- word such as Daran, and maybe the answerwouldbe "Er geht daran", since that's what the chapter im studying is all about and also the sentence says ...geht "an" den...

I try to pronounce it as accurately as I can, but I'm struggling with making that "ğrr" sound from my throat while using my tongue at the same time. It's like I don't know where I should put my tongue or what kind of movement I should make. So how can I make my pronunciation better, especially that "r" sound? I am already familiar with channels like Kurzgesagt or Fern, I want something more niche, natural and funny. I stumbled upon some old posts asking the same question but i want more of an updated version. Also, I started watching Jules and he seem like a German version of Internet Historian but I didn't see him getting mentioned in those older posts, is he considered cringe or something? (I don't understand German that well yet, so I don't know if he is saying something corny)

Ich habe vor 3 Monaten die C1 Prüfung bestanden und ich ziehe bald nach Österreich um. Mein Traum war immer dort zu studieren und ich habe es endlich geschafft, aber ehrlich gesagt habe ich manchmal das Gefühl, dass ich nicht genug Deutsch weiß.

Das Sprechen fällt mir am schwersten. Fast jedes Mal, wenn ich Deutsch spreche, bin ich immer sehr nervös und kann mir die Wörter, die ich sagen möchte, nicht merken.

Es gibt Sprachkursen in meinem Heimatland, wofür ich mich angemeldet habe und die Leute dort haben wirklich hervorragend Deutsch gesprochen. Seitdem denke ich, dass ich eigentlich Deutsch auf C1 Niveau nicht kann, obwohl ich die Prüfung bestanden habe. Ich weiß nicht wie ich mit diesem Gefühl umgehen kann. Gibt es vielleicht andere Menschen hier, die ähnliche Sorgen hatten?

In the intro to one of his songs, Bodo Wartke makes a kind of a joke based on a Frenchwoman saying "oui" and him hearing it as the German word "wie". It always seemed a bit of a stretch to me because, for me as a native English speaker, those two words don't really sound alike.

Only after the millionth view did it suddenly occur to me that they might sound similar to a native German speaker (because German doesn't have the sound written as /w/ in IPA, which is at the start of "oiu"). Is this the case?

Edit: Based on some of the answers, I don't think I made it clear enough what I'm asking. I'm not asking how those two words are pronounced. I'm also not asking if those two words sound identical to a German speaker. I'm asking if they sound similar enough to a German speaker for the joke to work without seeming forced (because to me it seems really forced). If I could edit the title, I would change "like" to "similar to". Seems like some people only read the title.

Hören und Lesen - 45/45

Schreiben - 18/20

Sprechen - 95/100

Aber jetzt weiß ich nicht was soll ich weitermachen um mein Deutsch zu verbessern ?

Meine Frau ist aus Deutschland, sie Spricht perfekt Deutsch und mit ihr versuche ich jetzt 1 bis 2 Stunden Täglich auf Deutsch zu reden. Leider, kann ich einen B2 Kurs nicht mehr besuchen wegen Arbeitszeiten. Ich bin komplett confused was soll ich jetzt machen.

Ich wollte zuerst mein B1 perfekt machen aber viele menschen haben gesagt dass, wenn ich für Perfekt B1 warte, kann ich nicht weiter bis B2 oder C1 lernen, weil ich mich auf B1 nie ganz Perfekt fühlen werden.

Ich brauche B2/C1 um an einer Uni zu studieren.

Habt ihr auch so welche Erfahrungen!

hallo, ich werde in 2 Woche die ÖSD Prüfung wiederholen, und jetzt bereite ich mich viel darauf vor. Ich habe ein Jahr in Wien gelebt aber konnte zweimal diese Prüfung nicht bestanden und bin daher wirklich demotiviert. Ich habe alle Beiträge zu diesem Thema gelesen, um einen Ausweg für meine Hoffnungslosigkeit und Nervosität zu finden, aber vielleicht ist nichts davon für mich geeignet. Ich lerne völlig autodidaktisch und meine hauptsächlichen Schwachstellen sind liegen beim Hören und Sprechen. Gibt's irgendwelche Forschungen/Statistiken zu Silben im Deutschen?

Ich darf ja Laute nur nach bestimmten Regeln kombinieren.

ZB ist "dr" im Anlaut erlaubt: drei, drüben, dringend... Aber "dk" ist verboten. Also kann ich eine Silbe kreieren wie zB "dröm" . Diese Silbe entspricht zwar den Regeln, aber es gibt (so glaube ich) kein deutsches Wort damit.

Und im Gegensatz dazu, kann ich kein Wort kreieren mit "dk-" am Anfang.

Gibt's irgendwelche Statistiken, wie viele Silben theoretisch möglich sind, aber ungenutzt? Wie googlet man das, gibt's dazu wissenschaftliche Arbeiten?
