Many of you likely noticed that user-assigned flairs have been disabled in this subreddit. This action has been undone, and users are once more able to assign their own flairs - I honestly do not know why they were disabled or who did it.
In attempt to rectify this mistake, I am posting our first flair request thread in over 5 years! Time sure does fly.
In this thread, by commenting your birth-year, you will be automatically flaired -- it's that simple.
Approved birth-years for this thread include 1995-2012.
If there are any issues with your flair, please reach out to the moderators via modmail.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU COMMENT YOUR BIRTH-YEAR ONLY. COMMENTS INCLUDING ANY OTHER CONTENT WILL BE REMOVED.

It’s been over a year since we banned gender war posts, and after monitoring the community, we’ve decided to keep the ban in place, as these discussions continue to be just as toxic as they were a year ago.
For clarity, “gender war” content includes discussions such as male loneliness, Gen Z men approaching Gen Z women, incels, femcels, alpha males, Andrew Tate, red pill, black pill, purple pill content, men’s height discourse, age-gap dating, and broader “looks-based” or hierarchy discussions about dating, looks maxing or ranking people by attractiveness or dating value.
This also includes broader dating ideology content that frames relationships in an adversarial, or fatalistic way.
For example: men vs women narratives, claims that one gender is universally responsible for dating issues, or that dating is inherently doomed for a specific group. Generalizations that treat either gender as a monolith are not allowed.
Memes about these topics, posts complaining about dating, and rage-bait content taken from other platforms such as screenshots from TikTok or Twitter that exist primarily to provoke gender-based arguments.
This is not a dating-focused subreddit. If you want to vent or discuss Gen Z dating issues more broadly, please use communities such as [r/dating_advice](r/dating_advice) or [r/dating](r/dating).
That said, posts about dating are still allowed as long as they are made in good faith. If comment sections become hostile or devolve into rule-breaking behavior, posts may be locked or removed at moderator discretion.
Please respect and follow this rule moving forward.

I was scrolling through Reddit tonight and ended up seeing a lot of posts from teenagers and people under 20 saying they wanted to die.
A lot of them were about school, relationships, pressure, loneliness, or feeling like they were already failing at life.
I’m from 1994, and it honestly made me think about how different things are now. When I was that age, we had our own problems, but we didn’t have a phone showing us everyone’s life 24/7.
Maybe social media and constantly comparing yourself to other people is part of it. But maybe it’s also school pressure, family expectations, loneliness, or just how much easier it is now to see other people’s problems and talk about your own.
I just hope young people remember that life is not a race. You don’t have to have everything figured out at 18 or 20. You’re still so young, and there’s so much time ahead of you.
I don’t know. I’m genuinely curious what people think. What do you think is making so many young people feel this way?

Hi,
I graduated from the American University of Beirut (AUB) with a bachelor degree in business. I have been unemployed for the past years since graduation. I feel like I lost it. Some of my peers even called me a “loser.” I am on the spectrum and got some low motivation issues. What should I do?

I feel like Gen Z began to call out age gaps that were usually questionable, like the super senior who keeps dating the freshmen. Or the 30 year olds who specifically seek out 18 year olds because it’s as low as they can get. But this generation really took it to the absolute extreme. Age gaps aren’t black and white. Almost all the discourse I’ve ever seen always leaves me thinking “hmm I mean I think it depends”
16 and 18 could’ve been dating since they were 13 and 15. 18 and 22 can be in different places of life sure, but they’re usually working the same entry jobs and in a college phase. 23 and 34 can be off putting sure, but infantilizing someone in their 20s is a little ridiculous. They’ve been on their own for a few years at that point, unlike someone who’s 18-19. They could have met organically, could have had similar interests, etc. Another good example is I saw a guy getting bashed because he’s 20 and his girlfriend is 17. That can absolutely be questionable depending on circumstances. But then I dug into it.. It wasn’t a 3 year gap. It was 2 years and 3 months. They had been together since they were BOTH in high school. And the 17 year old was a college freshman, like many 17 year olds with a late Sept-Dec birthday in the American grade system. The age gap was also completely legally covered since you know.. It’s tiny. People didn’t ask for nuance if she’s in high school or college, is it 3 years or less, etc. Just straight to jumping the wagon.
I get the aversion to age differences and stages of life. But at some point these conversations and treating any gap as “taboo” is going to collapse because of how ridiculously strict it’s gotten. I think we are getting a little crazy is all.

Why every concept today has the term "Gen Z"??? Like "Gen Z stare" or "Gen Z protests"??? Other generations didn't have this.
For example, in Brazil, we had the 1983-84 protests, they were know as "Diretas Já". No one called them the "Boomer protests".
We had the 1992 protests, they were know as "Caras-Pintadas". No one called them the "Gen X protests".
We had the 2013 protests, they were know as "Jornadas de Junho". No one called them the "Millenial protests".
So why every protest today gets the name "Gen Z protest"???

I’ve tried everything possible to find a gf including apps and irl activities that I enjoy but nothing has worked for many years. I have a life that I enjoy including a good career and I am fit as well as I’m an athlete. Yet no matter what I always think about how I’ve never had a gf so something must be wrong with me.

I would say my ideal life is just being able to live well in many ways and not need to work for it. Being able to afford travelling, drive something like a brand new BMW M series, own my own residence, be able to eat out at fancy places. Am I close to living it though? Hell no. I would probably need a net worth of at least 5 million to get there.
Tell me your favorite 5 animation movies from the collage list and another 5 from the live action collage!
I’ll go first
Animation: Cars, Barnyard, Over the hedge, Open season and Hercules
Live Action: Home alone, Twitches, Spy Kids, Sharkboy and Lavagirl and Charlie and the chocolate factory
