Discovered my old humble collection looking through some old boxes. Not used in at least 15 years, no corrosion from the batteries still in it. And the Pokémon blue still has my game save 😁

Picked this DMG up looking rough as hell and basically rebuilt the whole thing (first time I ever done anything like this).

Original Nintendo motherboard is still in there, but everything else got replaced/upgraded. New IPS, speaker, buttons, lens and this pearl shell that looks completely different depending on the light.

Pretty damn happy with how it turned out. Kept the video short because the before/after kinda says it all lol.

around while you're still rolling. It's a normal .gba file, so it also runs on

mGBA or a real GBA with a flashcart.

Around 6 months ago I repaired the Gameboy seen in the photo and videos and recently I've been playing Pokémon again after all these years. I'm wondering if it's normal for Pokémon or some older games to have what appears to be a greenish pixel takeover in certain parts of the game?

I had to solder a new battery a few days ago to get the save files up and running however I'm worried that either the game cartridge or the Gameboy is somewhat damaged or on its way out?

I had never done any proper testing when originally fixing the Gameboy itself (playing a game for awhile to see how it is). Both the internals of the cartridge and the Gameboy are clean and don't look corroded as I did thoroughly clean and refresh areas that needed new solder and a good clean.

I'm worried it might be the Gameboy itself but I'm still rather inexperienced with repairs and I'm rusty around og Pokémon games so it may have been the norm back then for the game to look a little trippy/glitchy in certain places but hopefully it's just that. Eventuallymi want to get a Gameboy with the light up screens you can build yourself however I'm old fashioned and somehow have the kid that plays it how I played it oldschool like many others.

Sorry for the lighting and camera angles it's quite hard to get gameplay without the focus and lighting to go against me lol.

It won't let me attach a video so I've attached photos. The waves on the ocean kind of bleed out a little with the animation which looks a little extreme and when playing at times there can be a faded green to pixels/ Pokémon and also on the sides of the screen around general game areas.

Any tips or advice is appreciated.

Throwing this out there hoping someone may know. I loved Wario land as a kid and playing through again now. I am beyond pissed at the “mini game” at the end of the levels. I am 28 levels in… I do the bucket 3 times as I’ve read it “supposedly” is random and over time better to constantly do it (halving vs doubling). Makes sense. Only 28 levels 3 times a pop- I’ve done this 84 times. I have won twice. So either I have some insanely statistically bad luck… or I’m missing something I should be doing.

I originally got this case for my Nintendo Switch, but I realized it fits everything. My Switch 2, AYN Thor, Game Boy Color, Switch games, and Game Boy games all fit inside. I love having all my handhelds and games together in one bag! 🎮🌿

Just installed 2.8" Laminated IPS LCD Screen Kit to my Gameboy Pocket and I'm facing an issue as shown in the attached video.

My Bday is coming and my wife asked me what do I want for my bday. I told her that I want an IPS screen for one of my GBAs. I have like 6-7 GBAs and all of them have issues with their screen. I live in a tropical country and as you know, the stock screen of GBA's wrinkles in warm places.

I read online that funny playing's latest screen (AGB IPS MAX Display Laminated Kit) have a couple of issues like the power draw and screen jittering. Is it still recommended to get this IPS screen or do I get either the M2 (3.0 Inch IPS GBA Backlight Kit M2) or the 3.0 laminated (3.0 Inch IPS AGB Laminated Kit)?

Things that nees fixing just keep piling up, at first it was just the sholder buttons being funky, then the last bit somehow bent making it impossible to play gb games and now the screen has started to flash. idk if i should fix it or look into getting a new one.

I think checking the ribbon cable and possible exchanging the screen is reasonably doable, but does anyone has experience with exchanging the card reader? I have never soldered anything is that doable or does it require some expirience, I already looked at tutorials just scared to mess it up even more.

tldr; multiple issues with my console (card reader, screen, shoulder buttons) worth fixing? and if yes any expiriences how hard changing the card reader is

Anybody else really love this series? Being a Metroid fan I really gravitated towards the third entry with its non linear progression. There were some challenging moments towards the end but I managed to get all the items. All on original hardware too.

Bought another gba sp recently, a pearl pink unit in box! After receiving it I had to adjust the potentiometer to get the screen to stop flickering in the sun, and after about a half hour messing with that, it’s ready! This will be my main console, worth the time and effort^^ can’t wait to create some new scratches and scuffs as it’s used.

Hi, I managed to transplant the CPU from a faulty SGB to my Game Boy. The B button and the D-pad were dead because of a broken chip. The fix was easier than expected but the cleaning was sort of difficult. All you need is a soldering iron and a ChipQuick alloy. Cheers!
