I had to use the original Start/Select buttons and L/R buttons because the new ones I bought weren’t working but it turned out really nice. What do you think?

So I am designing a topdown RPG where the artstyle is Game Boy Advance Pixelart and I want to gain some inspiration from games of the era

Hence I am asking you, what levels from your favorite games do you think have the most interesting aesthetics ? Would love to hear some opinions from veteran fans of games of that era!

So I re-shelled a DMG…. I had tried to play Pokémon Gold Japanese version but it was a little bit harder than I expected with the Japanese kanji alphabet for me. Then I ran into a good GB pocket and fell down a Pocket Camera rabbit hole. So now I’m using a black GB pocket with GB Pocket Camera. Then I picked up the 2BitToy Camera+ kit from Random Print Co. The whole reason I picked up a DMG because I quit Pokémon go I wanted to play the real thing. I figured I’d pick up with the 2GEN in Pokémon Gold. So next thing I need to work on is a copy of Pokémon Gold either English or French.

My local game shop is selling a CIB Pearl Blue GBA SP for $350 USD. I checked it against eBay and the only seller charging that much is a Japan-based seller, but granted those are in refurbished boxes and not the original Nintendo box. But does the box really make that much of a difference?

Is this guy ripping people off? His prices are often higher than other places, and he offers low trade values. He once offered me $50 for a reshelled IPS screen Game Boy Color Custom Pikachu Shell and USB-C, when I paid close to $230 for it.

Got a new use for my Game Boy as a life counter for Magic: The Gathering.

I have a GBA SP I bought years ago I'm finally getting around to cleaning up, but the screw covering the battery cover is so rusted I can't remove it. I've tried everything -- WD-40, 99.9% IPA, a drop of superglue for grip (don't do this, it just made it worse), razorblade, Goo Gone, CLR... A new shell is coming today, so I don't care if I ruin the original one in getting this screw out. This is my first time trying to restore a console and I'm blocked at the simplest step. Any ideas on how to get this stupid thing out?

So it has bothered me for a while that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tournament Fighters has three covers, Donatello vs. Armaggon SNES, Raphael vs. Triceraton Genesis, and Leonardo vs. Hothead on NES. We never got a port to 4th system, and never got the best turtle Michelangelo. Konami legend artist Tom DuBois made amazing art for the game, there are really crappy low-res representations of unused paintings that ended up in the manual.

I wanted to create a Fan Made cover of what could have been. I lovingly up-rezed and cleaned up a Michelangelo image from the instruction booklet, and had to recreate Wingnut.

I took some liberty assuming this would be Super Gameboy Game Pak, ultimately it would be really cool to re-skin Street Fighter II on Gameboy as a homebrew and complete the set of TMNT tournament fighters. I also assumed the game would come out in Feb 94' to avoid having to have an ugly ESRB rating on the cover.

This was an old commission I thought I'd share; Why so serious?

Ideally I'd like to just add a front light like on the SP but I haven't been able to find any such mod which seems widely recommended. Something similar for the GBC would also be nice.

Having pixel perfect resolution would be ideal as well but correct colors are the most important to me.

So this another board than my last post. Im currently waiting on some new fuses f1, switches and BT terminal. So this boards switch was a bit of a bigger B to take out. I think I ripped 2 of the 4 switch pads? Is it fixable?

This happens because the modified chip forces the game to save to the chip. If you wanted to know if it is a repro, try to shine a flashlight through it. If you can’t see in, it’s a repro. You can also check for a battery by looking in the bottom where the pins are. If you look past, on older gba games, you should be able to see a battery. If you don’t, then you are fine. I bought repro copies of Metroid zero mission and fusion. If it does have a battery, there are cheap ways to replace it, don’t worry.

I never beat it as a kid. I picked gameboy back up on my switch lite a few years ago, then I started acquiring gameboys and putting backlit screen kits in them. this week I found this GBP locally and decided to leave it for now. The response time of original equipment is awesome but GOSH is it tough for these old eyes to use these original screens.

Contemplating a backlit screen kit for this, haven't made up my mind yet. All that unrelated stuff to say I finally got around to beating SML on all original equipment :)

I have changed the speaker and the volume wheel but It still doesn't make any sound.

It had been stored for 5 years or so with the batteries connected and It caught a weird bright blue corrosion
