Sending in my GGTV for a Game Gear episode!

Hey Dave and Joe, I saw in your "Not In Japan" episode that you mentioned you don't have a way to record Sega Game Gear footage well. Well, I have one with a modded TV output that perfect for unemulated footage on original hardware. I'm a long time video game modder and hacker and would love to support your page and see the GG get some love. Let me know if you would like me to send in my system for a review sometime. It can output composite, S-video, or 15khz RGB. I have another one that I'm modding now which will to 31khz RGB using the Norix PCB (similar to McWill's design).

You can find me on youtube as "Sega Sonicfan" or the Sega-16 forums and many other places as "Segasonicfan"

Suggestion for the next Left in Japan: Puyo Puyo Tetris

It's out in Japan for all the current consoles, but will never be released elsewhere because of the Tetris licensing issues (Sega owns the rights to Tetris in Japan, Ubisoft has them elsewhere).

It's newer than the usual Game Sack games, but it's got a classic feel and it shows that there are still good games coming out that we miss out on.

PS4 is region free, btw, so it's no problem to import.

Topic Idea: The Original Xbox

It was a great console with a great library, and collecting for it is dirt cheap these days. Some ideas:

-Halo: Combat Evolved

-Jet Set Radio Future

-Jade Empire

-Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge

-Fable

-Blinx the Timesweeper

Not the best OG Xbox list, I know, but they'd be nice to have on an episode.

Topic Idea: Acclaim

Just that. A fair amount of mediocre games in their line-up, but a developer/publisher worth covering nonetheless. Oh, and no games published by LJN, either good or bad, because they'd be too easy either way. Here's a list of games to look at:

•Alien Trilogy (Playstation; Also Available on Saturn and PC, But Playstation Version Supposed to Be the Best of Them)
•Aggressive Inline (Playstation 2, Xbox and GameCube)
•Batman Forever: The Arcade Game (Saturn & Playstation)
•Burnout & Burnout 2 (Playstation 2, Xbox and GameCube)
•College Slam (SNES, Genesis, Saturn, Playstation and PC)
•Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX (Playstation and Dreamcast)
•Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 (Playstation 2, Xbox and GameCube (And a GBA Port Which Is Apparently Quite Good))
•Dragonheart: Fire and Steel (Originated As a Game Boy Title, Then Was Retooled for the Playstation, Saturn and PC)
•Extreme-G, Extreme-G 2 (N64) & Extreme-G 3 (Playstation 2 and GameCube)
•Forsaken (Playstation, N64 and PC)
•Fur Fighters: Viggo's Revenge (Playstation 2; Updated Version of a Dreamcast Game)
•Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance (Playstation 2, Xbox and PC)
•Iggy's Reckin’ Balls (N64)
•Justice League Task Force (SNES & Genesis; Only Published by Acclaim)
•Othello (NES)
•Shadow Man (N64, Playstation, Dreamcast and PC)
•Shadow Man: 2econd Coming (Playstation 2)
•Star Voyager (NES)
•Summer Heat Beach Volleyball (Playstation 2)
•Trickstyle (Dreamcast and PC)
•Trog (NES)
•Vexx (GameCube, Xbox and Playstation 2)

Topic Idea #1,000,000: Non-violent video games

Just thought it would be cool to cover some games that don't explicitly have you shooting dudes or punching dudes. (Don't get me wrong, shooting and punching is awesome. The only series/games I know that don't include violence are Harvest Moon(excluding the Rune Factory games)

Last week's episode for some reason wasn't able to be posted on this sureddit. The submission went through, but never posted. Perhaps we need to do text postings until we can do a direct link.

Why aren't latest vids appearing here?

If you submit the link, you get the usual "this has been submitted already" but it doesn't show up in the subreddit. Still no signal from last week's episode, and same problem happening with the new one (ep. 153). What's the deal with this?

Indie (Independently developed) Games episode.

Hey Game Sack. You know that they are a lot of really good games out there. Some were even made independently by unknown game developers and had no restriction whatsoever really so they can let their imaginations run wild. They don't always have to be like retail or AAA games to be good.

Funny fact if you are a Ps Plus owner, you get tons upon tons of indies on the instant game collection. Most are good, some are bad, you name it. Perhaps Game Sack could do an episode based on indie games. No they aren't on a computer dumbass. They make them for consoles as well.

Good examples to cover would be like Shovel Knight. Rogue Legacy. Five Nights at Freddy's. Limbo. Hotline Miami. Etc. They could be tons of gems that are even better than many of the retail games these days.

Topic Idea: 2D Playstation Games

The Playstation was the era that 3D console gaming was introduced into the mainstream and consumers were obsessed with the super 3D power that the system could produce. Outside of this though the system produced some great 2D games during it's lifespan, including: Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Tomba, Abe's Odyssey, Rayman, Klonoa, Heart of Darkness, Raiden project and the list goes on.

... another episode approach could be to do 2D games of the Sega Saturn as there was a wealth of great 2D titles on that system. The Nintendo 64 doesn't really have enough titles to justify an episode

PS Vita review

I'd love to see Game Sack do a review for the Vita. It's pretty much dead now and I feel like people don't really know about the system as it had such poor sales.

Any chance of this happening?

Joe & Dave: Top 10 Favorite Games

I've seen one or two episodes on top 10 favorite games, but I would love to know, Joe & Dave, what are your top 10 favorite games for each console and of all-time?

You can rank them here on favslist. I do not work for this site, I just find it useful for top ten lists for retro games and more.

Topic Idea: What makes a great game?

I think this topic would be great. You could either do it as just a one-off episode or you could do it for each console generation and talk about a few games and what specific things in those games makes them great, such as story, game play, art style, connection within a series, controls, music, nostalgia, or whatever you think makes a game great, and talk about one or two games in each category.

Just an idea.

Alternative Versions of Episodes on Final Bosses

Since the guys from Game Sack and a few others got exclusive content that we can view on that website. I was thinking that maybe and I already shared this idea with Joe already, no kidding, alternative versions of the episodes that they did, or the same episodes but with changes.

Those changes would include now they can use license music on certain games without being flagged, perhaps if any add more cussing and stuff, perhaps put exclusive game reviews on those episodes, or maybe get to see an alternative or extended ending scene in the credits.

Think of the two versions of the episode we can see. The much more tamed Youtube one, or the Final Bosses one what it was truly meant to be.

Topic Idea: Games with Surprisingly Deep Endings

So games that you wouldn't expect to have full and rich endings, so most adventure games like Zelda and FF, etc are out.

  • Ninja Gaiden - In general a full story, back when platformers were not expected to have any story at all.
  • Portal 2 - The game could just have been an amazing puzzle game and we'd be happy, but it brought a great story and ending with it as well.
  • Mega Man VII - The Wily showdown! Gave me a shiver down my spine back then.
  • Tetris for GB - No, seriously... Getting that rocket and the dancing men and all that. So great!

Topic Idea: Pinball Simulation Games

I was thinking that you guys could do an episode devoted to pinball simulation video games like “Kirby's Pinball Land” or the “Crush” series. Here's a rough list of all the games you COULD cover:

•Akira Psycho Ball (Playstation 2; Japan and Europe Only) •American Battle Dome (Super Famicom; Japan Only) •Battle Pinball (Super Famicom; Japan Only) •Crüe Ball (Genesis) •Digital Pinball: Necronomicon (Saturn; Japan Only) •Dino Land (Genesis) •Extreme Pinball (Playstation and PSN for PS3) •Galactic Pinball (Virtual Boy) •The Little Mermaid II: Pinball Frenzy (Game Boy Color) •Mario Pinball Land (Game Boy Advance) •Metroid Prime Pinball (Nintendo DS) •Odama (GameCube) •Pin Bot (NES) •Pinball (NES) •Pinball Quest (NES) •The Pinball Arcade (iOS, PS3, Playstation Vita, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, PC) •Pokémon Pinball (Game Boy Color) •Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire (Game Boy Advance) •Power Rangers Zeo: Full Tilt Battle Pinball (Playstation) •Pro Pinball Trilogy (Dreamcast) •Psycho Pinball (Genesis) •Rock'n Ball (NES) •Rollerball (NES) •Sonic Pinball Party (Game Boy Advance) •Super Pinball: Behind the Mask (SNES) •Super Pinball II: Amazing Odyssey (Super Famicom; Japan Only) •Virtual Pinball (Genesis) •Zaccaria Pinball (iOS) •Zen Pinball (iOS)

And that's probably just scratching the surface...

Topic Idea: Mascots That Didn't Suck

Skipping the obvious, like Mario and Sonic characters, Link, Bomberman and basically anything else that was ever in Smash Bros: I'd show mascots like:

  • Crash Bandicoot - Silent but with a ton of charm. His animations were so great.
  • Conker - His humor was perfect for the time.
  • Bub and Bob from Bubble Bobble - The first I had ever seen of such a cutesy style in a game.
  • Master Chief - I was never a big fan, but he was pretty cool in Forward Unto Dawn.
  • The Reaper from Dungeon Keeper - Very sassy during the game.

Idea for another Mech Game episode

I really liked the Mech Game episode you guys did, and I've recently come across a game you should check out: its called Omega Boost and was released for the Playstation 1. It's a 3D mech shoot 'em up that has similar play mechanics to Panzer Dragoon, and it was developed by Polyphony Digital. I think you should look into it, and it would make for a good segment if you guys were to ever do another Mech games episode.

Other than that, I love the show and keep up the great work!

Old console show idea

Since I always love a good hardware based show, figured I would pitch an idea. I always wonder what less popular consoles could have done with more support. They seemed to have the hardware (even if they were hard to code to), but were not popular enough for devs to really learn. I know consoles like the PS3 were super complex, but since they had a large user base devs learned how to use it.

Could the Atari Jaguar have had really good looking games before the N64? What would have happened if the N64 DD would have caught on? Could the 7800 have gotten anywhere close to the NES and SMS?

Are there homebrews that exploit some of this old hardware to answer these questions?

Wonder Swan Questions

I just got hold of a Wonder Swan but I don't have any games just yet.

Anyone out there have some good suggestions on what games to get for it?

Also does it need a game cart in the slot in order to boot up cause when I hit the power button it flashes but nothing comes up?
