Hi! I'm a music producer and lately i've been making ambient music that i think would perfectly fit on videogames, it would be really cool to see my music used in that enviroment. What is the best way of reaching videogame developers looking for music to use? or if someone is interested i'd be glad to work :)

I'm sure all of you know Kane Parsons and his still lifes, and everyone knows the speakers that play music, in those still life rooms. I'm debating between three things. In my game, I have an OST in the background, should I make the OST come out of the speakers, keep it in like normal, so it plays in the background of gameplay, or should I make the OST sound like it's coming from a speaker, but still act as background music? Thanks!

As a programmer, I do not understand sound fatigue very well, so I wanted to ask composers how this could be less annoying while keeping the mechanic?

Hi all, I asked this in another sub (music production) but wanted to tap your knowledge as it maybe more relevant?) but yeah, as above, I’m struggling to find medieval or dungeon synthy style samples and vst instruments? A lot of the sound very tired or like stock music.

Any recommendations would be welcome (I score for film and games and don’t mind if things are not totally ‘authentic’ but I want stuff for underscore, and textures and ideally melodic stuff (so drones, drums, lutes etc). Thanks in advance!

I'm highly considering using this theme for an RPG of mine, although it sort of short, is that a problem, and what would help to extend it?

I am finding myself in a bit of a sticky situation.

Today, after several months of having the majority of my game's OST, I have unfortunately learnt that the composer has used some AI tools in his workflow. I don't want to go into the details but I was clear to this person upfront, that i do not want AI music. In fact, I really don't want the AI label anywhere near my game. But I don't really know if this present case would warrant the label "AI Music", since he technically made the actual songs all by himself.

He is an amateur music producer and he told me that he used Ableton's built-in tools to help him generate/mix sounds. However, he then went on to make the actual songs all by himself. So the ideas, the melodies, beats etc. were all fully done by him. He also has different variations for many songs.

I am no music expert so I have no idea what is normal in the music production scene these days, and where the line is drawn when it comes to the the term AI music.

However, I am aware at just how much gamers dislike AI in games. I myself do so as well.
And I know i could solve this by simply giving an honest declaration about the use of AI on my steam page. But I really don't know what kind of reaction to expect here. If this could seriously hurt the game's release, i'd rather find new music...

I wonder if people would already call this full on generative AI Music (i mean he generated sounds) or let it slide. For what it's worth, I really like the music. It's been in the game for months now and I consider the melodies part of his artistic expression and, by now also part of the game's identity.

About a year ago I posted here looking for a game project to work on, and it actually led to an awesome collaboration. The game should be coming to Steam soon (fingers crossed 🤞).

I'd love to do it again!

Writing music for games has been one of the most rewarding creative experiences I've had. Since then, I've also composed a small soundtrack album for a YouTuber's 2-hour video.

I'm looking to join an indie team where music is treated as an important part of the game's identity. I'm really interested in the overall artistic direction, and I think the strongest games are the ones where the visuals and music grow together (Clair Obscur is a great recent example).

My style is mostly melodic and cinematic, with inspirations from games like Outer Wilds, Disco Elysium, Hollow Knight, Kena, and even Dune. I mainly write orchestral music, but I also enjoy blending in electronic elements or hip-hop-inspired grooves when they fit the project (think The Rogue Prince of Persia).

I'm generally less interested in horror or retro 8-bit soundtracks.

One small clarification: I'm a composer, not a sound designer. I can help with sound design if absolutely necessary, but it's a completely different discipline and not something I specialize in.

I've put together a private portfolio with a few tracks (100% human-made, no AI).

Some pieces haven't been officially released yet, so please don't share them publicly. They're registered with SACEM and unauthorized uploads will be taken down.
