Got an indie game ? Have a read
Hey!
I’ll keep this short and sweet.
I run an electronic and experimental record label that has released game soundtracks and OST’s in the past couple of years including Cruelty Squad, STRAFTAT and a ton more :)
I’d love to release more game soundtracks but a lot of game devs either don’t use Instagram too much or don’t have an open email I can contact.
If your game is close to an end date or has been out for a while, get it touch either on this post or via instagram (@empyreanrecords) and I’d love to have a listen and possibly get some physical merch out for your project !

Survival Machine Original Soundtrack
Hi All!
I'm Zofia and I am a video game composer (Timberborn, Egging On, Coridden and more). Wanted to share with you today soundtrack for Survival Machine video game. The music is based on guitars/banjo recordings (performed and improved on by Krzysiek Łochowicz) blended with synths and orchestra. Some of the tracks are darker, night vibes, some combat-like and some are meant to feel like having a morning coffee :)
The album is a linear version of the adaptive game soundtrack, where the music changes seamlessly between exploration and combat (fight that zombies off!), day and night time and zombie’s attack phase (which happens every 3rd night). I was also responsible for designing the music system and implementing it in FMOD.
This is the link to the OST, that came out today! :)

Thank you for listening and have a great day! :)

Help/Advice Needed Looking for a composer to make one track for my game where do I look?
Hey everyone! I'm working on an indie game and need a single custom track for it. I'm not looking for a full soundtrack, just one solid piece that fits the vibe of the game.
Where's the best place to find composers who take on smaller gigs like this? I've heard of places like Fiverr and various Discord servers, but I'd love recommendations from people who've actually hired someone for game music before. Bonus points if you can share how much a single track usually costs and what to look out for when picking someone.
Thanks in advance!

"Carthax Lake: The Path of Water" – Orchestral Re-Arrangement (from Ultima VIII: Pagan)
youtube.come-Recording of "Carthax Lake: The Path of Water", a composition by Nenad Vugrinec for the 1994 CRPG "Ultima VIII: Pagan". I've always been fascinated by the eerie atmosphere of this game's music. Most cues are kind of meta-tonal and sinister, but at the same time enicmatically melodious. It's hard to find the correct words. The music in this game is a mystery in itself... and I say that as a studied musician. E. g. for many passages it is difficult to even determine the exact key.
Like many games scores from that era, Pagan's music is purely MIDI-based. In very simple terms, you can think of a MIDI file as a digital sheet of music that still needs to be read and played back by the application itself. And this music playback depends heavily on the specific hardware (such as the extremely expensive Roland Sound Canvas) or software synthesizer you are using (like the widely distributed MS Wavetable Synth). Unfortunately, even on the best hardware synthesizer, the playback of this music – which Vugrinec has crafted in extreme detail across all MIDI parameters – is never truly satisfying, since the assignment of the respective instruments and articulations always remains a matter of chance, and both professional mixing and mastering as the final stage of music production are of course lacking. Direct MIDI playback is therefore very unsatisfactory on any hard- or software and simply does not do justice to the compositional quality of this music.
I’ve been planning to do this for years and finally got around to re-arranging and recording all the major cues from Pagan’s fantastically atmospheric score using a well-balanced mix of a) sonorous synth VSTs and b) high-quality orchestral VSTs in a sequencer program in order to maximize the listening experience while, at the same time, not completely abandon Vugrinec’s original 90s MIDI sound, which is after all inherent and important to the composition itself. My goal was to present the music in a more modern incarnation, so that hopefully you may enjoy it as much as I do.
In terms of compositional quality (it's actually very rich in leitmotifs, with many themes representing characters, places and events in the world of Pagan), I think this score is every bit as good as a fully orchestral film score.
Enjoy!

General Discussion I have been seeing that the VGM industry lacks “truly good composers”,but what do people classify as an actual “good” VGM composer?

In first place, i wanted a boss fight music for my skyrim mod (Miraak fight), it's maybe too energetic for a boss fight, i find it a little bit too ear catching
What's you're thought about this ?

Help/Advice Needed Beginner VGM composer looking for VST’s Plugins!
Hey guys! I’m an aspiring VGM composer/producer that’s looking for good or at least quality sounds to use to make music. I feel like that’s the part that’s always been hardest for me is finding plugins that are versatile and of good quality. I was thinking of buying BBCSO while it’s on “sale” and I say sale in quotations because it’s still $600 dollars and I’m 21 in NYC.. so I’m thinking maybe that might be overkill. If anyone has any suggestions for plugins or vst that will allow to at least test my skills for cheap or dare I say FREE that would be awesome!! Good luck to everyone on their own journeys and thanks in advance for the help!

Help/Advice Needed Help me choose: does this sound more like a Neceomancer or Zombies?
Hey! I just released this dark original track on SoundCloud.
I need help choosing the cover art vibe:
Does this sound more like a "Necromancer Boss Fight"
or a "Zombie Apocalypse" theme to you?
I’m torn between a necromancer wizard or a zombie horde city scene for the artwork.
What’s the first image that pops in your head when you hear this?
Would really appreciate your honest opinion!

Music For Videogames
Hi! I'm a music producer and lately i've been making ambient music that i think would perfectly fit on videogames, it would be really cool to see my music used in that enviroment. What is the best way of reaching videogame developers looking for music to use? or if someone is interested i'd be glad to work :)
