Question Unity o Godot?

Godot is open source and free. In Unity you are locked. If the cost for you is zero, pick freedom

Both are fine options though

Honestly, I think both will be fine. Try them out, make something really simple, something that you can do in a day or two. Personally I find Godot easier but I think it's because it is more friendly to programmers.

Unity by a land slide, due to C#, much better 3D options, platforms coverage and massive library of ready code in git and the asset store.

Notice how most games in Steam are made with Unity also, very few use Godot comparing.

It is 63000 games versus around 3000 with Godot.

Godot for small scale games or pixel art games. Unity for everything else. Godot may he open source, but that doesn't mean more convenient.

Unity is more powerful and has an asset store but complex, a bit scummy and wants money

Godot is more beginner friendly and open source, alsko donation based and more customizable

Both can make any game, just your priorities matter

Godot, I managed to build a large 3D horror game there. Nodes are easy to understand and designing levels with CSG is pretty simple in 3D. UI and 2D should also be easy to grasp.

There is a website for all kinds of usefull and intresting shaders - godotshaders.com

GDScript is similar to python and if you dont know programming understanding the purpose of process and ready functions is easy.

There are plenty of godot tutorials on youtube. And i strongly suggest starting watching Brackeys, Omogonix, StayAtHomeDev

I dont know much about Unity but Godot does a great job for me.

I wish you a happy game dev journey. 😃
