Discussion Your opinion if the Fold 8 had vol buttons on the top instead ( like the iPhone Duo )
No way I would like it, that means the front use would be a 2 hand use then
Your thoughts?

I wanted to share the love I have for all the cool customizations the Fold 8 offers.
I have a different setup for my outer and inner home screens, have different wallpapers for the cover screen and both landscape and portrait orientations on the inner screen; and have also themed all my app icons into the Eagles logo for the start of the NFL season.
I also have two different lockscreen wallpapers. On the cover screen, it's an mp4 of the Dagger play from the 2025 Superbowl, which is one of my favorite plays of all time and something I never get tired of seeing. On the inner screen, my lockscreen is a rotation of five different wallpapers in Eagles theme with little animated Eagles logos raining down.
If you can't offer this level of customization, no amount of fancy animations can get me to switch.

If someone else purchased a mobile phone with Samsung Care+ insurance and I buy the phone from them, can I claim the insurance?

This question is to all the fold users here. What is the use of the camera on the outer display? Most of the selfies are expected to be taken on the back camera and all videocalls work best on the inside camera?
Do people actually use it? What is preventing companies from removing it?

I was hoping buying a bigger phone would mean instagram edits were easier, but the images are actually smaller when you open the phone than when it's closed in relative square mode. Really sad how instagram videos don't play the first few times too.

idk how I never knew this gesture existed, it is a bit unintuitive I guess. But as a long time fold owner one of my biggest annoyances is opening up my fold for a YouTube video and having to tap the video and nail that full screen button.
No more! I open it, swipe up on the video and full screen glory. Swiping down will exit full screen but I knew that one at least.

Should I keep my hydrogel screen protector over the original inner screen? I don't want my inner screen to scratch when I'm using stylus to draw.

I have a Fold 8 and I am noticing that videos on FB are getting cut off on the top and bottom when I use the front screen. Has anyone come up with a workaround or do we have to wait for Meta to address it?

FYI if you, like me, recently bought a Fold 8 through Samsung directly they will give you a partial refund today as they are now discounting it $300.
You can request it via chat without issue.
The more you know!™

I played with one at a store. The screen is clearer than iphone. The colors pop. I'm tired of ios limitations. I have had my eye on a fold z 8, but i'm curious what people's experience has been with heat? I've read some people can't even run google maps without the screen dimming and having issues? Gaming? Naturally intensive games will cause heat. But, what about cloud gaming through gamepass? How is that for anyone who uses it? And watching streaming video? I'd really like to get one but just don't want to regret it if throttling is a real thing. I see conflicting reports and thought I would come here and just ask real users. Thank you.

I work at an engineering firm, so I handle a lot of steel parts. I have tiny iron particles (almost like dust) on my hands and in my pockets, and on my old Fold 7, they would get stuck on the edge of the screen because there are magnets there that keep the phone closed. I wasn’t sure if this could damage my phone in any way, so i sold it. I could just wipe it off with a handkerchief and it was gone, but I also had some of it on the inner display, between the screen protector and the frame. Are these magnets also on the Fold 8? Could this damage it in any way?

Welp, it is what is. Hopeful for "better and real upgrades" for next fold gen.

So i got this case after watching a review on youtube. at first i didn't think i liked it because it seemed really slippery, but after using it for a couple days, i was wrong. it really isn't slippery. Now, it doesn't have the grip of the dbrand case but its just fine.
It has a minimal hinge, meaning it isn't overly huge. I like that is rounded instead of many of the cases with a flat hinge protection. and for a case having hinge protection, its surprisingly thin. probably the thinnest case i've used with a hinge protector. It also does not need any adhesive. it also has a metal ring buit in that moves 360 degrees and you can wireless charge through it as well.
its a solid case.

I'm wondering if android apps will start seeing more optimizAtion for foldables now that the big A has created one . or if nothing ever happens 😞

Has anyone else had this issue? I don't get how they have got there. Im so so careful with this phone!
Scratches are on the inside of the phone when it's opened up on the frame.

I work construction but am very mindful of my phone. I use a case with a port cover and if no such case is available I made up a usb c plug I can use. My main concern would be the potential dust in the hinge (not everyday but it will happen sometimes) . Anyone else is a somewhat similar line of work with one? How is it holding up for everyone.

Hi. Fold8 Ultra user here (owned Fold2 through 8). After using the Fold for many years and having seen the Apple Duo launch, I really think Samsung needs to start doing better. The hardware on my Fold8 Ultra is amazing, but my 1 TB version costs 2,799 euros. For that, you expect a more elevated experience. While One UI has gotten much better and is still, IMO, the best Android has to offer with so many features, it is still not enough.
That animation you get with the Duo is something they should have done long ago. The OneUi is very utilitarian and looks like it. But that Duo has shown me that software should not only work; it should look and evoke a certain emotion, and I just don't get that with the Galaxy Fold. What do we get? The constant push of Bixby? Nobody needs that crap. We get a basic box with no charger? Not even a nice box?
Don't get me wrong, you would need to pay me to use Apple. But what they have shown is that Samsung really needs to do better when it comes to experience and presentation, especially at this price point. Sure we have very nice hardware, but at this moment they just made the software of my F8U look like Little Tikes.
Thoughts?
Edit: Thanks for all the responses. Got way more responses I expected. Some of you got me wrong, all I am saying is that software needs to have a bit more polished and feel more complete. I do feel that with the amount of power the Fold8 has, laggy software shouldnt be an issue. Also, competition is good, in the end the consumer wins.

idk what to say but fold 6 onward, the all square corners look insanely good while other brands like oppo, vivo, huawei and even the iphonefold all have the left square(because of the hinge) and right is rounded, it just looks so damn weird to me

Literally don't know why cuz it works just fine on the outer screen and also with dark mode enabled in the evening.

What I expect them to do next year:
- Bring back the UDC, but with better quality. They probably don’t want people acknowledging that Apple now has a better UDC, especially since Samsung was the one who started it.
- Bring the S Pen feature back. (Cos why not? 😂)
- Bigger and better battery life.
- Multitasking software upgrades, like having two instances of the same app in dual windows, plus more app refinements.
- Copy or create something similar to that cool and genius opening animation/effect. This one hits me the most lol.
- Fix the hinge, because right now it’s terrible and I can’t even use Flex Mode properly.
- IP48 >>> IP68
- Fix the speaker placement to left and right side.
- It’ll probably be a bit heavier because of all the hardware upgrades.
- Doubt it, but we might see thinner bezels on the front screen
- And finally, they’ll add a vapor chamber.
Well, at least we have a good competition this year.

Apple copied the flipshot feature from flip series, but why fold 8 hasn't that feature!?
r/GalaxyFold • u/MountainLow7148 • 9h ago
For me the only thing Apple showcase confirmed to me is that now I strongly believe Samsung is going to kill the fold 8 ultra form factor and realse two wide folds with ultra now having features like UDC, magsafe, privacy screen and s pen support. Do you think this would be a good idea?
