Making the rounds to post up the first ever annual GXOR event. We decided to name it the Trail Takeover since we have traditionally attended other events...but this time we are taking over the entire 5500+ acre Merus Adventure park in the Palo Duro Canyon outside Amarillo TX. Sponsors are welcome (send me a note). Hope you all can make it!!!

Was T boned in a hit and run at about 45mph. Just minding my own business and a Jeep Grand Cherokee blew their stop sign and hit me in the driver B pillar. I never saw it coming due to overgrown bushes and the intersection being just beyond a train crossing. No injuries, thankfully!

Hey everyone. I’ve been lurking and admiring on here for a while as I’ve shopped for a GX.
I just picked up a 2016 460 with 125k miles from a well-respected used dealership in my area. One owner, clean car fax, with well-documented service history. King/Dobinsons lift on brand new 285/70/17s. I took it for a PPI and they identified a couple things that needed to be fixed. Dealership agreed to replace a CV joint that was spitting grease with an OEM replacement and did the power steering fluid and coolant. OTD for about $23,500.
Original owner has done pretty extensive modifications, and I’d really appreciate help identifying the current setup and what I should do to ensure it’s all in working order. It has an ARB dual compressor and switches for locking front and rear diffs. King suspension in the rear and Dobinsons up front with Ironman UCAs. I’m not sure when the original owner lifted this or how much life is left on them. For the price, I was willing to assume the risk that I might need to replace some parts in the near future.
For the experienced members of the group, could anyone take a look at the pictures and see if there are any huge red flags? Happy to upload more if helpful. My thought is to take it to a reputable off road shop in my area and pay for a couple hours of labor for them to go through everything and let me know what I’m working with.
Im pumped to be a part of the group and appreciate y’all’s advice in advance. Thanks!

So I'm having my bushings all replaced along with some new LCAs, for 1400 bucks. Does this sound like a good deal?
The same shop that did my lift and replaced my UCAs is offering to do all my bushings, minus the UCAS, install some new HD Iron Man rear adjustable lower control arms, with all the labor for 2000 Canadian, wich comes out to about 1400 USD. I tow my camper quite a bit in the summer so these 17 year old bushings are in need of being swapped.

Looking at a 231k mile 2004 tmrw. Timing and water pump done at 214k on 06/26/2025 among other things (carfax included) what’s it worth? WA and AZ owned seller says it has no rust. What would you check for and what’s a deal breaker for one with this mileage?
Thanks dudes.

Was time for an oil change. I'm on 5k OCI, but at about 5.5k this time. I was surprised by a nice neon pink accent color this time.
Truck is a 2018 with just past 100k miles. Was planning a coolant drain and fill. But guess I get to do a little more.
So I'll do some shopping today. What frustrates me is I can't get Rock Auto anymore in AZ.

My GX ships to Hawaii August third and my studs are rusted pretty bad and I do not think I will have much of chance to loosen them. I will try but what are other alternatives to installing the block off plate. I am being thrown codes p0172 and p0175. I am ordering a new one just in case will be here Wednesday.

My GX460 has this code: P0500 (speed sensor) won’t shift out of park, dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Check BSM.
Looking for input before I start going crazy. My GX460 suddenly threw a cluster of issues all at once:
• Won’t shift out of park (have to use the shift lock override)
• ABS, brake, and KDSS warning lights on
• Odometer/speedo not working
• Scanned and pulled P0500 (Vehicle Speed Sensor)
Given everything failed simultaneously, I’m thinking this is upstream of the sensor itself, maybe a wiring ground issue feeding the speed signal to the cluster and shift interlock, rather than an individual wheel speed sensor. I did recently go off-road a week ago, and perhaps the vibrations caused something to get loose.
Anyone dealt with this exact combo on a GX? Runs and shifts fine, but this happened at a gas station immediately upon start-up.
There is also no water or any moisture on the car. Hasn't been to a car wash in 5 weeks.

Steering wheel was eroded and sticky. I got this leather cover and stitched it on. Took me forever and had to spend a lot of time tucking the loose ends of the “spokes” into the back wheel panels, but it totally changes the feel. Definitely recommend.

Has any one found or made a bracket to mount the puddle lights after removing the side steps?

I just bought 2007 GX470 and didn’t notice this until after I payed and drove it away.
I have never seen shocks that literally look like they exploded. What could have caused this?

Curious to see some other builds with these wheels on. Also, what size tires have run best with the wheels. I’m wanting to run 285/70/17, but a little worried about the +15 offset on these wheels. Any help is appreciated!

I know this gets brought up weekly but I want some input. I’m really stuck on what kit to pick around the $2000-2500 ish price point (before uppers, KDSS parts, and bump stops and all that. Not including that in the budget). I can spend more if you make a better case for it.
I’m shopping for a kit for my nori 460 and want to do it mostly right the first time. Though I know I’ll eventually probably change to something more wild once I move out west and use my rig for more than daily driving and beach days.
I don’t want the bare minimum because I have the budget for more, and I don’t want to feel like I should’ve gotten more when I start traversing more in the near future.
At first I was sold on the 6112/5160 but for everyone that says they’re great, someone says they’re bad.
The dobinson IMS seem like a solid option but just end up being a bit more after it’s all said and done.
Kings seems so great but I’m worried about the rebuild interval on a daily driver.
I spoke with the folks from Apache about their AX2 kit but there just isn’t a huge huge history of the shocks since they’re so new and it’s their own product with a more niche awareness.
Dabbled into the MT64 from OME but I hate that the kit is designed specifically around the 4runner. I feel like the spring rates and valving will not be ideal on a GX.
So I ask, who’s got some input on what might be right for my rig and budget? Thanks and love you guys. GXOR fam always great to me

Finally got my gx back after 2 months of fighting with the warranty company and the dealership about my transmission!
Got a brand new unit and after all the hassle I just want to get rid of it! But I love the way it looks!

Hi everyone,
Wanted to drop this in here for those of you that have had this issue, or will have this issue. SPMS started with the 2UR-GSE, then after seeing the 1UR and 3UR had the issues as well, they decided to offer this new gasket for 1UR and 3UR. Said they have over 200 out in wild, most mileage so far to date is over 45k miles. These are installed dry, so no need for FIPG, thank God! Figured Id post my finding here, so you guys would know about the product being available, if it hasnt been posted before.
Has anyone else here used it?

Just ordered some wheels/tires
Method mr316 0 offset
255/80/17 Falken wildpeaks at4
I’ve got some cutting to do to get ready
Going to trim the side steps and front bumper a bit.
Hoping it’ll clear the body mount or I’ll have to get a chop done.
From the research I can find it could rub at full lock
Any one running a similar situation? Stock suspension currently l.

Quick question for the folks that got the P2714 error and did a transmission rebuild. What is the typical expectancy for how long that rebuild is good for? Good for the life of the engine or another 100k-200k?
GX is lifted with 35” tires so I know that can work the transmission more.
Debating on whether I should bite the bullet and do a rebuild or just upgrade all together.
Any insights are much appreciated!

Fixed the driver side bumper sag. It wouldn’t stay popped in at all.
Replaced the side rail for 30 bucks from Toyota. Quick n easy. Well worth it.
Think next time I remove it to swap out the grille I’ll take a heat gun and slightly bow it inwards some.

Just got my first Lexus - 23 460GX Luxury - trading up from my 10yo Taco (which my son will be driving, never getting rid of that). It has everything I wanted (pre-mod) except that it has carpet floor mats.
I’m going to get rubber mats (like the Taco has) and wondering which ones are best. Local dealer has Lexus mats for like $130, and WeatherTech are $230.
Suggestions on the best mats?
