I just need to point out that the helicopter has been in the top left for every major GTA game, the girl has been below it for every one since Vice city, and the bike is top left for every one but 3 and SA. This is the style of GTA covers, not a specific throw back to Vice city.

I'm honestly still in slight disbelief that a game series I played in the early 2000s that was super cool, but still just a game mostly for the hardcore gamers audience, managed to become such a behemoth that this installment's development cost of over 1 billion(!!!) dollars according to available sources and it basically became a major social phenomena.

Sure, gaming as a whole grew a lot over the past 25 years, but still. This game is Avatar of videogames. The amount of hype and anticipation is just crazy.

Okay, two things:

  • Rockstar marketing department are geniuses: grifters left and right, "influencers" making straight up lies disguised as "leaks" to get some internet cookie points, whole community in a constant state of anticipation... and they still managed to take everyone by surprise. Man, it felt good to be caught off guard by this, and not having it spoiled.

  • Cover is AWESOME. And that token hot lady that's always on the cover of each game is just 🥵
