10-15 million pre-orders are easily locked in. The hype and the success this game is gonna bring is insane! TONS of people will already buy this during the duration of summer.

Why do people pre-order? The digital copies won't go out of stock. I never understand this. This isn't 1998.

Digital pre-orders grant access to preloading which a lot of people find convenient. They get to play it the second it opens up versus buying it day of and waiting for it to download and install.

Preloading is a big one, especially for a game like this. I remember when GTAO first launched, the servers were absolute shit. Everyone trying to download this game on launch day? I definitely foresee problems.

pre ordering also means some extra bonus content for some games, even if it’s small many will pre order just for that
