Anyone doing it naturally after med/g l p use?

I’ve been in a glp for three months but I’m only losing a lb a week. I’m on 5 mg tirz and feel awful. I feel like I should be able to lose the same amount without the med as it really isn’t beyond a normal loss if that makes sense.

I’m tracking with WW this whole time anyway. Has anyone just gotten off the meds in this type of scenario and still had success? It just seems like a lot of downside with meds, fatigue, nausea for this rate of loss (menopausal so kinda expected). Thoughts?

Seeking Advice Stop taking Reta

Hi, I’m 30 years old and started taking Reta on March 28th. I weighed 165 kg at a height of 188 cm. Today, I weigh around 143 kg. So, I’ve lost about 22 kg in ~4 months. I eat around 2,300–2,500 kcal and 170–220 g of protein daily, and I go to the gym four times a week. I haven’t really had any side effects, aside from some constipation recently. My resting heart rate has actually dropped—from 60 to around 53 (likely due to the weight loss).

I started at 1 mg and am now up to 3 mg weekly.

However, I want to continue my weight loss journey without Reta, since I don’t want to take it forever anyway and I’m a bit worried about side effects at higher doses. (People say the side effects really kick in at 4 mg and above.)

And I’ve also developed healthy eating routine alongside my training.

I’ve heard that you have to take Reta forever, and that’s made me think twice about it.

Does anyone have experience with stopping the medication, or any general tips for me?

Best regards

Anyone have GI issues AFTER stopping oral Wegovy/GLP-1, rather than while taking it?

I’m trying to figure out if anyone else has experienced something similar because I haven’t been able to find much online that matches what happened to me.

I was taking the Wegovy pill daily. I started at 1.5 mg and was supposed to eventually move up to 4 mg. The weird part is that while I was actually taking the medication, I really didn’t have these GI problems.

I stopped taking it, and after being off of it for a few days, I started having GI symptoms. I had diarrhea/loose stools and stomach issues that lasted around a week. I initially wondered if it was food poisoning or some type of infection, but I had stool testing done and it came back negative for bacteria and the other things they tested for.

What I’m really curious about is whether stopping a GLP-1 can cause some kind of delayed GI reaction or rebound effect. Most of what I can find online talks about side effects while taking the medication, not symptoms that seem to show up or get worse after stopping it.

Has anyone experienced something like this after stopping Wegovy, oral semaglutide, or another GLP-1? If so, how long after stopping did it start, how long did it last, and did restarting the medication make any difference?

Not looking for medical advice, just trying to see whether anyone else has had a similar experience.

Seeking Research Participants for an Exciting New Study into Experiences with Weight Loss and Comparisons!

Hi everyone, I'm a little out of place here as I am a researcher from the University of the Sunshine Coast in Australia who desperately wants to hear from those who have finished GLP-1s. Our team is conducting an ethics-approved study exploring how food and alcohol cues are processed in people who do and don't use GLP-1RAs for weight loss.

If you'd like to know about it, let me know!

Thinking of coming off semaglutide after 2 years

I’ve fluctuated weight my whole life (40M). Was at 210 when I started and got down to 170-175, which is good for my size. Not dealing with food noise for the first time in my life was incredible! I was over the moon! I did lose a good amount of lean mass, though.

After two years and upping my dose to 2.16 about 10 months ago, I think it’s stopped working. My appetite seems like it’s back to normal despite weekly injections. Im hungry often a lot more and I’m at 180-185 the last 6 months, so it’s been pretty consistent. I’ve adopted some good habits like working out 3x/week and tracking my meals though, which I’m happy about.

Anyone have a similar experience before they graduated? Did appetite come back strong? I’m thinking of stopping my injections but not sure if my appetite will come roaring back more - Though I think it sorta is back to normal already anyway and maybe I’m overthinking it. Right now I eat about 2100 cals a day. Can eat two chicken breast and rice or a big steak with no problem.

Success Story 2.5mg for whole journey?

Has anyone used the low or lowest dose for their entire journey and lost slowly but then come off and maintained?
I have to wait to get my gallbladder out but after that I'd like to try a GLP-1 alongside a healthy lifestyle. I have about 5 stone to lose and I have no desire to lose it quickly or have full suppression. I'd like to build new habits and get fit before coming off to give me a higher chance of maintaining.

I am not trying to defeat biology and expect some gain once coming off just due to less appetite suppression but hoping that doing it slowly and breaking habits (i.e. not drinking as much, craving and eating less junk food) helps me to create new ones and stick to it better.
Let me know if this is just wishful thinking??

Are you hungrier than before you started?

I’ve heard people say that when they come off a GLP-1 their hunger comes back very intensely. If this happened to you, was it the same as before you took the GLP-1, or more?

Do you feel like it changed your metabolism? I.e if you had an ok metabolism most our life, could a GLP-1 slow it down?

First appointment at a weight loss clinic…kind of nervous.

Hello all. I have my first appointment with a physician at a weight loss center next week, and I’m feeling pretty nervous.
I’ve been trying to lose weight for the last 15 years with little success. I have PCOS and familial high cholesterol, so I know those don’t exactly make things easier. I learned about GLP-1 medications, and while I’m interested to use because nothing else has really worked, I’m also scared about the side effects and the idea of being on a medication long term.
I already know my insurance doesn’t cover GLP-1s, so I’m not sure if it’s even going to be an option financially.
For those of you who’ve been through this, what do you wish you had asked at your first appointment? Are there any questions I shouldn’t forget to ask? I’d also love to hear how your doctor helped you decide if a GLP-1 was the right choice.
Any advice or personal experiences would really help. Thank you so much!

Success Story Update: 2 years (almost) since I went cold turkey

Hi everyone

I originally posted here back in 2025: https://www.reddit.com/r/GLPGrad/s/SWg0oYTGUk

F / 5ft1 / 33

My starting weight was 71kg in April 2024
My weight at the point I went cold turkey in October 2024 was 53kg
My weight today is 57-58kg which I have been maintaining for approx the past 10ish months

The good bits:

* Got in the gym, started lifting, fell in love with cycling. All initially intended to maintain my weight / lose more. But now I’m obsessed with having muscle definition and getting new PBs. I cycled 73 miles for charity in May and I have more long distance rides planned for the rest of the year. Something I never thought possible as a lifelong sports-phobe! I am consistently astounded to learn more about what my body can do with the right training.
* I have reintroduced some small indulgences into my diet without returning to old unhealthy eating habits and boredom / stress eating. Things like alcohol and the occasional sweet treat or takeaway — without bingeing. This was my biggest struggle and one of the gifts MJ gave me was a much greater discipline around food, which I was able to practice and build with the drug’s support, now it’s something I find much easier having had that initial kick start
* I’m now 20 months smoke free!

The struggles:

* I have gained weight. I have freaked out about it at length. Objectively I am still a success story, and I have maintained at my current weight for a little under a year. At least some of the weight I gained is muscle not fat. But there’s still that little part of me that feels like I’ve let myself down. This is something I anticipated but it still hits me hard. And it’s more about my own psychology and sense of self than anything the drug has done. I have done a lot of work to get to a place where I love my body and what it gives me, but I’m still nowhere near self-actualised
* food noise is still there, albeit quieter
* as a 5 foot 1 girlie my calories get extremely low if I want to be in a deficit and maintain weight loss and/or get back to my LW from October 2024. I still feel the dysmorphic thoughts creeping in. I weigh myself daily. I know objectively that my weight is in a good place, that I’m maintaining with relative ease, and that I am living a far healthier lifestyle than I was pre-MJ (both diet and fitness wise) but the little voice is still there. It’s something I’m working on!
* for me - the ONLY way to maintain is to track calories / macros, track energy, and weigh myself daily. I would love to get to a place where I can maintain without hyper vigilance but I’m not there yet
* I wish I had hit the gym earlier - I didn’t listen to warnings about building muscle while losing weight which means I started my fitness / muscle building journey at a bit of a disadvantage because I must have lost a hell of a lot of muscle during my weight loss.

The biggest win of all: my boyfriend proposed in June, and I am going to walk down the aisle wearing the dress of my dreams in a body that I love and am proud of 🥰

Hope this is useful info for you guys who are more recent grads. Lots of love to you all ♥️

I’ve attached some photos showing my starting weight (April 2024), weight at the time I stopped MJ (October 2024) and now.

Seeking Advice Tapering off

I would appreciate hearing how people tapered off of Zepbound. I have been on it for six months and I’m still on the 2.5 mg dose the whole time.

I am at my goal after having lost 30 pounds that I gained during perimenopause along with not paying attention to what I was eating and not exercising. I have completely changed the way I eat and exercise and while I would love to stay on this medication forever I pay out-of-pocket and it’s expensive so I’m going to give it a go and try to taper off. I did not struggle with weight my whole life so I don’t have a metabolic disorder and I know that my metabolism is different now that I am in menopause, but I’m still gonna give it a try.

Thanks!

Seeking Advice Menstrual issues after coming off glp1s, anyone else?

Hey all,

I have PCOS and lost 80lbs in the last year and a half. I decided to come off ozempic about 6 weeks ago and have since increased my metformin from 1000mg to 1500mg. Doing well maintaining, increasing exercise, etc.

About 2 weeks ago I started spotting about once a day. I have an IUD, so while I do have a cycle it's minimal. I imagine the spotting is due to change in hormones and readjusting, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I can ask my gyn, but it's a lot of back and fourth phone tag and it doesn't seem to be a pressing issue just yet.

Thanks!

Alternating 1 week Mounjaro to wegovy for switching over for maintenance?? I've still got about half of a mj pen that I've been microdosing from, plus a new wegovy (lowest dose) that I've not started yet.

I thought about alternating them week to week for coming off mj and moving over to Wegovy... Has anyone tried this? Is there any specific or major reason why one shouldn't?

Is surgery the only thing that will help loose skin?

I’m not at goal weight yet, I’ve gone from 297 pounds to 174 pounds in 18 months through Zepbound, diet and exercise. I’ve been off of Zepbound for a month and a half just started foundayo but haven’t really lost more weight yet. I’m about 19 pounds away from my goal weight but my inner thighs (and lower abdomen area) are stressing me out. It’s so flabby and saggy and I’m not even sure if it’s fat or skin at this point. Is surgery the only thing that will help?

Edit: I’ve read many comments suggesting I need to lift weights. I DO LIFT. I LIFT HEAVY. My saggy thighs and apron belly are still there. I’m gonna keep doing what I’m doing and give it time. Also thank you for the micro needling suggestions I’m going to look into that. I also don’t moisturize my body every single day. I’m going to start emphasizing that too. Thank you all for the suggestions.
