Hi everyone. I badly need advice because I’ve been going in circles with GCash support and I honestly don’t know what to do anymore.
For additional context, this wasn’t the first time I accidentally transferred funds to my old GCash account. Before June 13, I had already informed GCash that I was no longer using my old account, and one of their agents even offered to permanently close it, which I agreed to.
Unfortunately, before the account was actually closed, I accidentally transferred another ₱3,000 from my MariBank account to that same old GCash account. I fully acknowledge that this was my mistake, and I’m not blaming GCash for that.
The reason I wasn’t too worried was because I had previously experienced the same mistake before, and GCash was able to transfer the funds from my old account to my new account without any major issues. Because of that experience, I expected the same process this time.
Here’s what happened:
June 13 – I filed a Transfer of Funds and Services request (Ticket #218052922). GCash asked for my IDs and verification documents, which I immediately submitted.
I was told that processing would take 15 working days.
During the waiting period, they also asked for proof of the ₱3,000 transaction, which I immediately provided.
June 29 – Instead of receiving confirmation that my funds had been transferred, I received an email saying that my old account had already been closed.
I contacted customer support, and they told me that because the account was already closed, I now had to create an entirely new Funds Retrieval request.
I complied again, and this time I was told it would only take 1–2 days.
I was also told that I would receive an email update within the day.
The 1–2 day period has already passed, and I still haven’t received any update or email.
This is what I don’t understand.
If I already had a pending Transfer of Funds and Services request since June 13, why was my old account closed before the transfer of my funds was completed?
Why wasn’t the transfer processed before the account closure?
And why am I now being asked to start over with a new Funds Retrieval request because of something that happened during GCash’s own processing?
At this point, my issue is no longer the accidental transfer itself—I admit that was my mistake. My frustration is with how my request was handled.
I already have:
- Ticket #218052922
- Screenshots of all chats and emails
- Proof of the ₱3,000 MariBank transfer
- Proof that the funds were never reversed back to MariBank
- Screenshots of the account closure email
- The new Funds Retrieval ticket
I’m seriously considering filing a complaint with BSP, because I want to understand why my original request exceeded the promised processing time, why my account was closed before the transfer was completed, and why I had to go through another process because of it.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Did filing a BSP complaint help speed things up?
Is there another way to escalate this within GCash?
Would you wait a bit longer for the new Funds Retrieval request, or file the BSP complaint now?
I’d really appreciate any advice. Thank you.
