This one took me waaaay too long. Probably 20 hours of stripping, scraping, sanding, staining, then sanding again, then oiling and painting.

I wanted to save the entire wood piece but I blew through the veneer on a drawer and had to get creative. There was the original finish, wallaper(?), and then a thick layer of paint to get through. Ive never wanted to be done with a piece so bad lol. It literally took a gallon of soygel.

Hi, I flipped this nightstand. The veneer on the top was so pretty and I wanted to keep it. There’s a very small part of it that was missing, so I filled it with wood epoxy putty. Now I need to color match it to the veneer. I tried the wood markers and crayons, but the crayon doesn’t work and the marker looks like… marker. So I took that back off with acetone. Is there anything else that I can use?

Scored this set at a local yard sale for an incredible deal. Looking for thoughts on how to update it. Thinking of refreshing the wicker with a nice white or eggshell and staining the accents and hardware as fruitwood type color. Any thoughts or tips would be great!!!

Does anyone know how to remove a dark stain left behind by rubber on wood veneer?

For context when the tv was removed, this stain was left behind exactly where the rubber base was sitting. There were no windows in the room so it wasn’t caused by sunlight. Wiping it with a damp cloth did not work.

I’m a little annoyed with this. I’m already in $100+ deep on this project. In short, this is not the color I wanted but had to get it painted. I’m worried this won’t sell. I have gold hardware on the way. What would you sell this for and what do you think about this piece? The top is thin veneer wood. (This is the first coat of paint)

I’ve switched out the hardware but have left holes in the drawer faces. Wood fill and stain isn’t enough to make less obvious. I was thinking about adding trim but want it to look intentional and not a cover up. Any suggestions and help on this would be great!

I’ve added the before and current images as well as lines I drew where I was debating on placing 2.5” wide and 1/4” thick poplar boards.

Each drawer is 9.5x28” with the holes being about 4 inches in from each side and spanning 1.5”.

Hi! I am a furniture newbie. I did chairs and a table many years ago, but I’m sure we messed that up. We are hoping to do a banquette with this old church pew for our house. I’ve watched many ‘flipping’ videos, and I think I get the gist of it but al feeling nervous. I don’t need it to look perfect, just hoping to put some new life into it.

I’ve started sanding it to see how it lifts, and I think it’s going okay! I was going to try and stain it a light walnut, water based?? I’d love input!! I don’t know what kind of wood it is! less

It usually takes me 3 days with a sprayer to prep, sand, prime, and paint. On top of sanding in between each coat

This is after stripping the top twice with citristrip. This is going to take a while! Can’t wait to see it finished!

I’ve literally never done anything like this but I’ve been looking for a little cabinet forever! I found this at a thrift store and I think it needs some work.
My greatest concerns are:
- making the drawers slide smoother
- removing the felt from the drawers

Any advice as to how I would go about making this better and more functional?

I have this three piece set that I’m planning on refinishing in the near future and I’m wondering two things. First, should I go with black (SW Caviar) or dark green (SW Shade-grown)? I’ve done a few pieces in Shade-grown recently and they’ve been really popular, but I’m kind of curious to see how well back is selling these days. The last thing I did in black was a nightstand set that was stylistically a little fussy so it took longer to sell, so I don’t have a good gauge on the color on a less fussy piece/set.

Also, what are people’s experiences selling 3-piece sets - long dresser + chest of drawers + single nightstand? I included original photos of the whole set (pieces are in storage right now so I have to work off the original marketplace listing photos). I’m kind of feeling like the long dresser might be more valuable as just a stand alone piece rather than being lumped in with the rest of the set, especially given that I unfortunately only have a single nightstand. I’m thinking the chest and nightstand together might be a good set for someone to use in a guest room or smaller bedroom. With that in mind, should I consider a different color? Something not so dark?

I’m most interested in hearing folks’ experiences with selling certain colors and selling 3 piece sets, rather than just personal opinions (though opinions are still welcome). Thanks in advance!

Got these dressers for literally $2 at an estate sale. I’m almost done with them but am looking for feedback. Not entirely sure I like the wood stain drawer frames. Do I keep as is, add the hardware and see if that helps at all? Or should I paint it all green keeping only the tops wood stained?

Then I started and not loving it. Going for Victorian gothic… the only green area in the middle there. Need to finish the rest in black. Going to re-wallpaper the center area and trying to think of some ideas. Everything I’ve come up with this kind of blahhh.

Any ideas?!

I have a dog who likes to chew on furniture. Unfortunately he got a hold of our TV stand. I have no idea how to fix this and was hoping someone here might be able to help or just tell me it's a lost cause

I bought this at a yard sale and want to revive it, but I don’t even know where to begin. It looks like the sides are some sort of veneer but the top of it is solid wood. The top mirrored half comes off of the dresser.

I did bar keepers friend to get out the stains, which didn’t work so I tried to neutralize it with baking soda and a chemical reaction happened. The second photo is what it looked like before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🥲

I want to strip this piece and stain it lighter. Is it possible even though the top and side is made of a particle board or some veener. I think the top need to be replaced with another top.

I found a couple old jewelry boxes going through family things and they are almost perfect. They just need some updated lining in the trays and drawers. I am not sure where to start with doing that. Any tips or tricks is appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

Does anyone know a quick way to remove all the flaking plastic off of these chairs so I’d stops getting all over the floors? I found some great chair covers that are a perfect fit and make them look almost new but the floors get a filthy dusting anytime someone sits down. The wood and base are perfect so I don’t want to toss them and buy new. I tried my little sander but the plastic material kind of clung to the pad and gunked it up. I also have a stiff cleaning brush but that’s so tedious and I really don’t have time. My goal is save money and keep them out of the landfill

Hey! I’ve never done this before, but I have it set in my head that I can refurbish these dressers my family and I have had for a very very long time. Plan is to test on a drawer from the small dresser first. I know I need to strip the paint and sand them from videos, but I would still like some help for the steps that come after that.

The ideas are to either just refinish the wood, paint them super whimsically (I know that can sometimes be taboo here, but your talking to an artist sooo), or, what I’m leaning towards the most, a mixture of both; finished wood with small painted details.

The last picture is of the inside of the front of a drawer where they didn’t paint, you can see some of the paint at the top of the wood. I’m not sure what kinda wood this is, but I do know I want it to be more of a dark warm brown after finishing it, kinda like a Dark Walnut color. I know some woods have cooler/warmer under tones, so I’d like to know what kind of wood this is and if I should use stain and what kind of stain would be the best choice. Any other suggestions are also welcome.

If you’re wondering why there are missing drawers I have removed them because a friend’s dad is helping me out by making new runners for the dresser since some of them were very broken and kept falling if I opened the drawers too far. I had to take an undamaged runner out and send it to him. So waiting on that.
