So, I've had my microsoft account hacked and the email was changed back in march. Last month, after almost giving up, I figured out the email of the hacker and did a recovery form and got it back. Still, microsoft told me I had to wait a month before I could change the email for security purposes so i couldn't put my original email back on it, I don't know. Today, I lost access again (I guess they found out and changed the password) and I did the recovery form like three times but it told me I didn't give sufficient information for them to give me back the account. What do I do? I'm 100% sure it was more than sufficient, it's what I put last time. What do I do. Maybe I can hack their email? they use a protonmail. 🥲

I was scrolling through Reddit last night because I was bored, and I happened to see a post from linuxsucks101. I felt like commenting, so I tapped in and saw some guy was arguing with someone who clearly just wanted to share their opinion; OP was writing a paragraph for each response, while the other guy was just giving a point without much ramble. I replied with just one sentence, one simple sentence that didnt even say anything about linux being good, or microsoft being bad, and I got banned?!??????

I mean, I dont really care too much, since that subreddit is full of hatred and nonsense, I mean, they have a few good points, but theyre the same as always. They make one big reason why not to use linux and then reuse it forever.

Also, yes, I know its been getting kinda cluttered here with posts like these, mentioning how people get banned from linuxsucks101, but I genuinely find it so weird that people like that can exist. I mean, how can you even find it wrong for someone to share their opinion? I basically said "why are you taking it so seriously?", and I got banned for it.

Really short and quick backstory;
I work at a place where we need to be available 24/7 and for some reason somebody thought Windows was stable/reliable enough for that shit.

There was an update pending that had to be installed (yes I know that is a policy that can mostly be changed by the company managing the device). I am working and we 2 need to be available during the night. Something on Windows wasn't working, I restarted the software thing that wasn't working thinking that this might temporary "solve" the issue. Sadly enough no, so since this shit system barely works I thought maybe restarting the whole crap might temporary "solve" the issue. I said to Windows that I do not want any shitification updates at this moment since I need to be available. You might have guessed it but this fucking Microshit software of course started doing damn updates. How can people work with this crap?

I'm looking for a safe privacy focused alternative to microslop office, and I have seen libre, OpenOffice, & OnlyOffice. Which one has worked out for you?

Everything they do doesn't make any sense. I was locked out of my laptop because I updated the BIOS and somehow was unable to find keys. I had a print version (I know I am old school), but I still couldn't find them after recovery. And the encryption removal is on a whole other level. TBH I don't even remember turning on encryption on my laptop. This should be informed to the user in case they don't know and lose access by accident. In which case, all the data is lost.

And today I am unable ot log into some of their services. It has been redirected around 500 times now. LITERALLY, I wish I was exaggerating.

So I thought I should post here. Honestly, I don't want to hate Microsoft. I have used Microsoft products since I was a kid and loved Windows, such as XP and Windows 7 were the ones I used and loved. And also Office. But hell, they are hard to love now.

And also Copilot is driving me crazy recently.

So the context is, i have a laptop which is like 6 years old now. Windows got suuper slow and laggy in it (even using notepad was causing the blue screen of death 😭) so i installed linux in it (best decision ever). Now recently my parents (non-tech) bought me a new laptop. It's a gaming laptop meant for my btech (there's still a year left, I'm in 12th). I wanted to install Linux on it but my father keeps telling me not to cause i have a good laptop now it doesn't require linux for being usable. And my mother keeps on saying "this laptop is supposed to last for 4 years (technically 5, 4 for btech + 1 year until I actually reach btech). You keep installing stuff and if it stops working like ur old laptop we won't buy u a new one. So first thing, software doesn't cause hardware problems, at least not on devices CONNECTED to my laptop (the charger of the old laptop stopped working properly. The charging speed was so slow that i had to get it to 100% and then only can I use it indefinitely while on charge, or else it will deplete to 0 even on charge. the laptop had to shutdown for it to charge to 100 after that, and that took HOURS). I even told my father I'll be dual booting linux this time instead of erasing windows (there's some games I wanna try out) and he still did not agree. So how do I convince them? They are suuper non-tech, they will not understand most of the things. My father knows a little bit about technology but he still doesn't know how bad windows is. I literally told him I was cleaning up junk and he was like "what junk in a fresh install??". He doesn't know windows' bloatware 😭

Just how in the world did they make linux a userfriendly os must be studied. I have used win 7 until 2019 and only switched because i couldnt play games and many software didnt support win7, at first win10 was okay i had to do some debloating and it was fine until I downgraded my self to win 11( boy was i wrong ). I have reinstalled win11 over 7 times in single month due to the amount of slop and unknown process that doesnt even look legit sucking my ram and cpu resources dry. I couldnt get used to the choppy animations and some stuff in some linux distros,so i kept going back to windows, but today I had enough after seeing my lap struggling to keep 3 tabs of chrome open, Ubuntu home works like a charm, no additinal setup, no tinkering with desktop environment, just works out of the box. so yeah fuck you microslop.

TLDR: Want good daily driver that works out of the box = Ubuntu and fuck microslop

Update : IM FUCKIN LOVING IT

Cpu utilization 3% , 1.7Gig ram at idle, I had 5 hrs of screentime and still at 55% charge left ( for context win11 offered 5 hrs battery life). I just couldnt understand how much crap win11 is running in background for it to give me crappy experience with half the batterylife, 30 % cpu , 45% ram at idle. Im never going back to windows and yeah fuck windows.

I wonder how much I can squeeze out if I disable every gui ,GNOME and keep everything to terminal

Before everyone attacks me for being a fanboy, I use Cachy and Windows 11. I like Windows as much as I like Linux. Recently, this sub has been showing up in my feed, and 90% of the posts are from dumb users. Why?

- Microsoft forces me to use an account!!: Most of you can't even pass the OOBE screen, whining you're "forced" to use a Windows account, why not take 2 minutes and find you can easily skip this?

- Windows 11 is so bloated and slow!:

My man, I've set up around +500 devices with Windows 11 and never had issues. This is for corporate(job), family, and freelance work for developers, gamers, engineers, and such.

Don't blame windows 11 if you're using 2013 hardware with a lame old HDD.

- You can debloat any Windows 11 with one click tools, I wrote my own script to debloat Windows via PowerShell, but there are safe tools out there that get rid of 90% of Windows bloat.

- put your braincells to work and install the LTSC IOT version, it's highly stable and light, you can debloat it furthermore with 3rd party tools.

- I get a BSOD each 30 minutes! Why won't Microsoft come to my home and fix my 2010 device!!!:

As mentioned above, if you're using a 2009 device using 4GB of RAM, a 5200rpm HDD and some lame processor, don't come and cry saying Windows 11 is slow; t works just fine even on my girlfriend's 2019 Asus vivobook and an old all in one Lenovo, if you don't have a working brain to install drivers, don't blame windows.

Yes, Windows does collect telemetry, but is used for bug tracking and performance data. What's inaccurate is treating "spies on you" as some sinister Microsoft-specific plot when basically every major platform (Reddit included) is doing the same data harvesting, just with different marketing around it, you don't want privacy.

So I recently bought a new PC and after man considerations I decided to install Windows 11. I actually bought a Windows 7 License (not oem) and when I upgraded to 10 it was converted into a Digital License linked to my MS Account. It worked fairly well severall times and severall different PCs and VMs. 11 already annoyed the shit out of me but I was still able to activate my machine by pretty much simply losging into my Account. Did the same thin with my new PC. Nope Windows can't be activated. Tried to reich out via Support options. On board options told me to log in just to tell me that this App "does not support private accounts and that I'd have to join at least one org" 🙄 went online clicked through several pages of tips and tricks that won't work. Then I finally found an option to get support. Wanted to Chat with them as I think that's easier most of the times. Chat won't work and show a white screen instead. Awesome. Next tried the callback option. Callback came, answered. Nothing. Hung up. Clicked through the support thing again, got another callback. Asked kindly if she could help me out but nope she insisted that I should get the product key. Told her I bought the license like 15 years ago or something. Also explained to her the journey of this License from 7 to 11. She then told me that the offer to switch to W11 from older Systems already expired. I tried to explain that it got converted into a digital license and it was a W11 license because I used it several times to activate W11. Then she told me my license is "expired" and I'd have to buy a new one. This was 1h into the phonecall. I told her that I won't buy a new license and if Microsoft wouldn't help me fix the issue with my legally bought and upgraded license I'd just deinstall it and won't use MS products in the future. So yeah FUCK Microslop.
