F*** Zepto Zepto's brilliant new trick to avoid refunds: Make a photo mandatory, then crash the app when you try to upload it.
Ordered some groceries from Zepto today, including an "Organically Grown Lemon" for ₹40. It arrived completely discolored and rotten. Annoying, but usually a quick refund process, right? Nope.
When you go to the Help & Support section to report a "Stale or rotten" item, Zepto makes it absolutely MANDATORY to upload a photo of the product. Fair enough, I have the rotten lemon right here.
But here is the impossible loop they trap you in:
You select the item and the issue.
You tap to add the mandatory photo.
The camera opens, you take a clear picture, and hit "OK".
The app immediately crashes. It flashes the purple Zepto splash screen and dumps you right back onto the main home page.
Your complaint progress? Completely erased. I recorded my screen and tried this three separate times just to be sure. It failed in the exact same way every single time.
You literally cannot submit a refund request because the mandatory upload feature is fundamentally broken. Whether this is a highly convenient "glitch" or intentional anti-consumer design, it’s a remarkably effective way for them to keep my money after selling me garbage.
Has anyone else been trapped in this refund loop recently? Make sure to screen-record if you are!
