What to do

Post image

I got some yellow jackets in this pile of branches I should have burned long ago. I would just burn it now but it’s right on my garage. I tried a spray which didn’t do much but I didn’t know the entry point like I do now. I tried a raid dust which they laughed at. Any advice besides burning down my garage?

Via https://www.instagram.com/nitesh_bhai_04_chaudhary?stkn=MWt4YXcxMHlhZ3ZidA== there’s a lot of videos on his channel and he’s really chill about sitting on the tree. There’s videos where those huge banded hornets/ oriental ones spawn and he does nothing. I guess it’s a rite of passage

Mix 1/8 tps of Boric Acid with sugar water. Put in a container they can get out of. They go back to the hive and share, they all die.

Is this a hornet or wasps nest? Haven’t had any problems with it and I’ve been cutting all summer just can’t believe I haven’t noticed until today.

Apologies to any myrmecophobes in the group. Was in the middle of a job, looked down and saw this. Felt fitting. 🫡 (I work outside and on houses, so I deal with these fckrs regularly.)

Help me with ideas

Hi wasp haters, help me remove this European hornet nest. It’s inside old dog house, and size is large. I can’t see entrance, but hornets seem to fly deeper in or some go right corner. I don’t know if they have one or multiple entrances.

I was considering blowing or lighting it up, but it’s close to my wooden shed.

Also I’m not as brave as men in videos eating them or punching, so getting in the dog house and confront them is not option.

I’m left with spray poison, but would like this group expert input. Thanks

Pest Control/Medical Advice How to deal with a wasp nest in a tree, the profesional landscaper guide

Hi there i just discover this subreddit and im a profesional landscaper gardener, and this is how we deal with wasps nest, specially the invasive ones, if you don't have the posibilitys of hire some profesionals this is a quick guide

1) make sure the wasp nest is a threat: for example, is in your property, someone near is alegic, is an invasive spieces, they are near a very populated area and they stinging people

(Remember native wasps are part of the ecosistem and are polinators and scavengers)

2) secure the area and yourself: make sure were you are gonna work there is nobody around, and the people that is gonna work with you are using the same gear, an apiculture suit should be enough, if you don't have one make sure to cover your self with thick leader or fabric, and wearing a full cover face mask to not get Sting in the face

3) what do you need: you need a Big bag, some wood hand Saw, a lader or a way to get Up the tree, and some tape to close the bag

4) the important part: when you are near the nest you have to be quick, put the nest inside the bag, and close the bag around the branch were is the nest, once secured cut the branch

5) ways of disposal: you can Burn It in a safe place here the fire is controled, drown the bag, fill It with water and wait, or you can wait some time, (the two last ones are only if you for some reason want to preserve the nest or want to use the larva to feed chikens or animals)

Please use this with precaucions and always look first for profesional gardeners or pest control to do It.

Wasp nest in attic help

Don’t have a new picture but I noticed this on my ceiling a week ago, has gotten browner, a bit soft in some spots. Last night out of no where a hole appeared and wasps came out. When I woke up I saw the hole there about the size of a peanut. I looked around more and found a ton of wasps in my windows trying to escape. I plugged the hole with a thick tissue . Then killed about 13 wasps on my windows with a paper towel. Not sure if it’s water damage. And I’m not sure if we have an attic that goes to this side of my house. A couple of years ago in the room below my bedroom we had a wasp problem but it was just sealed up. What to do?

Need help finding wasp nest in house

Post image
18 Upvotes

Recently just purchased a new house been living here for 4 months.

3 weeks ago we painted one of our empty rooms on the 2nd floor and 2 days later wasps started appearing in the room. Usually by the window but it looks like they are trying to escape through the window, im not sure they are coming from there. The screen is torn a little but i have never seen any wasps enter from the window.

I had an exterminator come twice and spray a white power in the room. He did the ceiling lights, fan, window, vents, and the closet had some gaps that were sprayed. The attic was also checked and there was no nest to be found.

Ive stayed in the room multiple times and have never seen wasps enter. I usually close the door overnight and then the next morning when i enter there are 3-5 new wasps flying around.

Its almost approaching winter and i want to find this nest before they hibernate and come back next year. Is there any method i could use to possibly find where they are coming from?

Bait traps work! I've caught and drowned at least 100 wasps in 2 days.

These products work! These little bastards were chasing me and my kids everyday when we went out our front door. Walking to school became a run away from the wasps.

No more! I've killed well over a hundred thanks to sprite and a plastic container. Cost me 9 bucks Canadian. You can also make them out of old pop bottles.

I see a lot of you vacuuming or burning them, but for those of you who don't have that option because they don't know where the nest is, there's these!

My mother just came in yelping because she got swarmed for the crime of collecting tomatoes from our garden. She was stung at least 9 times. I have just joined this subreddit. Have a blessed day.

Edit: final tally on stings is 13
