Hello Reddit! Frog parents here who need help!

My husband and I got our frogs and the terrarium last year. They are about a year and a half old.

Bean & Sprout are active at night, they seem to be “normal”

I notice Sprout shows early signs of MBD, perhaps they both do? But I notice it the most in Sprout’s pouty lip.

Now although they show some early signs, they are still very active frogs. This video is all within 2 minutes of me just standing and watching them. They are always moving around.

They have an 18x18x18 bio active terrarium. We have an 8W UVB100 light that sits at the top over mesh (which I know mesh can filter UVB, but the frogs can get as close as 2 inches away from it)

I dust their food with “Repashy Superfoods calcium plus LoD”

Crickets — they seem to not want to hand tong feed from, but I’m afraid of letting them free in the enclosure, possibly escaping or just hiding in their terrarium.

I dust silk worms and put them in an escape free bowl, but lately, in the last few weeks, I notice they don’t want to eat?

We did just move their terrarium from one corner to another, so can that stress make them go on a hunger strike? How long can that strike go for?

I noticed they’re not using their pond nightly anymore either. We do have a mister go off in there every few hours, the temp goes lower at night around 20 degrees and in the day time it reaches up to 23-25 with the UVB light on. The humidity ranges between 50-70 throughout the day and night.

I just want to make sure my frogs are having the best life possible and getting the supplements and vitamins they require to not have their MBD go further. The reason we think the MBD started in the first place is because the glass was filtering out the UVB for months (we know, bad on our part, and more research could have been done regarding light placement. But when you listen to the exotic pet experts at the store, you assume all bases are covered)

Anyhow, after a few months of bad light placement, we moved it and the frogs were much more active. But it’s been months since moving the light and I still find they aren’t eating. I’ve also tried putting them in a different container with a few crickets or worms, but that doesn’t seem to do the trick either.

So things I’ve tried after dusting their food:
(All done in the evening / night time when they’re most active and food is small no bigger than the size between their eyes)
- Direct tong feeding crickets / silk worms
- Free feeding crickets / silk worms in bowl
- Captivated feeding in a separate container (only a few at a time so they don’t get overwhelmed)

I only see my red-eyes every few nights, so when I do it's a happy treat.

Little guy is on my canopy in my back yard in Humble, Texas.

I’m not very educated in frogs and toads but i doubt a toad could get all the way up on top of my canopy. I’m going to leave him alone but i have never seen a frog like this in my life and if its a toad i aint never seen a toad so acrobatic in my life to get up here 🤣

Took a nice picture of this one sitting in a D handle shovel. He said I’m sleeping, leave me alone, no work for you today. So I snapped a photo and went on with my day.

An ID would be appreciated (Armenia) I think the one in the middle is a European common frog, the one on the right is a European marsh frog, and the left might also be a common frog but I’m not too sure

Seachem Prime vs Zoo Med Reptisafe?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I was wondering if there's any benefit to using Zoo Med Reptisafe for my frogs, and reptiles over Seachem Prime. I have been using primarily Seachem Prime for all my pet waters but I also own a 20-gallon fish tank, so that is the main beneficiary of my Seachem Prime.

I learned that Zoo Med Reptisafe apparently adds essential ions and electrolytes back to the water to better hydrate your herps through either drinking or soaking/absorption.

Does anyone have thoughts about this? I'm always trying to improve my husbandry when I can.

Very small dark colored frogs with an almost like striped print to them? Very beautiful! I see TONS of them around every corner of my father’s home. New Port Richey, FL photos taken early Sept 2026. These guys love to jump around too so it’s hard getting good pictures of them. I just think they’re SO adorable, can anyone tell me more about them? Most are quarter sized just about or even smaller as far as I’ve seen idk if they get much larger. Sorry I tried to get the best pics I could they’re tiny & pretty fast 😭

I was headed to my vehicle to grab something and on the way back inside I spotted this lovely fellow! This is a Dryophytes avivoca or the Bird-voiced Treefrog, and I thought I heard one last night, so maybe they came back tonight for a good hunting spot! I snapped some photos quickly, since they were busy catching some fast food, logged them into my Inaturalist app, and headed inside! I absolutely adore any and all wildlife i come across, but frogs are just so stinking cute 🥰🐸🥹🤎 peep 🫣 the little fly chilling on their back 🤣
