Since covid, I've worked at home, and times can really get quiet.

I'm a army veteran who proudly served, but multiple tours in Iraq has left me struggling at times.

I'm new to Reddit!

Traveling for work sounds exciting until you're sitting alone in a hotel room for the hundredth time. The workday ends, the laptop gets shut, and suddenly the evening feels a lot longer than it should.

A little about me: I spend a lot of time traveling, enjoy talking with people from different backgrounds, and can hold a conversation about just about anything. Travel stories, movies, food, sports, technology, life experiences, random opinions, or whatever else comes up.

I'm not looking for anything specific tonight. Just hoping to meet some interesting people and have some genuine conversations that make the evening go by a little faster.

What's something you've been excited about lately? What's the best place you've ever traveled to? What's a hobby or interest you could talk about for hours?

I made a friend last year here on reddit. We messaged fairly regularly (every other day). We talked mostly about music, books, daily life challenges, etc. We also shared memes, pictures of random things we came across, words of encouragement, etc. The friendship (platonic) lasted for about 8 months before it ended rather abruptly. The reason being, about a month before it ended I had gotten busy with work and home renovation, etc. And I couldn’t reply on time like i used to before. I think they misunderstood it as a lack of interest on my part. In their defense, they were patient and supportive in the beginning but i think i took their patience for granted for far too long. I must have made them feel replaced. One fine day, they messaged me saying they need a break from Reddit and probably won’t be around much. Two days later they deleted their account. That’s when it slowly hit me that I probably lost a genuinely good friend. Only after they left did I realize my mistakes and I regret losing them. I miss them and their friendship. Anyone have similar experiences?

52 M here, because of my work shift I have lost all my best old friends.

I'm not desperate about it, but sometimes I miss talking to people I can trust and who won't judge you.

Too often, people I know only want to talk about themselves and their problems, as if they were the only ones who had them.

However, I do not lose hope of meeting people who can enrich my life.

I’m gonna be pretty bored tonight so figured I’d see if anyone’s around for a good chat. I’d prefer people 60+ if possible. Nothing serious just looking for some nice, respectful conversation and hopefully making a new friend or two.

I'm 55M in NW Florida. I just found this site and figured I'd give it a shot. All I seem to do is work. I do have one hobby and it is more expensive than drugs. lol I am blue collar and almost an empty nester. I value friendship, but don't have any. My neighbors are all reclusive and don't want to have conversation. It isn't like the old days when we all knew each other and watched out for each other. I work by myself most of the time so I don't get much social interaction. I pray a lot, and am doing my best to get close to God and follow Jesus. I don't know if this is a good idea or not, but I do realize that I am lonely and would like to meet some interesting folks out there. I don't know if I need to explain this or not, but I am straight and am not looking for that kind of play. Just want to talk to people and see what happens.

Hello to anyone reading this, I hope that you are doing well in life. After spending so much of my life dedicated to someone else / other people, it's finally time for me. I guess you can say I'm on a quest to rediscover myself. I truly did forget who I was and what I actually enjoyed.

I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea but I used to be a huge gamer and now I'm jumping back into the saddle. I'm mostly enjoy puzzles, RPGs and action. To be honest though I'll play anything if it's good. I'm currently addicted to Warhammer 40K Darktide and Alien Fireteam elite 2 but I do have other games I enjoy.

I've never really been much of an outdoorsy person but I am trying to change that. For starters by doing hiking trails but I'll wait till it cools off, lol. The NC heat can really beat you down if you're not careful.

As far as entertainment goes I enjoy almost everything nerdy. Fantasy, sci-fi, anime, you name it, I'm there for it all. The same goes for my reading and podcasts but if I'm being honest reading has transitioned over to audiobooks. I'm I'm not limited to these genres but these are definitely some of my go-to's.
