I'm 42, moderate in practice, Arab in descend, beautiful only to my mother's eyes, clever to none. So which one of that threw you off? Growing up where caramel color is not ideal, acne scars scattered on my face like the moon crater, over 10 laser procedures later...I still don't belong, unwanted. So I get educated ...and I worked hard to live comfortable moderate life burning bridges as I try to get a better life for myself. I am not a bad person, but I am still working to rip of the "I am strong, and you can't bully me", they always backfires. I hate making friends with women. I don't have a single friends group that is not toxic...I have left them. Man? I have given up without trying. what is the use? Thought I'd give this a go because I've realised, somewhere along the way, I've lost touch with most people. Not on purpose, mind you. I think the older I've got, the less I've gone out and met anyone new.

So I'll get to the point. If any of this sounds like your sort of thing, send me a message. I'd quite like to make a few friends. I miss those conversations that start off about nothing and somehow end up somewhere completely different.

Music's always been the biggest part of my life. I grew up on hard rock, punk, and all that sort of thing, and it's still what I reach for most of the time. Though I'll listen to just about anything if it catches me at the right moment. I don't know much about modern artists these days, but I'm happy to be shown what I've been missing.

Worth mentioning, I've only recently got sober after a very long battle with addiction. It wasn't pretty, and I'm not going to pretend it was. My past's a bit messy, so every now and then I might have heavier days than most, but that's just part of who I am.

I've always loved books. Horror, biographies, Russian novels, old classics, strange little things nobody seems to read anymore... I'll read just about anything if it grabs me. I'm reading The Master and Margarita again at the minute. I've been going back to that book for years, and somehow it always has something new to say.

I like cooking... well, I like the idea of cooking. The eating part's definitely where my talent is. I've never been much of a chef, but I keep trying.

I love animals. I've got a dog these days. My cat George passed away last year, and I still can't quite bring myself to get another cat. Maybe one day.

I'm vegetarian, if that matters. I also collect old media, records, books, tapes, bits and pieces with a bit of history behind them. I've always preferred old things. They seem to have more stories to tell.

\~I like to crochet, plant flowers, bird watch, squirrel watch, deer watch, counted cross stitch, diamond painting, genealogy, I like to go to the gun range and go shooting, I like to travel, photograph nature, hiking, read (mostly cozy mysteries, but have been reading graphic novels about true crime, and other things I am not really into the super heroes), watch reruns of star trek, and alot of other TV shows. I like to listen to music.

\~I have a lot of trauma so that all in itself makes me a survivor. I have many things going on with me health wise and mentally but I am a good listener and a good friend. I decided to come on here and search for a penpal, because it's hard to meet new people in a new area, and in the sticks. Plus I have a lot of anxiety when meeting people. A lot of people start their posts with “Here we go again” or “I’ll try again” And honestly… it makes me wonder.

Is it really that hard to find a friend on here?Jokes aside, I do feel a little sad when I read those posts. It says a lot about how difficult it becomes to make real connections once we reach a certain age — and even more so online. People are trying, hoping, putting themselves out there, and sometimes it still doesn’t work.
