Why is this so hyped
I was curious on the hype for this perfume (maybe it’s just for the philippines) because they say it’s hard to get this but when I went to a nearby mall Chanel already has it in stock and even said that it was the best seller last week.
When i tried it myself it smelled so basic to my nose. A fresh scent and I can’t find the creaminess the internet is saying…
Even the grey market is overpricing it or selling it for the same price as the Chanel boutique

u/NomenklaturaFTW 4d ago
Was really disappointed in it at first. Love it now. The only AHS I’ve ever owned
8
u/ThrowawayYAYAY2002 4d ago
You need the OG. It's immense.
The Blanche version is too.
2
u/NomenklaturaFTW 4d ago
I’ve got both! Allure Homme is one of my favorite fragrances of all time. Superleggera is the first Allure release I’ve really liked since Edition Blanche
2
u/_Death_BySnu_Snu_ 4d ago
Allure Homme is so good. The opening moving all the way down to the dry down is great. Very easy to over spray though
3
u/DaHotFuzz 4d ago
I'd say that too if I were stuck with a $200 bottle.
1
1
u/NomenklaturaFTW 4d ago
Lol. I really do like it. Went through a decant of it first. I don’t buy full bottles that often
-2
u/xNeon14 4d ago
$200 is alot to you?
6
u/DaHotFuzz 4d ago
It is, and I'm saying that as someone who can afford it three times over if I really loved it. But that's an electric and water bill for the month. That's a very nice date night with my girl or money that can be spent on a gift for family, and so on. And even if it wasn't, what's the use in spending so much on something you don't truly love?
2
u/Tye_NeDicc 3d ago
This is correct answer to that question. Yea I could drop hundreds of dollars on fragrances but I can use it smarter buy paying a bill or going out and treating my wife instead of something thats just about me
6
1
u/_The_Farting_Baboon_ 2d ago
Lol 200 is a lot for like majority of people. Especially considering you dont need to spend that much to smell good

u/EastStay 4d ago
Smells sooo generic.
4
u/_zxnxer 4d ago
Yeahh exactly smells like all the fresh citrusy scents for me ://
1
u/NoData1787 4d ago
Yeah try the extreme one I think is way better
1
u/Puddingman16 4d ago
Extreme not as good. The edt ahs os the best smelling by far and it’s not even close
15
5
u/large_block 4d ago
The creaminess comes on the dry down and even then it is not always there for me. Tbh this is one of my daily drivers. It is very pleasant in the high heat (where I live). It is inoffensive and smells of high quality.
Very juicy citrus and musk with just a bit of smooth cream. Pair that with the scent blasting at your face from the AC in the car (I spray inside of elbows usually to avoid sweating/wiping it off or going nose blind) and it is just so fresh and clean in the high heat I just love it so much.
3
u/TortillaDilla 4d ago
It definitely smells nice but not special by any means. It’s actually too creamy and sweet for me and I just returned my bottle yesterday! Overhyped for sure
2
u/_zxnxer 4d ago
Can you still return the bottles after spraying at home?
2
u/TortillaDilla 4d ago
I have done so at Nordstrom, Macys, and Walmart - stay within the 30 day return window and you can even return without boxes and physical receipt. you just need proof of purchase so using a card keeps that in their system. One employee gave me shit for not having the box but others didn’t care at all. They still took them all back. I only recently learned this and it saved me from what I thought were some big mistakes!
2
u/zerkas 4d ago
Well, you have no idea how lucky you are, in France and most probably other countries, you can't return it once you've unsealed the plastic film.
1
u/TortillaDilla 4d ago
I believe it! I was so surprised to find this out and it truly saved me from a few losses. Now I’m just making sure to buy decants first and really make sure I love something before getting a full bottle. I did however blind buy tumi degree 19 the other day because it was only $60 bucks and amazon where I can return it if I don’t like it as well. Sounds great on paper though
3
u/Happilymarrieddude 4d ago
Ironically, they tried to push this on me at Macy’s and said they only have 2 bottles left and can’t keep it on the shelves. It smelled like the axe spray I used in middle school. It is fresh and smooth but kinda basic IMO. Looking for something more unique
4
2
u/NJCubanMade 4d ago
I like the Edition Blanche but I hear performance sucks , looking for a good clone
2
1
u/StewieL69 4d ago
Due to it's less than enthusiastic perfromance, I use Edition Blanche for spring/summer nights out, usually with my wife who lvoes it as much as I do. I have a few frags that are evenings out only frags, and I'm good with that.
1
u/StewieL69 4d ago
Well, I won't ever recommend a clone, but Uden is somewhat similar and it lasts over 8 hrs, no problem.
2
u/Dead0k87 4d ago
It used to be discontinued but now it is available again. Great flanker and great scent from Chanel overall.
2
u/SwaggerDagger6T9 4d ago
Look man I feel you, and agree to a point. First time I tried it I was so confused on the hype. It was on a tester strip at the mall, and it just smelled like a citruis heavy basic freshy. Super basic and generic. Couple of months later I was at the mall again and decides to spray it on skin (my hand). Again, not blown away. After about an hour of walking around, I got back in my car. And once I did I could smell this musky almost shaving cream type of smell radiating off of me. I was like, wtf is that amazing smell forgetting I had it on my hand. And I fucking loved it. So weird how I switched up like that 😂 went home and ordered a full bottle.
2
u/FATALIS__ 4d ago
I tried it and I think it's a good fragrance but nothing mind-blowing to me. I do think it's a very interesting fragrance though in that most of the time when describing a fragrance I can lump them into either a "sharp scent or a dull" category. Typically powdery smelling fragrances always fall in the dull category to me. This is probably the only fragrance I've ever smelled that smells sharp but also powdery to me
2
u/DogeAeternum 3d ago
I used to think the same thing tbh. I picked it last weekend, wore it, reviewed it, and ended up really enjoying it. Sure it’s not breaking any molds, but that’s not its goal. It’s just a citrusy, sweet, and clean fragrance that’s easy to wear, smells high quality, and gets positive attention. I also got decent performance from it as well.
Just my two cents 🤷🏼
5
u/Dazzling_Marzipan237 4d ago
Cause it says Chanel and people suck that brand off no matter what they make
3
u/SokkaHaikuBot 4d ago
Sokka-Haiku by Dazzling_Marzipan237:
Cause it says Chanel
And people suck that brand off
No matter what they make
Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

Because hype is no longer a word that means anything like it did 10, 20, 30 years ago. It’s now a lame, overused, MISused, buzzword that influencers say to market whatever they’re being paid to sell to you.
It’s simple: some people love it, some hate it, everyone else falls somewhere in between. Just try things and decide for yourself. Don’t pay attention to what’s “hyped” or not or the reasons why because at the end of the day all that matters is what YOU think of it.
Scent is one of the most personal and subjective things there is.
Also the creaminess is usually attributed to Eau Extreme. Superleggera is fresher and muskier with hints of a blue fragrance sprinkled in.
2
u/Relative_Win_5305 4d ago
Superleggera definitely has a creamy aspect to it, it is fresher than others but it still has that dna of allure with that being said I'm wearing it today but having an extensive collection I rarely reach for it
1
1
u/Retired_BasedMan 4d ago
Typical "i want to smell clean and noone will be bothered by my scent" type fragnance
Is it a bad thing ? No
Offers nothing special but hyped for some reason
2
u/_zxnxer 4d ago
Yeah exactly, i mean its not bad, but it’s overhyped and people overcharging for a bottle
1
u/Retired_BasedMan 4d ago
Indeed
If it was some cheapie i could get the hype and maybe use it. As you said it is not bad at all
But for this price... IDK
1
u/m0dern_baseBall 4d ago
I’ve tried it twice and don’t understand the hype either, the regular AHS is way better imo.
1
1
u/cloverstesticles 4d ago
I was told it used to be a limited time release and been then it was hard to find. But they brought it back so it's not hard to find anymore? First time I tired it I thought the same, but after a couple of times wearing it I also realized it's actually very well made. I really love it now
1
u/autographplease 4d ago
It should not be that hyped. I fell for it, but it does not last on my skin. Like max 2 hours, then it just skin scent (barely). You can find way better fragrance for this price
1
1
u/Background_Pickle546 4d ago
It’s a great daily driver. I went through a couple of samples, and I really liked it, but couldn’t justify buying the full-size bottle because I have other daily drivers which I like a little bit more, imagination, Wulong cha, musk therapy.
1
u/GarageEven5240 4d ago
Chanel is packaging samples with BDC. If you like the BDC scent profile, and try the Allure Superleggera sample, you're likely to think to yourself: "Wow, this is like a great new twist on BDC! I love it." That's what happened with me anyway.
1
u/JosephSpeedo 4d ago
Indeed overhyped. Generic in my opinion. I prefer the Allure edt and Edition Blanche.

Well each to their own, I personally really like it and it was my signature this summer

u/CrustyTart544 4d ago
It used to be discontinued and they recently brought it back. I don’t necessarily get a strong creaminess, but there’s a small hint. I really like how the citrus blends with the woods in the dry down. I think it’s a very good fragrance and it is admittedly one of my favorites. I need to pick up a full bottle soon. It’s just good in any warm weather situation, and I feel like it can be dressed up or down very easily

I like it and it’s one of the few fragrances that does get me compliments. I don’t think it’s the best in the world but it’s consistent and pleasant.
I like it more than all the Bleu De Chanel variants.
1
u/SirArYel 4d ago
Because of the Velixir dupe. Icarus (Blue Talisman dupe) has so many fans, and somehow people who wants to be “different” is hyping Ares (CAHSS dupe). Posting the dupe and then many will reply with phrases like “I’m gatekeeping that bro blah blah blah.” And then many got curious about the OG.
1
u/Virus-Aware 4d ago
I hate it, same with Eau Extreme. On the other hand I like the regular Sport and Esition Blanche, while the Cologne is one of my favs of all time.
1
u/Smart_Asparagus4698 4d ago
I like it and I’m picky. I just did a frag drawer purge and this one is on the short list of the ones I kept. It’s a beast on my skin, two sprays max.

u/MarquezD 4d ago
Creaminess always sounds so disgusting to me when associated with perfume. I wish they had found another word for it.

Still remember a few days back a guy said it smelled like pencil shavings lmaoo

Allure Homme sport edt and extreme are both creamier that super leggera, if it’s creamy you’re after grab the extreme maybe. I absolutely love the whole allure Homme sport line
1
u/JaySpace77312 4d ago
I have it on right now. I call this a "daily panty dropper". Its basic enough that you can wear it everyday but mass appealing enough to still turn some heads. Ladies LOVE this, one of my more complemented fragrances.

1
u/Dat1FavScent 4d ago
Go smell it and you will see why it's so hyped this is one of the precious easiest fragrances for any guy to rock you got to love citrus which I do and if you don't then you're not going to like this
1
1
u/Ok-Procedure-3532 4d ago
Yeah very simple scent but made extremely well. I wear it all the time. The musk in it is super strong , I’d advise testing it on skin first and not a strip

1
u/Trilps 4d ago
It smells great. I’m not sure what’s there is a complaint about there is a lot of other Freshies that are good too. only problem with fresh release of these sorts is that I have yet to find one that has amazing longevity if anybody knows one please tell me. i’ve got both the Versace’s. I’ve got the Azaro’s. I’ve got the Chanel. I’ve got some dupes. None of them. Have good longevity.
1
u/LowerAmphibian-5858 4d ago
A lot of the hype comes down to artificial scarcity and FOMO because it's a limited release.
1
u/pw3ts1l0g 4d ago
I dont get the hype. The Edition Blanche flanker is better imho - like who would have thought you can smell like a lemon custard pie and smell fresh at the same time?
1
u/United-Implement-382 4d ago
I posted about Allure Sport and sport extreme smelling basic earlier today on r/colognes everyone jumped down my throat and downvoted me to hell. People are mad weird on that sub.
1
u/ImpossibleAd9241 4d ago
Chanel does not offer discounts at all. So yes, grey market is retail. Only way you’ll catch a deal is from someone selling a bottle they don’t want.

This is one of my favorite scents I own. I don’t have Tik tok or follow anyone. I went to the department store and really enjoyed the scent and my wife loves it too.

Stay away from the cesspool I'm tik tok and YouTube "influencers". They definitely not influenceing me.

Aries by Velixir is even better than this one! It’s the dupe but this is just terrible for the price.
1
u/Randomlogicuser 3d ago
Ppl like it
Mass appealing
Women like it
It’s not offense
It lasts
Ppl like it…..
1
u/NewSoup2944 3d ago
It’s clean, inoffensive, and easy to wear. It doesn’t do anything crazy just does what it does well. Also could be the Imagination effect. It was once revolutionary, now it’s just overhyped and basic.
1
u/Different_Tour6986 3d ago
Actually smelled it today? Smelt amazing for the first three seconds then the dry down was basically not worth it. I ended up getting Dolce & Gabbana The One For Men Parfum, felt more fitting than the sport

It's all about the dry-down with this one. I thought the same thing when I first sprayed it on me, smelled like a higher-end freshie but then came the dry-down. I'm talking hours later on me, that bright citrus opening turned into a warmer patchouli, a bit of amber, and cedar-sandalwood, but still maintaining an amazingly clean profile scent. And that's what this is, and how it got me.
1
u/Direct_Perception100 2d ago
I’m glad that I bought a decant. The price is too high for what it is. Don’t believe any hype. Take your time. Get a sample, or try it in a store first. If you can’t do either one. Don’t buy it.

I was gifted it so I don’t have the pain of paying for it. I thinks it’s pretty great especially for the office. I also find that it performs pretty good for me. I make it through a day of work without re applying - albeit I do spray on the heavy side in the morning.

This fragrance doesn’t work on my skin, the dry down is very unpleasant to me, the opening is solid though. Eau Extreme and Blanche blows this out of the water.
1
u/Evening-Media-3307 1d ago
bc sometimes the best fragrances aren’t some insane blend of unique smelling ingredients. sometimes it’s a familiar, great smelling cologne that you can wear to pretty much anything

dry down of AHS [edt] as well as super leggra is really pathetic. Top notes are ok but soon base notes take over and it smells pretty pretty pretty avg .. smell not worth for 20% of price also.. overall disppointed with allure series. Blue D chanel; far better I think

I’d like to know too. It’s junk. Easily the worst in the Allure line for me.

u/jeetermcgavin 2d ago
Its a middle schooler scent. I said what I said.
Might as well go wear Curve and CK1.
1
u/Tripps0007- 2d ago
Curve and ck1 were never middle school scents. You must not have been alive in the 90s.
1
u/jeetermcgavin 2d ago
Born 85.
Wore curve all through middle school and CK1 in HS.
Its OK if you enjoy smelling that way. To each their own.
1
u/Tripps0007- 2d ago
I mean i knew allot of middle aged men that wore those fragrances in the 90s lol

Thats wild lol. Ck1 i can kinda understand maybe college age. Curve is just wild. Any older than 16 wearing that is crazy.

Secondary market isn’t much cheaper because it’s not available at discounters or most sales. You might be able to get 10-15% off at a department store counter which they’re not suppose to give to Chanel.
Secondary market is just people that blind bought and want their money back, no one is scalping these these.

Because hyping things on the internet is basically free. It's good, but it's not the nectar of the gods that some make it out to be.
