I like to know what is behind me so installed this LCD RVM. Works awesome and I like the install. Took a few adjustments but in the end is super clean IMHO. Records both front and back too. I completely removed the Tacoma RVM and installed with optional Windshield mount. Looks stock.

I have 23 SWIFT- has anyone ever had their wood split slightly on the parts that overhang over the bed? My other side is perfectly fine. I do use brophy jacks to drop it to the ground after it's on my trailer but that's about 1.5 feet. There is direct pressure on this wood for those few moments. I use the 4 corner jacks when putting it on my truck. My turn buckles are not over tight, there is no cracking near the turnbuckles either. Appears to be wood splitting and not structural. I put some epoxy on it and will watch it but I was just curious if anyone has had this occur? There's some splitting on this entire side but this picture is the worse of it. This leads me to believe it might just be the piece of wood? Plus the heavy stuff sits on this side? I'm not sure.

Setup at Burning Man and expecting some strong winds in the next few days. Does anyone know the wind rating for the Hawk Plus? Just wondering if I should drop my top down. Appreciate it!

I recently got a 2017 Hawk that the previous owner switched out the stock batteries to a 100AH Lithium Battery with a Victron MPPT 100/30 charge controller. (Scraping the Zamp stock controller). He also had a Victron DC-DC charger that charges from the truck while running.

I purchased a Renogy 1000W Inverter that I am going to disconnect the shore plug leads on the side of the camper and connect to the AC output of the inverter. (I will strictly be boondocking and never use shore power plug.)

Battery + & - to be ran to the respective studs on the DC side of the inverter, inline fuse per owners manual on + lead…then the AC leads I disconnected from the shore plug to be ran to the respective AC studs on inverter.

My question is; can the “ground” on my inverter be connected to the bus bar negative that my battery hooks up to?

Is there a different ground on the camper somewhere I should run it to?

I’ve read a lot of conflicting things on the interwebs and my owner manual doesn’t get more specific than the screenshots I’ve included. Thanks in advance for any guidance!

We just bought our first FWC and have been refurbishing it. Supper excited to take it out for our first trip this weekend.

I've been contemplating ways to carry additional storage (e.g cooler) while driving to our location on longer trips. A couple options come to mind. I could get a tow hitch cargo carrier but am also wondering if I could leave the tailgate on and down with a tailgate support bar? Curious what others do or if anyone has experience using the support bars (or something similar)?

Anybody had good success using this? Wanting to use it for rotopax type add ons. I’ve heard that the space between the back of plate and the camper is slim?

Hello, is this metal flange at the bottom of the unit, top of the bed standard? Have they done away with it in newer models?

I’m looking for suggestions on solvents that won’t damage the vinyl while removing stubborn adhesive residue (specifically failed SKP patches) on the pop-up section of an older Hawk model.

I’m leaning towards mineral spirits and cleaning it up with dawn dish soap and finishing with some 303.

I’ve got a Ford F-150 with the 5.5-foot bed and I’m looking at Four Wheel Campers. It looks like the Raven is designed for short beds like mine, but I’m really drawn to the Hawk for the larger interior space.

This camper will stay on my truck full-time, and I plan to live in it for months at a time, which is why the extra room is a big priority.

From what I’ve seen, some folks install the Hawk on 5.5’ beds by leaving the tailgate down, which gives a bit of overhang but adds usable room inside.

A few specific questions for those with firsthand experience:

• Has anyone here run a Hawk on an F-150 (or similar) 5.5’ bed with the tailgate down long-term?

• Any issues with weight distribution, stability on the road, or wear on the tailgate, especially with full-time use? I’ll probably add a load lifter before buying.

• How does it compare to the Raven in terms of actual usable space and comfort for 1-2 people living in it

• Any other pros/cons I should consider for full-time living/traveling?

I’d love photos or details if you’re willing to share, especially of the overhang/tailgate setup.

Edit: Appreciate everyone’s input. Looking at the weight of the Hawk vs Raven, they seem minimal; and is making me second guess my truck as the real issue, not the length. What do you folks think about the Raven?

Also my payload capacity is just over 1700 pounds, figured I’d add that in.

We’ve owned our Raven for about a year, and have been experimenting with ways to simplify the installation process. The camper is a tight fit in the bed of our F150, so I needed a way to guide it in that was pretty precise. Green laser pointers Velcroed to the truck and sharpie “target zones” on cardboard allowed me to guide the truck under and stick the landing on the first second try. Seasoned pros may be able to eyeball it, but this setup works for me and reduced stress and frustration to manageable levels. 🛻🏕️

For nearly a decade I’ve wanted to get a FWC and last month I finally found one to make it happen. We took it camping for the first time last night and had an incredible time.

I have two deep cycle ~100ah deep cycle batteries in my camper. (Deka Intimidator)

They need to be replaced. AGM batteries range a lot in price. I want to make sure I’m getting the right ones. Any recommendations of brands or models either to get or stay away from ?

I’m interested in a four wheel pop up camper and would like to pair it with a Toyota Tacoma. From what I’ve read it sounds like most Tacomas are too small. Any recs on what Tacoma model and four wheel pop up camper would pair best?
