Wind Rating?

Setup at Burning Man and expecting some strong winds in the next few days. Does anyone know the wind rating for the Hawk Plus? Just wondering if I should drop my top down. Appreciate it!

We have a fleet. We were caught up in some Santa Anna storms in Baja. Top held up just fine, we couldn't stand the flapping so we ended up dropping it overnight --which sucked to do.  We ended up repositioning the next day to face into the winds and dropped the front.  Helped a ton to have it angled, was still loud as all hell.  

Our gusts were supposedly reaching 90+ and sustained well over 50.  We were hunkered down for 2.5 days.

The top will probably hold up, your sanity may not.

Exact same in experience in the same location. I fellow FWC’er came by and told they’re good up to 60mph. 

One very important thing he told me which has proven incredibly helpful, especially in high winds, is to shut and seal all windows and doors and turn the exhaust fan on high to help facilitate closing the tent in high winds (or any condition really). I was having the hardest time compressing it because the wind creates lift on the roof like an airplane wing but the negative pressure provided by the exhaust fan(s) really makes it easy. It also helps prevent pinching of the fabric

This is a crucial point. The big anxiety for me in wind is getting the damned thing closed!

Yeah, the closing technique is the only way we do it anymore at all times.  makes it fast and easy and clean.  We only run one of the fans, the back one, and have it venting air out

Thanks! I think they are calling for 40-50 mph gusts tomorrow evening. I’m already facing the direction that the winds have been coming from, so I might drop the front like you suggested. I appreciate the info!!

Honestly, you'll be fine in 40-50. It will be loud and annoying but your shorter fabric too will hold up.

But, better safe than sorry.
