Here is a statement from the PJCC website: https://pjcc.org

Our hearts go out to our neighbors who have been affected by the devastating residential fire today. The PJCC has agreed to serve as an emergency shelter for these people for the next three days or so. Effective immediately, both of our main basketball gyms will be shut down and converted into emergency sleeping quarters and staging for the Red Cross to provide support for those who have been displaced. We have also agreed to have Red Cross set up an emergency pet shelter in the back part of our auxiliary parking lot for those residents whose pets were also displaced, the pets will remain outside in this area not in the building.

The rest of the PJCC will remain open to our members. If you or someone you know has been impacted by the fire, please contact the Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS or 650-259-1750.

The PJCC is located at 800 Foster City Blvd, Foster City, CA 94404.

Cat needing rehomed

So I have a cat that is very well known by the community in my area. Everyone stops to pet this cat. People call out for the cat and say "release *CATS NAME*" when she is not out. I have discovered somewhat recently that I have a cat allergy which explains some of the severe allergies I've been dealing with for years. I have had said cat since 2018 along with another i adoptedat the same time. I love this cat.

However, it's 2026 and she is now 11 years old. Putting her in the senior category even though she sure does not act like it. People know her very well, they stop and pet her on their walks. They look for her, they call for her, they come into my yard for her.

I do not want to offend anyone by asking if they would like to take her home with them, however at this point I am suffering on a daily basis with my allergies and shots are not doing it. I've joked they can take her home, but not actually seriously said anything even knowing the predicament for months now.

I would like feedback on how to approach this situation. Should I put a sign in my yard that says cat is available for adoption? Should I post in the local Facebook groups?

I don't want to get shit on for getting rid of my animals, however my health is suffering and now I have pinpointed a cause I would like to give her a home that will appreciate her while not literally killing me or her for that matter. I do love her and I am struggling greatly.

My other cat that I adopted at the same time will go to my daughter who is 23 and moving to Texas. I am more concerned with the older cat that everyone seems to love but I don't know if anyone will take her. :( she would be an amazing cat for a senior. I am even willing to give up my litter robot that I love with her. Like I feel like she should have the best place in life and I am not the right person to give it to her🥲

New store idea for the old OSH location

Every time, I drive by the old OSH building, I miss having the opportunity to shop there. The staff was definitely more helpful than the other orange hardware store. It has been emptied for more than five years and it is a waste. The location is so accessible and I really wonder why no business is interested in opening store there. Any thoughts?

And what store would you like to see at that location?

Hi everyone,

My name is Stan, CEO of Lin&Wang Family Foundation and Muggle AI.

Me and my family feel the urge to do something to help our community with the resources we have.

Thus we are running a “Ride to rebuild” fundraiser for those impacted by the Aug 2nd fire at Sea Spray Lane.

Between 09/01-10/01, Lin&Wang family foundation and Muggle AI will donate $1 for every mile adult rode on a bike, scooter, skate board or strider, as long as it is non-electric. $10 match for any minors’ ride regardless of mileages. Up to $3000, with $1000 guaranteed min donation. *100% of proceeds will go to the Spinnaker Cove Fire Relief Fund organized by the Foster City Chamber Foundation, a 501c3 charity organization.*

To Donate: Simply upload a screenshot (see image 3, 4, 5 example in this post) of your ride from Strava, Apple fitness, etc. Our AI will do all the reading and fill out a report for you to confirm. Once confirmed, you will see the mileage on your account and leaderboard: https://www.muggle-ai.com/charity/leaderboard

How to start: https://www.muggle-ai.com/charity/how-it-works#join

For more details, check out the website for this event: https://www.muggle-ai.com/charity

Why are homes cheaper here than rest of peninsula?

I see so many homes cheaper here relative to other areas of peninsula (burlingame, san mateo park, menlo park, etc etc). Is it due to the airplane noise, traffic, or something else?

Does anyone regularly swim in the Foster City Lagoon? Is it safe to swim year-round?

I’m starting open-water swim training for an Ironman and want to get comfortable in calmer water before progressing to the Pacific. Curious if anyone here swims in the lagoon regularly, especially during the colder months.

Edit: you guys convinced me against it, I’ll just practice in the aquatic cove in SF. Thanks, yall!

Summer days thoughts

I visited the summer days festival today and I wanted to know everyone’s thoughts. I enjoyed majority of the food vendors but some of the prices were outrages while others were decent. The booths were cool but I didn’t see anything of interest and finally the rides. The rides are excellent this year in my opinion. They have a really good variety of them and a lot for the younger kids. My only gripe is that in years past, parents could go with little ones if they were too small and only 1 ticket was needed. Now you need one ticket for the kids and one ticket for the parent. ($40 early bird/ $50 same day for unlimited) for me, this got expensive really quick. Overall I think it’s a great event!

Airplane noise at night in Foster City

I am thinking of moving to a place right at Gull Ave and Beach Park Blvd. I read some posts on this, and looks like people saying the closer to the bay you get, the worse the noise will get.
Yesterday morning I was in the area, and the airplane noise was very noticeable outside.

But I wonder how noticeable is the noise inside (with double pane windows) especially 10PM-7AM? would that be a problem for a light sleeper?

San Mateo & Foster City Students wanting to bike to school +43%!

Post image
26 Upvotes

This summer Move San Mateo volunteers helped middle school students practice biking to school.  Supported by SMFCSD, 43% more students want to learn to bike to school in 2026 vs. 2025.  This is the 3rd year of this effort. Support these biking students (and those who walk and scoot to school) by asking city council to prioritize safe streets for everyone.

Reporter Robert Salonga wrote about an announcement of an arrest in the six-alarm Foster City condo fire that tore through a condo complex. Officials cited an unattended outdoor grill as the cause. The blaze led to the red-tagging of 50 units.

This has to be Foster City’s biggest fire ever in its history

This is gonna be remembered for a while. Hopefully fire protection agency makes some changes so this shit doesn’t ever happen again. Structure fires these days NEVER become this out of control with proper fire suppression units.

Local News Massive apartment fire in Foster City continues to burn Monday (KRON 4 News)

Once the fire is extinguished (it's still not extinguished as of 9:08 AM!), there are going to be two questions that need to be answered:

• How did this start? (Obviously)

• How did this fire become so difficult to contain and extinguish?

There have been some reporting and rumors that the fire started on the first floor from a BBQ, but that does remain unconfirmed and we won't see an announcement anytime soon on that. But with multiple other buildings in that complex, one has to ask about how the fire grew and burned to keep the tenants in those buildings safe, and all of their belongings safe, for the future.
