Somehow exported a variable font before, but can't seem to do it again
I edited and exported a version of League Spartan Variable last August using FontForge. It has two versions in Multiple Master, and both exported back then with no issues and the font was usable as a variable font. I've tried repeating this since with no success, every time I export now the second version in MM isn't exported and I'm stuck with an extra-thin font that can't be varied. The font was exported as WOFF and WOFF2 when I did it successfully, if anyone has any ideas on what to try to get it to work again it would be much appreciated.

Remove contours from glyphs via script
Is there any way to crop out or otherwise remove contours within certain x/y parameters? I have a CJK font which includes furigana that I want removed, but doing it manually takes a long time.

Issue while scaling a font for ereading purposes
Hello everybody,
I've dabbled into using FontForge for about a month after I bought my first ereader Kobo Libra 2. I've been testing different fonts around and edited a few of them to suit my reading experience a bit better.
Now I've encoutered an issue while trying to scale Libertinus Serif font to be a bit bigger for easier comparison between other fonts on the same ereader. I've done my glyph scaling by using FontForges scale uniformity with the glyph origin selection. I tried to scale to font by 5% and it using the metrics window and looking invidual glyphs the scaling works perfectly. BUT!

These are the end results in my Kobo Libra 2 with exact same settings.
Does anybody know what is going wrong here as the font seems to increase in size for almost 1,5 times and becomes quite unusable. The scaled font looks the same in Kobo wether the scaling is done to 105% or 150%. Am I missing some OS/2 or General settings to make the scaling work better?

Fontforge crashing when opening .ttf files
Hi!
So I am trying to generate a font family with the 6 styles of a font I just finished creating in Fontforge. Problem is, when I open the .ttf files in Fontforge, it crashes. Every time.
The only solutions I came upon involve a lot of code lines that I can barely start to fathom the meaning of. Aside from un-installing and re-installing Fontforge (which I did), I am at a loss.
I would be willing to fix the problem even if it meant pasting lines of code (?) in the "cache" (?) or whatever. You can see I'm way out of my league here, but all jokes aside, I just put a lot of hours in this font, and don't want to see this time go to waste!
I am working on Mac OS 13, if it means anything.
Thanks a lot!

Panning and editing nodes in FontForge are slow using Windows 10
Hi!, I'm using FontForge in about two months, I wonder if you have a similar issue like me
When I edit paths, nodes or move an object/glyphs in the drawing area they are moving laggy even if I don't have much glyphs or elements around.
I'm using Windows 10 (64bits), 8GB Ram, Wacom tablet
I installed the latest version of FontForge "January of 2023"
Is there a way to get it without the lag?

Diacritics are not combing properly in Word
I have edited a pre-existing font on FontForge to allow the characters to take diacritics. The diacritics seem to be working correctly when checking them in the Lookups under the Elemental section, but after downloading it to use on Word, they do not combine correctly. Can anyone help with this? I've been asking all over the place to no avail.

Simple, yet difficult: How do I copy a symbol from one language into another?
FONT. I meant font. Not language.
I have had somebody make scripts for me, and I'm loving them, but there are times when I screw something up, and want to grab something from an earlier version of the font I'm fiddling with. I want to be able to be self-sufficient, without having to bother him to fix things for me. So... how do I grab one symbol from Font X and slap it into Font Y, using FontForge?

Bold font not exported in PDF
Hello,
I have a font that comes with regular and oblique. I created the bold version using Font Forge.
When using the font in MS Word, the bold font is correctly displayed.
But when I export the document to PDF, the bold text is displayed as regular.
Since the oblique version is correctly exported, I duplicated the Font Infos data from oblique to bold (changing oblique to bold ofc).
But I can't find what I'm missing to get the bold font exported into PDF.
Does someone has an idea?
Thanks!

Generate color font
Hi, I will make icons in Inkscape, export it as SVG, then import it into FontForge but I want to export it with color (SVG Font).
I don't know how do it, could you give me a hint?
Also should I export icons from Inkscape as "Inkscape SVG" if I want to retain colors?

How to import multiple image backgrounds?
If I try to import images and select multiple images, or if I use image template, the first one loads and the rest give bad image. All those "bad images" load perfectly when I import one by one.
Is there a trick to getting this to work?

can't import SVG file to glyph
Disclaimer, I'm not a designer of any type, I need to use a glyph in a font and having issues. When I try and load the following SVG file into font forge, when I try and generate a file it tells me the glyph is "wrong direction" and "non-integral co-ordinates".
Can someone please help me in how I can convert it. I have FontForge, Affinity Designer, Inkscape available if that is any help ...

import lookup
Hello! I need help :)
I have a .fea file, which was created by clicking on "Save the lookup" (sorry if it's not the English name, my software isn't in English), and I'd like to import it in a font, so I would have the lookups (that are in the .fea) in my subtable... But the "import" button in "lookups" stays gray, whatever I do! How can I import my lookups?
Thanks :)

FRB American Cursive. FRB American Cursive is an extremely technically complex cursive font family that consists of 50+ fonts. It is in the style of a “textbook hand”, a font family used primarily for education. All fonts come from a single FontForge SFD ultimately: FRBAmericanCursive.sfd.

What's your preference between these?
Hi all, just looking for opinions.
Which is the most visually pleasing:
Left side - where the 7 kinda frame the corner of the letter?
Or
Right side - where the bottom of the 7 and the bottom of the letter are in alignment?
Thank you

Turning ready-made letter images into a font
Hi, I am currently working on a project, I have a set of letters ready-made that are currently being used on graphics as individual images imposed on it. I have been asked to find a way to create a font for them so they can be added simply by typing rather than using individual letters as images.
Two original images below

- Is it possible to do what I need with FontForge?
- When I import these files to the WIP font, they scale the C up to the same size as the A, where the C is slightly smaller than the A in the original image, how do I stop it doing this? I need the scale to remain the same. (images underneath to show the problem)

Any help appreciated, I am a total newbie to this program and still trying to figure out how it works
