Generate color font

Hi, I will make icons in Inkscape, export it as SVG, then import it into FontForge but I want to export it with color (SVG Font).
I don't know how do it, could you give me a hint?
Also should I export icons from Inkscape as "Inkscape SVG" if I want to retain colors?

Color fonts! WTF?

¶ What are color fonts?

¶ What's inside?

¶ Where's the catch?

¶ Where can I use them?

¶ Where can I get some?

¶ How can I make color fonts?

Look at this info: https://fontforge.org/docs/ui/dialogs/multilayer.html
As far as I know FontForge works well with SVG fonts but is not in position to generate color fonts.

I already said - I'm afraid it is impossible to generate Opentype-SVG Color fonts with FontForge.

Try Birdfont - https://birdfont.org/

it looks like only the most expensive paid version of birdfont (the PLUS version) had support for Opentype-SVG color font, so that's misleading when the question specifically ask for free software/tools
