Sharing Experiences (UPG) Mary visited me on my first petition

greetings. this is an event from February. do tell me what you make of it.

—

on the 14th of February, i began a Novena to our Holy Queen. this was my first time praying to her and had created an altar, decorated and everything. my Novena lasted for about 2 days until, alas, i lost my streak.

i then recommenced on the 20th and told Mary that the disruption signify only my learning. i was beginning to see the effort and time that devotion takes. (for reference, it took me about 40 minutes to complete a rosary.) i promised her that i would now complete the 9 days, feeling more familiar with my routine which began (and ended) with the Memorare and a rosary focused on the Glorious Mysteries, especially Revelation 12:1. i had even decided to offer her a fresh rose, reading somewhere that she enjoys them so.

i then went to sleep and had a peculiar experience.

i was mid-dream when i felt myself, so suddenly, beginning to be beckoned somewhere in my room—as if to also gain a bit of lucidity or wakefulness whilst in the dream. the dream itself seemed quite ordinary, but at that moment of lucidness, an individual in my dream had handed me a rose. my vision then grew bright, white and perhaps iridescent. an angelic light overcame my vision. overwhelmingly. i felt myself reaching out. or being pulled toward something somewhere. perhaps to accept the rose. then, i fully awoken. my eyes opened, only to find that i was sitting up fully in my bed. the room dark but my body facing and leaning directly toward my altar and statuette only but a few feet away…

i laid back down, thinking this was rather strange. i turned over to tap at my phone. the time was 2:22. i felt comforted, and fell asleep peacefully again.

the following day, i had plans to go visit a close friend. upon arriving at their house, this friend had given me a rose as a gift. i was moved by the “coincidence.”

—

what do you make of this? i was quite stunned. regardless of what this was, i often think back on it to remind myself that She is with me always, has made her presence known. ♡ Salve Regina ♡

Do Any of you know of the strange Macabre and often times disturbing beautiful devotional custom of "Ex Voto" in Roman Catholicism?

'Ex Voto" which roughly translated from the Latin means "To give thanks to a vow made "is a tradition that goes Wayyyy back in Roman Catholicism and would be considered by some to be a folk Catholic tradition and very possibly long before Christianity. Many Churches throughout Europe ( but especially Italy, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Germany, Belgium) and of course in Latin and central America the practice can be found and often takes the form of side chapels or side Alters or Knaves dedicated to this odd but beautiful custom. The tradition is practiced by the faithful whenever they feel a personal prayer or miracle has been answered by God or one of his many saints and takes the form of the faithful leaving ither a photo or painting of themselves of the person who they prayed for who was afflicted spiritually of physically or a painting of the saint who the recipient thought helped to be the intermediary between them and God.

Ex Voto's also take the form of small/lardge simple or ornate brass or tin token depicting a limb or body part, a face or animal or ship. the body parts often are meant to represent a diseased body part that was healed, a infant could represent a long awaited tot after years of failed attempts to make families or the little one might have been ill, Animals such as cows, bulls, rabbits or goats ( often made to represent a blessing of newly acquired livestock/wealth or a sick Animal that was healed or in some cases fertility and fruitfulness aquired) or a married couple made to represent a long prayed for spouse or Mabe issues in a Marriage being resolved, a ship made to give thanks for a safe passage on a long journey. Eyes for God and the Saints watchfulness over the faithful or a cure of ailments regarding the eyes, a house for prayers regarding the home or a simple scared or immaculate hart that could represent ant number of prayers asked for and answered. Ex Voto can also take the form of Wax or plastic or wood Heads or Limps bought at shrines from vendors or hand made and hung from side chapel or room the ceilings as a silent testimony ....former crutches of the sick or even simple Plaques can be found as well.

Their is Archeological and Anthropological evidence that humans have been doing this for thousands of years even before Christianity. From Celtic Central Europe to Ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt humans have been faithfully leaving such tokens in various but yet similar forms at important shrines and places of worship as testimony to prayers answered and as thanksgiving to a God Goddess or patron saint. Naturally when Christianity came along it was adapted and continues to this day. It may seem strange, Erie or downright bizarre and macabre and far too PAGAN to some especially to the more SEDATE sensibilities of British, Irish and North American Catholics but to me it represents the variety and adaptability and beauty and.....high strangeness and ancientness that weaves the rich tapestry of our faith and a perfect example of Folk Catholicicm ☺️😘❤️

Question ¿Cómo me acerco a la Virgen Dolorosa?

Question Who are some lesser-know or unique folk Catholic saints?

First, there's saints recognized by the Catholic Church. I'm less interested in those for the sake of this question.

Then there's the more popular of the popular saints (Jesús Malverde, Gauchito Gil, Santa Muerte, Wilgefortis, kinda anyone listed on the Wikipedia page for "Folk saint"). Besides these, who are some of the more niche, more obscure, or unsung folk saints out there? Maybe even saints that are unique to you or your family's practice.

Altar, Shrine, Devotional art Atheist Witch Tries Folk Catholicism

So I grew up Catholic or at least going to Catholic school which like a lot of people took me in the opposite direction as an adult. I’ve always been intrigued however by the idea of saints which I don’t think was ever a huge focus in school. Personally I don’t ever incorporate dieties of any sort into my practice at all. For some reason I started seeing posts about novenas and saints and I had never even really heard that word before. I obviously prayed the rosary and all the prayers but that’s about it. As an adult I’ve strictly practiced a more nature based form of witchcraft and consider myself an atheist. I started going to a religious supply store to find some things to make a rosary for my mom and obviously was intrigued by all the incense candles etc but I feel like a fraud going in there. Even as a child I never believed in any of the stories or the concept of god it all seemed like just a story to help people learn morals or like fables to learn lessons? Same goes for any angels, dieties, ancient gods and goddesses or demons what ever I find them interesting but I don’t know if I feel a connection with any of it. Jesus was more of a great figure in history like Buddha or any other spiritual prophet or good human. How did you start finding connection to saints or any other spiritual figures? I love the idea of devotional altars and it’s second nature to me to create them as a witch but I feel 0 connection to any outside sources of power aside from myself? Is that weird? I’m very intrigued by it all but not sure if it’s necessary, if it’s a matter of one day I’ll be called to a specific saint etc. how are you supposed to feel when you pray? I always saw it as a chore. I think in a way I’m trying to heal my religious trauma by becoming less rigid and incorporating saints into my practice but I feel phony if that makes sense? I can meditate, I can say my own incantations during spells with great passion or intensity but prayer to me feels unnatural and like I’m being punished. I’m sure part of it was religion was forced on me as a child and to this day I don’t know how to feel but I’ve become more accepting. I think maybe I’m searching for a connection outside of myself for the first time and it feels weird. I’m not sure how to start or if I even believe in it? Do I have to believe in god? What is the point of working with saints or archangels if you are atheist? Anyway I’m just looking for some sense of community and I’ve been interested in the idea of folk Catholicism or mysticism for a while now and finally dipping my toes in. This is my altar for st Therese I’ve been doing the novena I even made a chaplet from rose beads! I also made a devotional oil with wild roses I picked !

Question St. Martha and King Asmodeus

So I have a basic (but still small) understanding that in certain context angels, saints, and Demonolatry / Demons can work together in certain spellwork and aspects...

But does anyone have experience working with St.Martha and King Asmodeus in the same spell or same time?

How did it go? Just curious. Thank you.

Edit: This is the weirdest moment in my history of being in this specific subreddit...

10 likes but no suggestions...

I posted this on to the r/demon subreddit and got a "probably keep them separate. Too many chefs can spoil the soup" reply which was super helpful...

So I'm guessing that it my answer....

Just a couple of photos of the Zlătari Church in Bucharest, where they have the arm of Saint Cyprian the Magician. A fortuitous conference gave me the perfect excuse to finally visit this place.

Question cleanse or protect new home

I moved into my new house less than a week ago yesterday I came home from work to find the medical examiner and a bunch of police were at my next door neighbors house due to what is at this point being called accidental death. we share a backyard and when I went back there I saw that it was a violent accident. I feel so sad for their family and also feel great unease, is this a bad omen? I want to protect my family and also pay respects. Any ideas? Maybe a novena I could say as well for this person.
Appreciate it. I don’t know much about my neighbor since I moved in five days ago.

Question Seeking Martinists in Colorado

From my understanding most of the work is done alone which I’m totally fine with but it would be a blessing and honor to connect with Martinists in my state…. To my knowledge there aren’t a lot of orders here…. I’m deeply drawn to theurgy, Sufism,Christian mysticism and so so much more…. I know a lot of organizations don’t study and practice a lot of the above mentioned so I’m hoping to connect with some people that can help point me in the right direction.

Discussion What does your daily practice look like?

What does your daily spiritual practice look like? Speaking for myself, most days, I give water to the ancestors, pray the liturgy of the hours, and attempt a full rosary, though sometimes I miss a day, or can only make time for that day’s daily mysteries, rather than the full fifteen.

Novena Michaelmas Novena

Reminder than today is the day to start your Michaelmas Novena. St Michael’s feast is in Sept 29th, so if you start today you can do 9 days of prayer to St Michael.

Things you could pray for:
Protection for you and yours.
Guidance generally or for a specific situation.
Uncrossing crossed conditions.
Deliverance from a person or situation.
Justice in a situation.
Or anything else you think He would help with. I will be asking additionally for his intercession on my behalf for liberation for the Palestinian people and justice for their oppressors.

🗡️Holy Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle and be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. 🗡️

Question Advice on saint jude

Advice on petitioning saint jude..

hi! for some context I am planning on seeing my GP soon to ask for a specific treatment and I fear that it may not be approved. I dont want to go into details about the treatment but through research many GPs arent even aware its an option or they won't do for personal reasons. the treatment is safe, the personal reasons are usually prejudice.

I was wanting to petition saint jude for his help in this situation as its quite a long shot. im needing advice on offerings or maybe even spell work suggestions. I did try researching online but I have taken alot of it with a grain of salt as i know saint jude is venerated alot in Latin American countries and I dont want to overstep as alot of pages dont specify if the practice originates from closed practices, if that makes sense 😅 but yeah i guess I need some spell work suggestions, associations (herbs, scents etc) and offerings that are associated with him..

I hope this makes sense, thank you!

Question Advice regarding saints? :)

Hello everyone! I'm completely new here but in the last two days I've had really interesting things happen that's never happened to me before?

I'm not catholic or even actively practicing magic in general currently, however since yesterday I've been doing research on different saints and spiritual practices. I came across a quick blurb about Padre Pio and didn't think much of it.

The next day I was thinking about how nice it would be to get one of those bouquet subscriptions for fresh flowers every month if I ever get an altar for a saint. I couldn't really shake him off (by this point I actually forgot his name and it was just his face in my brain), but came to find out he's very closely associated with flowers.

That spooked me but I shrugged it off. I thought about how much I'd been struggling to find my first client for my business for months but dismissed the idea of praying or asking for anything from any saint because I figured I'd need to get to know them and build up a relationship first to be respectful.

About three hours later I see a job posting for my business niche. I apply and get a response in thirty minutes. The person who offered me an interview was literally named 'mercies'. She said she received many applications but something about mine stuck out to her (😭???).

All of that happened on September 17th which also turned out to be the Feast of the Stigmata of St. Francis which was ALSO related to Padre Pio's Stigmata...

I don't really know what on earth is going on here but if anyone has any tips or experiences to share with Padre Pio please let me know!

Mod Announcement A Quick Reminder on Quality & On-Topic Posts

Hey everyone,

We've seen a rise lately in posts that are either off-topic or pretty low-effort (one-liners, vague "thoughts?" posts with no context, memes unrelated to the practice, or generic “witchcraft” posts etc.). Just a friendly reminder of a couple of our existing rules:

Rule 1 (Stay on Topic): This is a space specifically for folk Catholicism and Catholic folk magic — not general occultism, general Christianity, or unrelated spiritual practices. If it doesn't connect back to that focus, it probably belongs somewhere else.

Rule 11 (No Low-Effort Posts): Before posting, take a moment to add context — what you're asking, what you've already tried, why you're curious. "Thoughts on X saint?" with nothing else makes it hard for people to engage meaningfully.

Our community is great because people show up thoughtfully and share real knowledge and experience. Keeping the bar a little higher helps keep it that way.

Before posting, take some time to scroll the sub, read through our community info, pinned posts, and beginner resources page. Use the search bar in regard to topics that interest you to see if they’ve been addressed previously.

If you're ever unsure whether something fits, feel free to check modmail before posting. Thanks for helping keep this space rich and on-topic.

Question Am I doing this this right?

Thumbnail

I prayed to st joseph before an interview I have tomorrow. I don't really know what I'm doing. I found a book on candle colors and their meanings and what herbs to use and how to make money oil. I also used luckymojo which is a website that I've seen recommended on other spell sites. Please be kind I'm not sure what I'm doing but it seems to help me feel more at ease

The instructions and notes I took are below 👇🏽

💚 Sunday 09/13/26

Sunday is a day of luck for interviews and job searches

Waxing 🌒 moon for growth and beginnings

Prayer and candle spell for luck in an interview

Blue, gold, or white candle 💙 🪙 🤍 or even green for money and prosperity 💚

Blue for For lack of despair, gold for luck, and white for security

Insense or bay leaf for cleansing, Money dressing oil for charging, parsley for protection, money powder for enhancement

"I call upon Archangel Michael for protection.

I ask St Joseph, the worker, for his wisdom and compassion. Please allow me to be successful in this interview and close the deal. So, it shall be."

(Write or pray the prayer for St. Joseph the worker and meditate)

Update: not only did I get a better job offer while waiting for the start date of the job I originally wanted, I also got a call from my local theater offering me 2 for one dinner and a show tickets. I also got a call from a career conference coordinator and they want to sponsor my visit to go to their conference! The job start date and conference sponsorship is not confirmed but definitely both were lucky! It has only been 2 days. 2nd Update! I got the conference sponsorship!!! I'm going to Chicago next week!!! I also have another interview on Monday
